I have a problem that has happened twice in the last 2 weeks now. When ASA is started, the first screen comes up ok and asks for the FS version that I'm using. Then after it is finished loading the initial information, it minimizes to the task bar. Since I'm using Vista, I can see the main screen in the thumbnail when I hover the mouse over the task bar, but clicking on the ASA title won't bring it back to full screen. The last time it did this, I uninstalled it and reinstalled, but it still wouldn't work until I removed the keys from the registry. Is there any other way to fix this other than removing it from the system, deleting the keys and reinstalling again. T…

I have just purchased and installed the ASA upgrade from Active Sky 6.5. After this I see that AS 6.5 is still on my system and can be run as before. Is this normal? Am I supposed to manually uninstall Active Sky 6.5 now?

Why is it more and more frequently the wx data is 2hr old? The time stamp for the metar seems to more often than not be over 2 hours old. Can this be looked into? Right now, KLAS is showing over 2hr old data.....

Hi,After installing SP1 and SP2 twice and also reinstalling FSX again (and clearing all temp files), I continue to get the message that simconnect cannot be found. I am running windows xp home. I am starting to think that this is ASA's fault, since I am not having issues with FSX at all. Anbody else having these issues? I am very close to asking for a refund on this program. I am doing everything according to ASA's support documentation and still can't get it to work. I am running this on just one computer, no server/client setup or anything complicated going on.Thanks,UM

Hi hifisim,I purchased ASA for FS9 with FSUIPC 3.90 (unpaid) on Windows XP Professional (32 bit).The original version I purchased didn't do any depiction although I get a messagesaying depiction is in progress and depiction is complete within FS9.I tried upgrading to build 394. Now it does depiction at KSEA but not anywhere else.At airports other than KSEA, I get a message in FS9 saying depiction is completeimmediately after depiction started whereas at KSEA it takes a while to completedepiction. Hi Jim. At 1210z 5/9/09 I cannot start ASA because the met/rep data fails to load from either server. This has happened before. Just notifying you of as issue on your end, bet you already know about it too.

Folks,I have been using ASX (FSX) for about 6 months. Took a break and downloaded ASA (and Beta SP1).I now find myself dazed and confused and could use some help.1, My XGauge is now giving me strange readings. I load the current weather for KTOL...load FSX.....apply the weather. When flying (FS9) certain resource hungry payware a/c (I won't mention any names), especially from detailed payware airports like Aerosoft's Heathrow, the straw that always breaks the camel's back, fps wise, is how cloudy the skies are. I could opt to close AS6 and use FS9's 'Clear Skies', but assuming I prefer to have AS6 working so as to get some dynamic weather en route, how do I use AS to find a wx file which I know will give me clear skies, at least until after I am airborne, when the fps problem usually disappears?I don't use online updating: I have a set of 365+1 wx files, one for each day of the year, downloaded via AS6. Hi Jim/Damien, finally started using ASA again after sticking with AsV6 because of the teething troubles, it's starting to perform as the weather engine it promised to be! There is however still one nagging bug that has not changed for me, its the same as it was with the first release and I noticed it wasn't mentioned on the list of fixes for b406, that is the grossly incorrect upper temperature altitudes, seems to be worse t lower levels (excluding ground temps) just climed out of EGNM with ground temp of 13 and 3000ft temp of 19! then it slowly decreases during the climb. Is this an issue your still working on or am I the only one? ThanksMark

Hi Jim et al,I'm playing with the new B406 beta on my wide-client and I'm having a bit of trouble getting the reduced visibility layers as well as trying different ASA option-sliders to get my preferred settings.With both FSX and ASA active, is it possible to change ASA options in an active session without having to restart ASA and/or FSX? What I'm noticing is, if I make a change to an ASA option (slider), I then see 'options changed' in ASA's log window, but then it seems that FSX weather will hang and not update, even though ASA synthises and depiction-output have turned back on (green).But, it seems that it may not be a specific ASA issue as much as some sort of stuck…

Hi Folks.During testing another issue, I stumbled upon a really odd, unexpected, and serious problem.Basically its like this.Without ASX running, this does not occur within FSX.With ASX & FSX+Accel running, here are the steps to reproduce. Basically I come in to land, for a complete stop on the runway. Nothing fancy. However, I find that just before the aircraft fully stops, it suddenly jumps to moving forward at something like 50 to 100kts down the runway. Of course, ending up off the end and crashing the aircraft etc.I have gone through everything I can think of, even (cleanly) reinstalled EVERYTHING I have. Checked and re-calibrated all hardware controls, although …

Hello,Version 406 is a great improvement... I have also recognized that you managed to handle the annoying fog layer disappearing when getting onto high altitudes. It is now getting slowly brighter instead of popping away as in former versions.But couldn't you leave the fog layer instead of remove it slowly?When 1 sm visibility is reported, then I aspect that I can't see the earth if I fly over this region in e.g. 5000ft.But now on ground the 1sm visibility is correct with ASA, but in higher altitudes I can still see the ground.Any chances to get this implemented?Or I`m wrong in a way? Maybe with false settings?

I'm using B406 in FS9.1 and I still get clouds suddenly disappearing and then a few minutes later, suddenly appearing. I also get a haze layer randomly coming and going suddenly.This build may have fixed other problems but not this one. What I'm getting does look ridiculous and totally spoils the attempt at realism. To be fair I also get this to some extent with ASv6.5 so maybe I have to live with it.Iain Smith

Ok, I have tested the new build 406...It seems the stutters came back for me...and Its not a preformance issue...Only when ASA updates the Updrafts/downdrafts it seems to stutter with the previous build it did not seem to do that...as for the METAR matching the Actual WX I am still on the fence...When OVC is present in a metar that means it should show OVC outside...which it does but when u get OVC at 7,000 FT it should stay at that..When flying out of KJFK the Wx was OVC 070 I took off and around 3,000ft the OVC layer went away and came the BKN clouds..So this issue is still not fixed...Other then that I don't see anything else...The stutters were bad in the first build.…

I have been using ASA Build 394 with Vista 64 FSX for a few months now. I really like the depiction I'm getting, but have become more and more confused over how to set the various times in ASA and then FSX. For most flights, I import a flight plan into the ASA startup and download the current weather. If I use the exact downloaded current weather, I usually don't do anything with the times, and for the most part everything seems to work. A lot of times though, I will go to the Config page and make the weather worse, change the surface wind because of an approach plate I have for the destination, etc.. Hi!I started to use ASX in combination with Xgraphics some days ago on my XP64 computer. I would be very happy if it works the same way it looks. I use to fly online with FSInn. I open FSX via the "Launch FSX" button. This is not related to the new build only, I've always had this problem and still do, doesn't seem to matter whats injecting the weather, so I'm posting here to see if anyone has a recommendation. Here are 2 screen shots showing the problem I'm having. The Metar states visibility of 9sm and clear skies. Well I'm not too far from this airport and the skies are clear, not a cloud to be seen and the visibility is not 9sm, it has to be a lot more, no clouds, no haze, you can see forever... well almost. We need a simulation of this.I just flew to and attended a seminar on nexrad weather.Only xm provides a composite nexrad image-all fbo's (wsi is the contractor) , weather channel etc. only provide nexrad base (due to boaters that have more say and $$$ into the picture).The seminar explained not only the benefits of composite xm vs. base but the fact that the last 11 or so commercial convective disasters could have been avoided with composite nexrad- superior to info radar (used presently by airlines) or even stormscope info-this seminar made a believer of me.

I have been on the fence for several months about buying ASA. What I am most interested in about ASA is that it fixes some of the bugs that MSFT left in the weather model. From reading the forum and the HiFi website it seems that ASA fixes some of the bugs but others are not fixed and it seems likely that they cannot be fixed by anyone except MSFT.This is a list of the bugs as I see it in the FSX weather model. Hi, just like to say, just made a flight using asa 406 in fsx and noticed a HUGE improvement. Yes there are stll issues as you are well aware but compared to previous release it's working well for me at last.No quickly shifting winds anyway.One oddity - had a station UTSC? (Uzbeckistan or whatever lol) showing winds of 100knots but after update download dropped to 16knots, I assume this was because it was showing 90mps in the metar... odd as the stations around it were a lot lower and even winds aloft were 17knots at 3000feet. This was around 2pm gmt today.I'll try a few flights using this again and see if it is consistant, cheers to the team.John Ellison
