Greetings!I finally made the move from ActiveSky 6.5 to ASA. I must say I am impressed with the new product! However I have had a couple of problems that I'm hoping someone can shed some light on.I'm running FS9 on a WinXP (SP3) machine. I have ASA and the update installed (not the beta one, though). I've only completed a couple of flights since buying ASA a couple of days ago, but on both of them the same thing happens. I've been flying a Constellation in the altitude ranges of the surface to FL210. I'll be motoring along, when suddenly the visibility will go from a nice soft horizon to severe unlimited visibility with that ugly sharply defined horizon - this will happen…

G'day,I've had ASA for a couple of weeks and have been trying different cloud settings to find that sweet spot. Have a couple of queriesCirrus Cloud Generation - Am I right in saying this is the amount of cirrus cloud regardless of any METAR or other forecasts?Stratus Cloud Occurence - Is this the stratus vs cumulus for a particular cloud level?

Last night, halfway through a flight from London Stansted (EGSS) to Zurich (LSZH), on FS9.1 with ASA Build 435 and Radar Contact (RC) 4.3, I had a recurrence of a problem that I thought had been fixed. A message came up behind FS saying "FSUIPC_WAIT cannot change 3xxxxxxxx (a 6 or 7 digit number) it remains as 3xxxxxxxxx (the same number)". This causes RC to stop working and ok ing the message doesn't seem to do much as it comes back after a few seconds. FS does keep running and the flight could continue without ATC from RC. Also, the number that is displayed is not always the same.One then has to close RC and re-start it but the problem is that RC does not have a "resume…

I have a problem with getting ASA to connect to FSX.If I start ASA first and then FSX, the weather depict doesn't become active and the weather is the default in FSX. It seems also the nearest airport is shown as where my last flight ended, so I guess ASA doesn't connect properly to FSX. If ASA is shut down and then restarted, weather depict gets active and the weather changes in FSX.I'm using FSUIPC (non pay) with FSX.When using ASA with FS9, very often the weather from last session is used, untill refresh is pushed.I'm wondering if there is a setting somewhere, I haven't set correctly. I can't find anything oblivious, so I thought I would ask.-Peter

Hi JimI've been using ASA for abut 6 weeks now and am struggling with seeing the reported ASA weather depicted in FSX including windspeed and direction, visibility, atmospheric pressure, temperature, cloud cover. It becomes more apparent when listening to an ATIS report using Radar Contact when arriving at my desination. Since RC just reports what FSX knows about I started prowling around on the FSX map and saw consistent differences between ASA and reports on the FSX map. I have had ASA for a few months now and I like it a lot but am having a problem with what the Reports screen in ASA says compared to what FSX ATIS is giving me.For example, on a lot of flights of a hundred miles or more I look at the weather report in ASA to get an idea of which way the wind is blowing so I will have an idea of what runway to expect so I can plan accordingly. Running FSX SP2 with ASA SP1. Trying to make ASA running without DWC, but seems a useless attempt, after the dozens I made. I usually have the same weather everywhere, and it is the wx I have at origin. I had already discussed about this, but today I found out something more. Initially the weather depicts fine, all around, looking at various stations in the radius of action, the wx is depicted accordingly. Problems begin after I take off and start moving away from the origin airport. Is ASA supposed to automatically set the weather to User Defined when FS9 is started? When I start FS9, after having launched ASA, the weather theme in FS is Fair Weather. Am i doing something wrong?

Hi,I am contemplating buying ASA as I am moving away from REX's weather problems due to issues with visibility. What I wanted to ask is how ASA handles North-American 10sm METAR readings? 10sm vis on METARs in the US does not mean 10 sm visibility - which is depicted in FSX as near foglike - but significantly better, in a sense anything above 10sm. There are no 9999 readings there as in Europe. Unfortunately REX depicts 10 sm METAR as 10 sm visibility everywhere. Even IVAO weather now realiyed this problem and in the next edition they are changing Nort American 10 sm vis to similar what is depicted for 9999 vis in Europe.How does ASA handle this issue? Hi,the last couple of days I compared the weather depiction, e.g. cloudscapes of ASA and AS6.5 in FS9 and compared these with real-time weathercams which you can find on the internet. Sometimes I got significant differences and found out that the METAR data used by ASA are most of the time the latest possible. AS6.5 however gets data which are generally 30-60 minutes older. In that case you don't get the actual and realistic weather situation with AS6. Is the fault on my side (settings) or is there another reason for it?Regards, Hans W.

Hi everybody,I just finished a flight from Edinburgh to Keflavik. During final approach all of a sudden I lost engine power significantly and I got various overheat warnings as well.What the heck is going on here, I thought, when I looked at the temperature...BIKF obviously isn't included in ASA's database, it takes KQNT instead. I did the attached screenshot after finishing FS9, therefore the FS9 status indicator is red.Any ideas what's going wrong there?

I run with AS6.5 in FS9 and ASA in FSX (go figure but it works for me). I just installed ultimate traffic II in my FSX world and even though AI appear, there are no contrails. Contrails are checked in UT2 but I was wondering if ASA renders contrails or not? I use REX2.0 for sky/cloud/water textures.ThanksRich Perry

Hi John,That thing happens every time the wx writing is initiated and gets stuck at the first or second airport four-letter code, either having started ASV6.5 first or after FS9 initialisation. If I hit "Refresh" button, it says "Please wait until another function is done". I am not sure, but I think it started soon after download and installation of SPs for Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0 & 3.5. So now, I have no other option than start FS situation first and after that wx set occurs (writing continues and finishes), contrary to what happened earlier with ASV6.5 (wx was set before FS9 situation started). With 431 and FSX SP2 I'm just not getting the upper winds I'm supposed to be getting. If you look at the screenshot, I'm flying at FL340 so I should be getting 248 @ 62. What I'm actually getting is 261 @ 25. Also, the value stays constant for 10, 20, 30 minutes at a time. I'm not using DWC, and FSUIPC is not controlling any weather.PS: The reported overcast is not reproduced, either.

ASA is not working properly anymore. I can start the program, but after that is doesn't work. There is an icon in the tasbar, but when I click it, ASA won't pop up. It happened after the update. I reinstalled it, but no succes.What can I do?Martin

I am getting a error that states "Error accessing internal components (Unencrypt step 4 -. Please run the 'Repair' option via the ASv6 setup.exe to replace required files"I have tryed the repair option and it still gives me the error. Also when the weather appears in FS9 the clouds end about half way down the screen. The clouds flicker on and off and it is very glitchy.

I installed active sky advanced. When I open the program, it says my license key is invalid. I did'nt enter one, because it didn't aks for it. What is going on? In the installation file it says to open the setup.exe included. I can't find that one. Where is it? When I try to find my local weather station for the airport I am based at (RW) it gives me a nearby one instead. I am base at M89 in Arkansas and AS gives me the weather for KHOT. Now we use KHOT when the KM89 weather station is offline, but the NOTAM at my university states KM89 weather overrides KHOT. So a long story short is why will ASv6.5 not give me the METAR from KM89?
