Hi Jim,I was flying along happily overhead EDDM towards LOWI yesterday morning when BAM, all of a sudden I was in white out. Couldn't see a thing.This continued for about 10 minutes, then BAM all of a sudden everything was completely clear again, not even any cloud around.I have the vis sliders set as follows:Min surface vis: 0Max surface vis: 150Max upper vis: 200.The reason I have the max surface vis set so high is that I have noticed through experimentation that in FS9 the Max upper vis slider has no effect. The max vis seen at any level in FS9 is only related to the Max surface vis slider. Eg. If you set the max surface vis to 60, at FL350 you will only ever see …

When I use ASA for weather I can not use the weather radar in any of my payware aircraft - for all of them they stay in test mode. When I use default FSX weather everything works fine, has anyone encountered this before with ASA and the B394 patch? Is there a setting perhaps that I'm missing somewhere in ASA that might resolve this?Thanks,Bruce

Hello all!I have been a proud an satisfied user of ASA since day 1, but since yesterday I am prompted to reactivate the program, and it says, my licensekey isn't valid. I am running ASA build 394 on FS 9.1.

I have configured Simconnect for networking with ASX.The client computer is my old FS computer with FSX installed and ASX. I have installed FSX on my new computer and want to use ASX networked from my old computer. Hi Guys,I seem to remember a post a while back saying that the reason that there were no realistic gusts on final was due to having DWC enabled.In other words, sorting out one problem produces another.After reading this, I dissabled DWC and yes, the gusts at low level were much better again (or did I imagine this). BUT...... I got great wind changes at high level and all sorts of overspeed problems.Now for my suggestion.Is there any way to use DWC, but have it dissabled at low level (say below FL100 where most of us are only flying 250kts anyway - so no real risk of overspeed). I have setup ASX with SP3 on a networked machine. All seems to be working okay, except that I do not see or hear the weather when I tune Com 1 to 122.00. This feature worked for me when I had ASX with SP3 on the same machine as FSX Acceleration. Does it not work on a networked setup, or have I forgotten to do something? Hi,I switched back to ASX due to the ASA bugs, but now I can't get any weather depiction from ASX. I get the ASX weather depiction complete message in FSX and get proper depiction for a short time, then it reverts to FSX default weather. There is an exception recieved: 16 message in the log (which I attached). I am running ASX and FSX on the same machine and I did disable my anti-virus after seeing this prob. It did not fix it. I do not experience this problem when using ASA. Any help appreciated.Sheldon

Hi just a quick question.ASA in the report page under graphical conditions we have aloft which starts from 3k 6k ... 49K.are these units in feet??If they are, I am flying now at FL380 and according to these data temp on the closes station at 39K must be -52.0 but I the TAT in FS9 is -14...I tried refreshing and it didn'y fix it.I am using Build 394.Thanks

Hello, I just installed ASA on my client machine, Everything is working fine from takeoff then at random times I receive a OOM error on my server machine with FSX. The first flight it was 5 mins in than the next was 55 min right before landing. The first flight I had Xpax running on client as well FS commander 8. The second flight I only has FS commander running. I have never had a OOM error ever with FSX. I have 2gb ram on the server machine running XP pro service pack 2.I love what I saw so far....Thanks,Tom

Hi,I'm trying to get into FSX seeing that more and more devlopers are moving over to that platform but I keep returning to FS9 due to massive windshifts.I've read all through the HIFI sim forums but all I see is its a programming bug within simconnect which MS never fixed before going out of buisness per se and there is no definite fix. Some say FSUIPC, others say disable this or that but its all speculation.Has or how do all of you fly with planes being pushed side to side violently all the time without having to turn off winds aloft; sort of defeats the purpose of having real weather.Any suggestions appreciated; I'm trying to enjoy FSX but these windshifts are just unbe…

I'm setting up a network install of Active Sky Advanced on Win XP Pro (client) and FSX is installed on the server WinXP Pro.I'm looking at bottom of page 51 of the manual where it tells you to configure Simconnect. I have the following questions:1) Can I assume that SDK SP1 is on the Deluxe FSX CD?2) Can I assume that the SDK SP1a is in the SP1 FSX download?3) Can I assume that the SDK SP2 is on the Acceleration CD?4) Do I need to install the SDK 1 , 1a, and 2 on both the server and the client PC's, or just the server PC (where FSX is located)? I can start ASA and then FSX and the ASA weather depiction occurs fine in the first flight loaded. However, if I load a second flight in FSX it is necessary to restart ASA to get the weather depicted. Please don't tell me that this is the way it's supposed to work, because it's really a pain.I checked this forum and read the fixes in SP1 beta, and it appeared that a fix for this might be included. After installing SP1 beta there is no change in ASA regarding this issue. Hello all,I purchased Active Sky ASA a couple of days ago and am just learning how to use it. Yesterday I received a error message saying the I needed to ReActivate the program. I did as instructed and the program worked ok. My concern is that there may be a limit to the number of activatiions. Incase this happens in the future, will there be a problem? I use a single computer and run Microsoft XP SP3, 3.2 ghz and 2gb ram memory. I use FS9 9.1 with FSUPIC 3.90. I don't know if it would be a number by the respective arrows just saying -----> 92 or if it could be done by a colored visualization technique but one way or another it would be very cool to see wind speeds integrated into the ASA map....Just a thought,Thanks in advance,-Paul

This is so frustrating. Here is the METAR - Here is the depiction in FSX - It is a blustery winter day. This is not overcast. This is not 8 mile vis. This is not even close to what it looked like out the window. Am I doing something wrong? This is a recurring problem. I LOVE ASV for FS9. If this is as good as ASA gets can I trade my license for ASX? I just want real weather like I get with ASV and FS9. Thanks, Eddie KABQ

FolksI'm using ASX (build 1169) and when loading the flight plan to try and smooth out winds aloft along the route I'm getting what seems an excessive amount of time to complete. The XEngine Message Box comes up with the "smoothing winds" but it can take anywhere from 5 minutes to 20 minutes to complete along a route that only has 5-6 waypoints (at which point I usually kill ASX and reload without loading a flt plan) . Tried it with "force priority processes" checked and unchecked with no difference.Any suggestions I might try?Thanks,Brent

I know Jim has mentioned this many times in different posts, but if anyone is getting severe frame rate hits in heavy clouds (not Active Sky's fault either) try reducing your AntiAliasing setting. I had done some tweaking recently and forgot to reset mine, and then worried for several days about why I was getting c.10 fps in cloudy areas. Reverting to FS9's 'Clear Skies' always put my frame rates back to my fixed 30 fps.Then I remembered my AA settings - it was at 8. Reducing it to 4 has little effect on the visuals (especially as I use a fairly small screen, 17", with a resolution of 1920x1200) but my fps in heavy cloud immediately jumped from c.10 to over 25. Hi team,Today I purchased ASA after having used AS for many years.I frist read all the features /issues so I knew a bit what to expect.Then I was wondering if it isn't possible to add a few buttons that will consist of custom set features per button ( done by the user )Eg : the moment I fly the MDF-11 or Level D I might want to have DWC and DVC enabled, while perhaps when flying a Cessna I want them unabled.Each button can have a ( self given ) name, like Jet-flying , small aircraft etc.So per button one could set Cloud , wind and visibility options.Just an idea that came up.Keep up the good work. Greetings,After installing SP1 B2 ASA worked for several weeks. Now, it won't work and comes up with the message "ASA has encountered a problem and needs to close" blah, blah, blah. I have uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail. This is so strange, as ASA worked flawlessly until this happened twice, once upon installation of the original build and again upon installation of SP1 B2.What other onformation can I supply to help troubleshoot this issue?Windows XP SP3.Thanks,Brad Streeter
