I plan to join VATSIM and therefore seek for as many infos as I can get. Since this here my 2 questions:1. I have heared it is possible to leave AI traffic enabled during a VATSIM session. But how should this work? I assume the controller won't see my AI traffic. So e. g. he/she may clear me for landing, not seeing that I have actually got an AI plane on the same runway lined up for take off.2. As I am on a DSL connection with limited datatransfer volume (1 GB per month) I'm interested to know, how many KB or MB are transferred per hour during an average VATSIM session.Thanks in advance for your replies,Wolfgang

Hi,I'm winding up for my first go on vatsim at the weekend by listening in a lot via servinfo. One thing that has me worried is the taxiway layout of airfields. If I'm unsure in FS I just use the magic pink line for directions, but how are pilots taxiing around on vatsim? Is there an online resource with airfield layout diagrams anywhere? I'm mostly interested in UK and Europe.Also, I'm not confident flying SIDS and STARS yet. Are these mandatory to fly IFR on vatsim? Thanks for any help,hope to see you online soon,Gareth Evans

I can see other Planes say at an airport and in the air... but the planes are generic promoting a CSL (Common Shapes Libary) Logos on them.... is there a way or is there a download (i missed) where the Logo represent real airlines. HiI have just tries to log onto the vatsim network (via the ozpack server)& I continually get an error saying the connection was "forcefully rejected" & the error code WSAECONNREFUSED.What have I done?! I haven't come across this problem before & needless to say it is frustrating.CheersPstark:-mad

You know...I'm a pretty smart guy, but this on-line flying stuff is tough! I have done it successfully before and have done all the requisite reading. Just a couple of things still escape me though. 1)When you leave a controller's airspace, how do you know where to go next if there isn't a controller in adjacent airspace? 2)When you do arrive in new airspace that is controlled, how do you know? 3)How do you change over to that controller and his/her RW channel? 4)If you start in an uncontrolled area, how do you know when you enter one and what to tune to? 5)Can you change your VATSIM password? As you can tell bye know that I am new to this. I did my first flight the other night I asked for the ATIS the controller typed the ATIS for that airport, it looked something like this "KDFW 152056Z 12011KT 2 1/2SM BR OVC006 06/06 A3017 RMK AO2 SLP216 T00610056 56043" I just got this from the vatsim web site than the link to north america than to the ARTCC website it had the current ATIS At KDFW. Now my question how do I figure what all that means wind, runways in use. ALT setting ECT. I alt setting would be 3017 anyway could someone tell where do I find out that info? Thanks GKJR

I use FS Nav 4.5 Where do I export my flight plan to in SB. And how do you load it. And the samething if you use vatsim web page to make a flight plan?Thank you GKJR

Up untill a few months ago, I never had this problem with SB. I start everything as usualy, I start SB Host, then the main program. This is where the problem lies. When I click on "connect" i use to type in "localhost", but now when I do that it just says "Searching" and never finds my multiplayer session. If I click cancel, which is what i have to do, i can still connect and fly. ATC can see me, but I can't see anyone else. Even if I leave the field blank (where i would type in localhost) It still doesn't find the my session. Any suggestions would help. I have really found a joy in flying on the Vatsim network...unfortunately, I usually don't have time to. The few times that I have, I always seem to run into a problem. The other planes that I see around me always stutter or become stuck. In fact, I have actually crashed a few times because I thought the plane had already landed but then it landed again right on top of me!Basically, what I see is this...say for example I am holding short of runway xx with another aircraft on short final. I will see the plane fly past me and land...and then I will see the same thing again in relatively rapid succession about 5 more times.My question is this...what do you see? Is what …

after installing dx9 i can't seem to have any text captured on SB. the connection is ok since my plan is delivered and i'm seen on radar. actually when passing through voice controlled centers i have no problem since i use RW, but when the controller has only text i can't communicate but only see his futile attempts to contact me on SB's status line.
