  1. Is there some way to specify when it's time to synthesize weather, what I mean is when downloading a bunch of archived weather, what is the point of synthesizing each download once it's been saved to disk? Here's the scenario...Last night I attempted to download 3 hours worth of archived weather for yesterday afternoon. I'm using FS9. I set up ASA to download "2009-03-25_16Z", "2009-03-25_17Z", and "2009-03-25_18Z" not knowing exactly what to expect. I was hoping to see if I could figure out how to make ASA stream these 3 hours of weather for a nice long local VFR flight (ASA can do this, right?). OK, now to begin with I've just started the program so I've already sat her…

Hi,Just wanted to throw this together here in case it can help you guys understand/remedy the cloud popping issue. While flying from KBLI to KLAS, by the time I got just East of Mt. St. Hellens in Washington State this had happened 2 times. The second time I just happened to be taking screen shots and caught it in the act. Here is what it looked like:In the blink of an eye, BAM. Suddenly there's a nice carpet of clouds down around 8K feet. It seems to happen every time the weather is updated in ASA. It looks like it's interpolating between stations differently every time (??). Do you guys have a handle on the cause yet?Hope this helps,Chris

Hey guys, I don't know if this is a bug report for ASA, but I think it's kind of funny nonetheless...ASA does a very faithful job of reproducing the conditions that the METARs give.Even when the METARs contain the string "Q2340". That does some FASCINATING stuff to the handling of your MD11 at FL370, let me tell you... :( This was from SCRA (Chanaral, Chile), the 2/5/2009 03Z METARs: SCRA 050335Z 22000KT 16255 SCT096 SCT151 19/14 Q2310 RMK ADVANCED INTERPOLATIONAnd here's one even better, the station just north of Chanaral, Las Breas (SCTT): SCTT 050338Z 20101KT 16255 SCT110 20/14 Q3280 RMK ADVANCED INTERPOLATIONI am now closest to the next station south, Caldera (SC…

Hello HiFi Sim Team,On a long haul flight over the Pacific (RJBB to KMEM) in the PMDG MD-11, I observed some interesting events concerning winds. First off, for a\bout 65-75 percent of my flight, the winds aloft from FL310-370 were dead on accurate, cross checked with wind data from a separate flight planner that uses real world data. When this accurate data was being reflected, there was no evidence of S-turns. However, at any given moment, there was occasions that the wind would shift from, for example, 260/105 to 330/37, as displayed on the PFD. At that time the S-turns would start again. This would happen on and off throughout the flight, over land or not. The s…

Hello I am running ActiveSky X Build 1169 (last one I believe)I am running todays date weather. It shows correctly on the bottom left corner.Flight plan runs fine and weather loads fine.Every few minutes an error message pops up interrupting the simulator "Invalid date. You have selected and invalid date. Please select a date between January 07 to present"Why is that? If I click OK, It keeps coming back. If I leave it alone, I could continue the flight. The error message was there in the previous build.Any thoughtsBill

Using FS9.1 and I must say that 394 is a definite improvement over 355. Cloud depiction is much more stable. Just done a comparison real to depicted for my nearest weather station (Coventry airport UK EGBE) which is 15 miles away and both my wife and I agreed it was a reasonably close simulation.Still getting thrown around a bit at cruise in the PMDG MD11 with DWC selected but presumably this is still being worked on.Overall, well done guys and keep up the good refining work! :( Iain Smith

Hi Jim et al,I had a chance to run b394 several times over the past few days, in conjunction with all my other addon-apps on my wideclient. Until proven otherwise, I am now of the opinion the ASA DWC mode is probably incompatible with Radar Contact (RC). When using DWC mode, RC still stalls and delays responses begining in the approach corridor, about 80nm out from the arrival airport; and gets worse as the approach continues. It's as if RC gets thrown into calculation-loops because (my theory) only the global weather is set by DWC and perhaps RC needs local station data for its arrival calculations. It is my undertanding from years of using RC, that it is about this time …

Does anyone know what might cause the infomation boxes to flash repeatedly when hovering the mouse over the airfield identifiers. If I hold the mouse button down the flashing stops. It is really quite bad and would cause an epileptic to have a fit.My system is a fairly high end Vista 32 bit system with a pair of SLI'ed GTS 8800 680 mb cards with the latest drivers installed. Looking at your web site I could not figure out which product to buy. I assumed that ASA would be everything in ASX plus added features but it looks like ASA excludes some things that ASX has. Would buying ASA and XGraphics fills the gap? I am not sure because you have a bundle deal with ASX and XGraphics as well.Additionally screen shots mention that they are a combination of ASA, XGraphics, REX and FEX add-ons but from my reading it sounds like XGraphics, REX and FEX are all competing products that offer relatively the same thing. So why should I buy XGraphics if I have REX or FEX already?

Using SP1 for FS9.1.WX at EDDH on 12/03 at 0850Z (chose this wx as there is lower vis - 8000m)This is displayed correctly when on the ground before take offI then fly above 10000ft and the Vis layer disappears (probably correctly)I then descend down again, but the vis layer doesn't come back (here at 2500ft)At 500ft now, still no bad visFinally, as I get to below 400ft it suddenly comes backThis is the problem I have been having since starting to use ASA. Vis layer shown correctly on ground and all the way up to about 10000ft.BUT, on the way down, vis layer is absent until nearly on the ground. (see previous posts with screenshots to illustrate).SP1 does not seem to have…

hi hifi team, i'm sorry to say tht the cloud popping issue has still not been resolved. it is of course not evident when using global mode, but global mode does not have accurate cloud depiction as stated in the new release notes. hence, i prefer to use station based mode which has very good depiction but severe cloud popping. NOTE: the same cloud popping is not evident when using FSX's default weather engine, so it must be something to do with ASA and its interpolation. please look into this issue as this is one thing that's taking the charm away. i've also reported another issue on another post that damian has seen, so please include that issue also on t…

hello hifi team,i did a couple of flights using the new ASA build 394 and FSX. things have been improved a lot...especially the amount of CPU power required is now far more less and hence lesser stuttering. however, i've noticed one issue. the temperature is always wrong for any airport that is represented as advanced interpolation. for example, VOBG had a temperature reading of 33 celsius according to METAR but inside FSX i got a temperature of 5 celsius. FSX's ATIS also reported 5 celsius, but ASA inbuilt ATIS reported it correctly. this happened irrespective of whether i was using station based mode or global mode. this issue does not happen with an airport that does n…

Hello all,I've been dealing with ASA's issues for quite long time now, but I'm starting to loose my patience. In the beginning I had CTD quite often. Then I updated to the interim version. Then I used to run into the freezing problem from time to time. No CDT, so it was OK, and I hoped it could be solved quickly. But lately I can't finish a flight without suffering the problem, and I have to kill ASA's process and wait for 10 minutes until FSX reacts again. It's getting on my nerves. I updated to build 394 but it doesn't seem to help at all.The last drop has happened today, when suddenly the engines of my PMDG's MD-11 started to overheat. I could not understand why, unti…

Anyone see this? Using FS9.1, Win XP, PMDG MD11. When ASA loaded (with GE PRO textures), the 2D panel flicks black once (for a split second), and it seems to happen every 22-25 seconds. The outside scenery doesn't appear to flicker. This doesn't happen with an earlier version of Active Sky (4 something).Thanks.EDIT: forgot to mention I have the beta service pack from a day or two ago installed.

Okay, new computer new stuff I had a perfect copy of AS6 but alas no more licenses as I never changed my email addy to my new one. So, I figured what the heck with FSX going in it was time to get a new weather engine anyhows but heh not as user friendly as 6. I'm trying to get the weather reports to load up to FS9/X. I know with AS6 it would set to user defined weather but I'm not sure where this is downloaded too anymore.

Over the weekend I have been using the WX Config screen to submit certain WX conditions in ASA.I start ASA, enter the WX I want in the WX Config screen and then start FS9. Sure enough, after a few minutes I get the green line in FS9 saying ASA has updated and the weather changes to the selected WX.NOW............ If I want to change the WX how do I do it. I leave FS9 running and change the wx in the WX Config screen and check that it has worked by looking at the map. Problem is that ASA never seems to update FS9 again. I left it running for 2 hours, but still no change (I originally loaded low cloud/vis, which displayed correctly after starting FS9 - I then changed t…
