Hi,I just registered on VATSIM and I'm currently reading the tutorials to be up as soon as possible. I just have one question that I would like to be sure:Is it possible to install squawkbox on a second PC running WideClient (of course, the FS2002 PC has WideServer running) ?In addition, I also plan to install Roger Wilco on this second PC. This will let me have the FS2002 sound from FS2002 PC, and ATC sound in a headset from the second PC.Would you be aware of any limitation that I could encounter with such a setup? Thanks in advance, and see you in the virtual skies soon.Eric.

Hi AllI'm a newbie to online flying. I have FS2002 on a winXP Home equipped PC. I have downloaded and set up SB and RW on the main flying PC to see how everything works and think I've got it going OK now. What I'd like to do is take advantage of the fact that I have a small network at home, i.e. put the comms stuff on the second PC while flying on the main PC. The second PC is win98SE equipped and I have used both wideFS and wideview at different times and understand the difference between the two.Can someone please tell me the best way to go about this please? Thanks in advancePaul Croftfrom 10 mls SE of EGLL

I've not 'flown' on either Virtual ATC system for 18 months or so. But I re-registered last week. Flew today from EGSS (London Stansted) to EDDV (Hannover) with IVAO in a 767 (PIC) and later on flew from EDDM (Munich) back to Manchester (EGCC) with VATSIM in a 747 (PSS).Surprise, surprise, not much to pick between controllers in either VATSIM or IVAO - just like 18 months ago! In fact, the 'best' controller, who seemed to say everything 'real world' (ie you could have been listening on ATC on your scaner) was the Hannover controller on IVAO - and he knew all of his local waypoints in memory as well. Of course the VATSIM controllers were still brilliant - and extremely hel…

Okay I really fly Beechcraft King Air 350's, but I figured that subject above would get more attention. :-wink2Anyway, almost every controller calls me a heavy, expects me to fly at 250kts+, and so forth. One said that procontroller was calling me a heavy. Now I've never seen that progam so I don't know what he's refering to. I have selected this exact aircraft name: Beech : Super King Air 300/300L W300LW My Aircraft type shows BE30/ as I file my flight plan, as I have no prefix, suffix selected. I'm using SquawkBox 2.3 Beta, build 5. What am I doing wrong? :-zhelpErk .. *:-*

Message from Harvey Stein,President, VATSIM Board of Governors=====================Membership of VATSIM. I have with sadness, accepted James Willans' resignation from the Board of Governors as Vice-President Development.James has been with us since the very beginning of VATSIM and without his fantastic efforts in programming our certificate issuer, we would still be in the dark ages. His efforts have allowed VATSIM to issue certificates and passwords in a matter of seconds. This has helped greatly in the huge growth of VATSIM. His tireless efforts will always be an inspiration to others. By the authority given to me as your President, I have asked Mr. Richard Critz to…

Seems that you can not depend on RW anymore on Vatsim. I've never lost communications so many times with controlers as I have this past week. AutoAtis down, controlers with the "V" in their callsign with now voice, saying it's down. It's become a nightmare. Has Vatsim thought of going to "teamspeak" in lue of Roger Wilco, or is it just a Vatsim problem?thanks!

I know there is one, because until recently, RW would default to it when I signed onto Vatsim and the RW screen popped up. But, for some reason, it no longer defaults to Uniform voice. Can anyone give me the rw frequency for this service? Thanks...btw, as of 2p cst 12-14-02, there are only 3 controllers on duty in the entire flightsim world, and only a few more than 50 pilots. Where is everybody??? :-)Sherm

Can we have some sort of mandatory rule on the setup and use of microphones with RW.More & more frequently I'm finding myself either deafened, or at the other extreme, struggling to hear the faintest whisper. And I've got to say it isn't just confined to pilots. The biggest mistake people make (when they can't hear themselves on their own PC) is to turn the mic input level up instead of the mic volume. So consequently all we hear is very loud, very distorted, and mostly indicipherable chatter. Have they even discovered the 'Adjust' tab in RW ? C'mon people, it really isn't that difficult to attain a pleasing volume for all.It would be nice if the first contact wit…

Hi there,Just returned from my holidays and I noticed that the Tilburg server from vatsim was not online. I noticed this also before I left on my holiday for more than a week ago.Is this a temporary problem or are there other reasons?Regards, Ferry

Not sure why this doesn't work anymore, use to work fine. But I will start SB Host, then start the main program, and when I would click on "Start Search" I use to type in "localhost" and it would find the game, but now nothing happens, it just sits there "Looking for games..." can anyone help me on this.ThanksLarry JEvansville, IN

It's here at last. I've just released UKRoute Version 1.0. This is an electronic version of the Standard Route Document for flying IFR in the UK. It is available for download from www.hawarden.org.uk/ .Just look in the download section. Be sure to download its accompanying file which is the data for this airac cycle . . yes it will be updated every airac with "Real World Nav Data". An absolute must if your'e going to fly online. I'm hoping this will be adopted by VATSIM-UK as the definitive flight planner for flying IFR in the UK.ThanksGrahamBTW its freeware ;-)

Does anybody ever cover the WSJC FIR (Singapore) with ATC from VATSIM (or any other organization). I have found some serious scenery over at www.samsoftpub.com . WSSS, Singapore-Changi . Our new VA, Bush Logistics Corp which flys heavy and medium logistics support for bush organizations, has to go down to Papa New Guinea (AYPY) weekly and one of the routes we have chosen to get freight coming back to North America was a cargo haul out of Singapore! This new scenery would be the greatest, however on the other side if there is NEVER any ATC, I don't know if it would be a popular route or not. Much consideration would be much appreciated.Thanks-----------Wilson HinesCh…

I really, really want to try using VATSIM and SB. The VA I fly for uses it for fly-ins and it looks like fun.I registered and went to the FS 2002 tutorial and...MY BRAIN MELTED.It's a shame because I needed it for other things! It seems like the instructions are much more complicated than what I'm used to from the built-in ATC. Some of it (like specific code-named departure procedures) is totally beyond me.So... how do you get over the hump? I don't want to get on and annoy everyone by being as clueless as I am now. I feel quite competent with the built-in ATC and using FS Navigator to build flight plans but this seems kind of obscure and requiring a ton of work.Anyone hav…

Hi all,I've been using VATSIM for a couple years and I've flown into some pretty bad landing wx before, whereas in real life, I may have been told to hold at the gate, enter a holding pattern or go to an alternate if the wx is getting or has already gotten bad. I've never seen anyone use these kind of procedures before, am I wrong or is this too life like? I'd love to know of ARTCC's that implement these procudures.MaulWho Wants To Fly The Big Jets In & Out Of Chicago O'Hare...I DO! :-wave

Hello everyone. I've been out of the ProController scene since sometime before the SATCO system was replaced. I've just recently been able to get back into controlling with PC and those are my full intentions. I logged on tonight as an observer to bring back some old memories and remember how the program works. I hadn't forgotten much and am still pretty comfortable with the program. But, I noticed that I was getting some long pauses every few seconds with perhaps a 2 second pause when it did. Something go quirky with my installation? I tried all 3 US servers and got the same results. I have DSL that was getting very good pings from the servers so I'm at a loss as…

I note on the VATSIM web site we can get the total time we, and others, hve been connected to the servers. Is it possible to get the actual flight time displayed as well.I assume this information is available as you can tell if somebody is taking off, landing or in flight from within Serv Info.RegardsRussell Jourdain (NZL007/ZK-RHJ)

SAG launches the future of online flightplan management:The SAG FLIGHTPLAN CENTERFlying online was a difficult task - especially during the preparation phase. Proper routings had to be found and listed, the squawkbox flightplan form had to be filled in. Often the wrong aircraft was entered or the aircraft parameters had been set wrong. And last, but not least you forgot to enter the flight into the flightbooking roster - and no one else ever noticed your flight. That all is a matter of yesterday now. VACC-SAG now presents a revolutionary new concept:SAG FLIGHTPLAN CENTER ** http://fpc.vacc-sag.orgFor the first time in online flying history a VACC offers it

Usually there is a long silence before I hear the ATC ask if I am still on line. What is the information being communicated and how should the pilot respond. thanks for you help.Mark.
