I have a PANAM and QANTAS B707 and the highly ratd AMERICAN AIRLINES B727 ADVANCED (in MS FS2002 PRO and WINDOWS XP) - if I try to use these aircraft with Squawk Box and Roger Wilco they crash out the sim either immediately or just out of the blue after a couple of minutes running. Most of the other aircraft (both default and 3rd party) seem to work just fine.Wondered if anyone else has experienced this or had a work around, as these aircraft are real favourites to fly.

I was flying in a route from Moscow to Kiev and a friend of mine sent me a message saying he was "online" also. He said he would catch up with me, but I could not get him on my radar. I could see his plane, but my radar could not!! He told me he found a way to Fly Stealth so that even the Controllers could not see him. I ask the CTR if he could see someone around me and the controller said "NEGATIVE".How is this possible? He did not want to tell me how did he do it, but I was amazed! This could cause problems if someone with this type of set up decides to be childish and mess up someone else's flight.Anybody have any ideas how did he do it?

I have absolutely no problems running the complete setup, including my FS2002 and win XP.The only problem I incurred just recently was a situation, when in rather heavy traffic I got handed over to subsequent controller. I opened ATC directory in my SBhost and double-clicked on it. Nothing. Several minutes later same attempt and still nothing. I kept on clicking my target line but no reaction. At certain moment the whole ATC list just went bezzerk as it only showed Unicom frequency, despite at least 12 controllers being in my area. I eventually got it switched, but then my frame rates just went near zero. It never happened to me before. I eventually got an error message s…

The Los Angeles and Oakland Centers are pleased to announce the sixth installment of one of VATSIM's most popular on-line flying events:California Screamin'!With a newly rejuvenated Oakland Center, we are looking forward to even more ATC online at more airports up and down the California coast, which for you means even more eye-candy out the window in terms of airplanes in your face, and airplanes you will have to miss!As always, we have done all the work for you: real-world flight numbers using real-world routes at real-world departure times. All you need to do is pick a flight from our automated flight-board, and then click on, and download the appropriate DP/STAR and …

I live in the KBOS area and study meteorology. I have created websites in the past for weather information. I realize that there is no real way of finding weather forecasts ahead of your flight other than scouting the internet to find info. I would like to know if I can/should post weather advisories for the KBOS area. I am willing to fly my aircraft up to 40,000 ft msl to plot VATSIM weather conditions and post any NOTAMS here. I think this should be done daily to keep pilots aware of imposing weather conditions that could cause a dangerous flight. I also see that ATIS dosn't display severe imposing weather conditions but rather lists current conditions.Thank you,D…

I have been flying with VATSIM for a few months now (over 100 hours)and would like to try my hand at controlling. I am registered with VATSIM.UK and have tried to register as a controller there. As yet I have had no response at all and even my requests for a mentor have been ignored. I have a PID obviously but not a CID. Are both the same?If there's anyone out there who can help me get started with this I would appreciate it. I have a long background in aviation and am pretty well versed with ATC procedures and would like to give back a little of what I've taken but it's proving harder than I expected.RegardsTimPID 840351

Having just read the preview article of the new ASRC I must say it looks an awesome piece kit even though I am a virtual pilot and not a controller.Considering the lack of news from the Simclients team for a considerable time I, like many other I guess, thought the whole development thing had died; obviously not so.My hat's off to the team for developing ASRC, well done guys, I'm sure it was a lot of hard work needing a great deal of dedication...and all for free!Again congratulations to all involved, everyone involved with, and using VATSIM should be proud of you.If I thought the old grey matter could cope with the mental agility needed to control I might be tempted myse…

Hi all,I have just recently started flying with Vatsim and i must say it makes an already realistic hobby much more enjoyable. I have one problem though. My ISP. I currently use BTOpenworld which is good and fast but they have a 2 hour cut-off policy (Whether your connection is busy or not). As you can imagine this is quite frustrating. Cany anyone recommend a good ISP which does not have this policy, Cable and ADSL are not yet available in my area so are not an option. Thanx for any replies.

I ALWAYS try using the VATSIM USA server to fly but always get a timeout. I end up using OZ-PACK server instead. Why cant I use the USA server? Also, once the LAX tower controller let me park my cessna on the grass between his active runway and another runway facing toward incoming aircraft just to watch. I never saw the aircraft landing but they said that they saw me. Whats going on? I still fly with VATSIM and the controllers can see me but I have never to this date since April seen another plane. All help appreciatedDoug HarringtonRIWS

What a great day for all online flightsim lovers. It had been my privilege to be a part of the huge flyin event Turkey had hosted last Sunday. Hundreds of pilots gathered in the beautiful sky of Turkey, which was filled and controlled by professional Trvacc members. Overall performance of pilots and ATC members was splendid. There was no single incident and each one of the take offs and landings handled carefully. If you

I want to apologize if this has been covered already. I am wondering once you file your flight plan and everything is set up with FS2002 does the squakbox automatically hook you up to the controller (if available) working the area you are flying in or do you have to hunt around for the controller? Thanks

Since the release of version 1.31 I have fixed a few minor bugs discovered by users. I have also added a new button to the gauge that will display the controllers ATIS. Normally I would pass this new version to the beta testers team and let it run for a while to see if everything is OK. But since I'm leaving next week for my summer break, and most of my beta testers are scattered in the Greek Islands enjoying the sun and sea, I decided to release it "as it is" insteading of having to wait until September. The update is available from the ServInfo site downloads page as ServInfo v.131a (beta). There is also a version of the gauge for FS2000 users and a translation of help f…

Well, I finally tried VATSIM today for the first time. I must say I was very impressed by the entire system, and it was all relatively easy to use as well, including RW. Wonderful! I flew from KSEA to KLAX, and ATC was courteous and professional, a true pleasure to be controlled by. In the past couple of years my interest towards flightsims on the computer had decreased a lot, due to flying frequently in real life. After getting my licenses I barely ever touched the sim's anymore, they just didn't feel real enough. But now with fully functional ATC with voice comms and everything, I'm sure I'll be flying a lot more on VATSIM! Also I believe this can be good practice for…

July 27, 2002 - Today, VATSIM.net celebrates its first birthday. Exactly one year ago, VATSIM officially opened its doors to the ATC and Flight Simulation online communities and has never looked back.Surpassing even the most optimistic hopes of its Founders, VATSIM has registered over 35,000 members since that time. Those members create a very active online community where pilots and air traffic controllers can find fly-ins and events on virtually any given day. These members also create content rich websites which allow for the education and entertainment of VATSIM members. In addition, the past year has seen advancements in our network's stability which allow for simu…

Who among us has never had a dodgy connection to a server? Or an ISP thatwent down briefly? Or an someone pickup the phone your modem is on? Or apower surge that knocks you offline? Or (and I know this hasn't happened toanyone :-) ) FS hang and require you to reboot your system? And then, when you get your internet connection back, you find the dreaded"callsign in use" message when you try to reconnect to VATSIM? So yougrumble about and change your callsign, adding a 1 or a . or an _ orsomething else silly or you wait for it to timeout.Well, that's a thing of the past for VATSIM now. As long as you areconnecting to the same callsign and using your same CID (and you o…
