After all my problems with the firewalls I am now getting close to actually speaking to someone. The only problem I have now is that when I try to connectI get a message "Your callsign was not found you must log in on a VATSIM server bfore joining a voice channel". I am obviously not doing something I should be doing. Can anyone help please?

Have read and re-read the tutorials in the PRC.On WinXPDirectX 9.0bSSDP service disabledUPnp disabled in routerBroadband connectionOrder of operations:1) Start Servinfo, click on VATSIM (I exported the file list to Squawkbox folder once)2) Start SBRelay - wait for status to indicate ready.3) Start MSFS and go to multiplayer session. Click 'search' and nothing happens. Try the 127.0.0.1 IP nothing happens. Ever.Have disabled Norton Protect, and have tried running it without ZoneAlarm.Windows Firewayll is off.Totally stumped. (this is a mirror from a response in another post. That was a 'stale' thread)

OK folks - I am almost there. Can get all the various parts to talk to themselves, however now when I get to the final step and 'connect' in SB, I get a response : GHZB>.Error in Callsign or Password. What possible errors could be in the callsign? The password is as sent by VATSIM....starting to get hopefull....PS zonealarm seems to be the source of all my previous problems. Nothing will work with it running. Am a bit confused why it was 'recommended' as working with SB etc., but since killing it is a simple fix, I will live with that for now.

Hi all my 1st post on this forum, I have it sorted now but I was having some probs with AVC tuner but I would still like to have a look at the manual if there is one, anybody know of one, anyway in the AVC tuner box there is a box to tick named "use range checking" what does this option do, to get mine to work I had to untick this box, also at the end of some stations listed there is N/R, what does this mean.Regards nick in the UK.

Hello guys,I have spotted a system anomaly when I fly online, I hope someone has a solution for it :-)Here is the problem:When I fly offline, everything is smooth, ~37-40 FPS steady with no stuttering. When I connect to Vatsim (NO Multiplayer) the FPS remain steady at this level (37-40) but the sim pauses for miliseconds every 5-10 seconds.I tried connecting to all Vatsim servers and the problem still exists. I have no idea what is causing this.Does anyone out there has a clue? :-)ThanksMariosP.S. My system is [email protected] Gigabyte GA-8IK1100 mobo, gainward Geforce 4 256 DDR, 512 RAM (Kingston@400) S-ATA 80 GB HDD, WinXP, DirectX9b, Latest, mobo/graphics card/bios drivers.

Have a small problem with trying a new callsign in SB. I change to a new callsign in the "Connect" window and get a message from (AVC, I think) that says "Callsign not found. You need to be connected to a VATSIM server to connect" I know there must be something simple I'm not doing, but can't seem to come up with it. Any help, anyone?

I am running SBRelay, and when I try to connect my computer to this session using IP 127.0.0.1, it just will not show any multiplayer sessions. I have recently got broadband and am using a router. I am using Windows XP and a Sygate firewall (which I do not intend to disable). I just wondered if there are any specific ports that I need to open in order to let the connection back into my computer. Thanks in advanceJonathan

Hey you guys. I have a very anoying problem with squawkbox. The thing is i connect to Vatsim after doing correctly all the things i have to do so. But, when i see my "tag" in servinfo, although i already have sent my flightplan, it shows that i am like 200 miles away from the airport where i'm parked at the time. Also my flight status shows "?" and obviously i can't communicate with the tower controller because for the server i am out of the airport... I don't know if this have to do with the Firewalls. If anyone can help me out with this...

I had some great online flights this weekend thanks to all of you who helped me get back online. Bay area on Saturday and Chicago yesterday. Great ATC. Only problem I seem to have now is with the CSL. Occasionally my flight would come to a screeching hault with a popup telling me that the plane I was trying to use was not fully supported in FS9 (something to that effect). Well, it did not appear to be a problem with the actual plane I was using but rather the CSL. Is there an updated CSL for FS9? ThanksDavid

I'm a new member to vatsim and I have been trying several times to log on to squawkbox. I am running fs2002. My problem is that when I connect to squawkbox, it automatically unconnects me 1 second later and the sim says "Sqauwkbox has left the session". Then squawkbox crashes. I am running XP and have disabled all firewalls. It would be nice if someone could help me with this problem that I cannot seem to fix. Thanks

I have gone through all the steps in the Pilot's Resource Center on VATSIM to get setup to fly online. Of course I would be flying online right now if it were successful.I start SBRelay, wait for the proper screen to show, then load Flight Simulator. When Flight Simulator 2004 loads, I get a message saying that hostsb.dll could be harmful, would you like to load it any way? (Something along those lines) I say yes and it loads. I then connect to my SBRelay multiplayer session. After that is setup I load my flight and run SBHost, and turn on squawk box. When squawk box turns on I squawk standby and connect to the server. When this happens Flight Simulator alt tabs out to a …

In recent communications with VATSIM, it has come to our attention that the majority of VATSIM members favor some other method of communicating than forums. Given that that is the case, and that VATSIM seems to be developing their own list server, do you see any necessity in keeping this forum running?

I went through all the steps for VATSIM setup with SquawkBox, SBRelay and SBHost. I go through the steps to connect to the server. When I get connected im alt-tabbed to my desktop looking at Adavanced Voice Client, but am unable to get back into FS to do my flying.I had already had a full registered version of FSUIPC and was unable to do the specific registration of SquawkBox, could this be the problem?I am running WinXP Home Edition, and whenever FS2004 loads I am asked if I was SBHost.dll to load even though it might cause problems, of course I say yes and then get stuck at the above mentioned spot. Any help is greatly appreciated.THanks in advance,Jake

OK, I am back online but I'd like to be able to use AVC to handle voice communications. My whole understanding of this addon was that I could simply dial in the proper frequency on Comm1 and it would automatically switch to the proper voice channel - assuming someone was manning it. It seems, though, that I still have to open the ATC directory in SB and double click on the controller I want. That switches my Comm1 and connects via AVC. Basically the same thing we had two years ago. Am I missing something? ThanksDavid

I asked this question a few months ago and someone gave me a link to the solution. Now that I need it, naturally I can't find it! ;-) Anyone willing to take pity on this feeble mind and offer it up again? ThanksDavid

Hello, I have problems connecting to multiplayer sessions in FS9. I load SBRelay then FS and go to multiplayer but there never anything there, once in a blue moon a session will show up. I have tryed all of these and still it wont show up, it will but it takes me like 50 trys before it will.- Disable Universal Plug-n-Play (UPnP) in your router- Disable the UPnP "SSDP Discovery Service" in Windows XP- Change FS2004's "Connect" port. On the Multiplayer connect screen (where you type the IP address), click "Client Settings" and change the "Connect" port to any other number -- it doesn't really matter, but try things like 23457, 23458, 24000, 1000, etc- Host a session in FS…
