Hi everyone,well it seems Squawkbox is quite an issue around here, so I might as well tell you my problem too. Downloaded everything from Vatsim...but I dont get very far. When I try to run the setup program for squawkbox it stops as soon as I entered the install path and the program group. Error message is Component Transfer Error, Group CSL Files...Catastrophic Failure. After that the install process stops completely.I ve tried different version of SB and different downloads but always get this message. I did try extracting the cab files myself and that works but I m a bit lost from there on since I dont know where the setup program copies all the files to and also dont…

Ok....I flew my first VATSIM flight last night. That flight took me like an hour of trying to get SB to work. Everytime i try to connect, it gives me a error message and tells me it has to shut down. You know, the error report thingy in XP. I have been trying to do it again all day today, and have yet to get SB to work. Ive restarted my PC like a hundred times. Is this kinda problem the norm or what ? If it is, this VATSIM stuff is great, but not worth the effort to me. Takes the fun outta flying when you get so aggrivated at a program your blood pressure is thru the roof.....lol

I was just wondering what the correct procedure would be for me if I had an engine fire when flying online on VATSIM. Is it even allowed? What I'm looking for is what I should announce to the controller - is it PAN PAN PAN and then vectors to the nearest airport that can accomedate my aircraft type?

When flying on VATSIM I get an occasional flashing of the panel. I suspect it has to do with the weather updating. How do I get rid of this?-Mikkel

When flying online, how do I know when I'm entering another airspace? Sometimes when flying in uncontrolled airspace I reach a point where I'm entering controlled airspace but I can't really tell, is there a program that can inform me when I'm entering it?

Hello. I've been trying to e-mail the VATSIM membership support for over a week, but EVERY time I sent an e-mail it was returned with a Mail System Error... I signed up for VATSIM quite a while back, and then was inactive for a while. I want to start flying on VATSIM again, but have forgotten my password. I have finally got everything set, I think.I still have some questions about flightplans and whatnot1.) I wanted to sim a flight from KBOS direct to KMIA. I contacted Boston center for clearence delivery..and got no readback, he just said approved and told me to contact ground. What did I miss?2.)I contacted ground and requested to taxi to the active and the controller told me I needed clearance first. huh?? thought I had just done that.3.)I also want to make sure I file the flight plan correctly. I filed KBOS -D-> KMIA and included the other information, altitude, ETE, Fuel, etc.... Am I correct?4.) Any other info I need to know before I try this again???Thanks.

Hi allI have 2 problems I would appreciate help on. 1. When I am flying on-line all other aircraft look the same as mine, I have CSL_ICAO.csv installed in the same dir as SB - C:program FilesSquawkBox 2. When I bring up the SB FMS screen, display view works fine, but the full view screen is cut off short of the number pad and nothing displays below the blank button below the ASARS button. Hi all, I need some help.When I go through all the steps, I am still unable to connect to SB. I'm not real sure on what to do so I will explain my problem as best as I can. Ok, so I start SBRelay, then I start FS2004 and go to Multiplayer and join the server that comes up when I search (127.0.0.1). Then I set up my flight, no prob. Then I go to modules SBHost --> run. No probs again. Now I open up SB, I file a sensible plan than I go to Connect. This is where I am failing. Hello to all. I am having just one more bug before its easy flying, CSL issues.The problem is that I only see the plane I'm in when looking at other planes. I don't think that I have the CSL files installed correctly and the thing is that there aren't really any good docs the explain it. All the docs are not well detailed. I do know that CSL files need to go into my aircraft folder (which are not in my aircraft folder) in order to work correctly along with the CSL_ICAO.csv that needs to go to SB but when I went to the site to download the files and set it up correctly the site said that the csl files are for 2002 only, so my bigest question is, are there 2004 CSL flies or…

I am trying to get started in Vatsim, I want to use voice comm and all that jazz. I have all the programs installed and I think I have ironed all but a few bugs. These two are the ones that are really killing me. 1) When I start SB in FS9 I get a critical error message that says "could not initiate file" or something like that.2) When I try to connect to the server through SB, I get a message that says invalid callsign or password. I am typing the password I have set up through VATSIM and I dont understand how my callsign could be off as it is set the same in all the other programs.Please help me!!!

I've started developing a training program for our VA that certifies our pilots in ILS/PRM approaches. Anyone know if VATSIM will be supporting these in the future? I realise the fact that there may not be enough controllers, or aircraft to warrant a PRM, or the hardware either, but any thoughts as to including these real-world procedures into VATSIM?Right now, MSP and PHL are the only PRM airports, but CLE, SFO, ATL, JFK, and STL are on the horizon, and these, especially ATL, JFK, PHL, and SFO seem to be pretty busy on VATSIM.Thanks,

I recently joined Vatsim and am up and running. I even went out and bought a new Boom headset. The big problem that I am having is that I can't seem to hear the ATC clearly at all while in flight Sim 2004. The controller's voice always seems to break up on me whlie I have been observing so I can never understand what it is that they are saying. Now if I leave the game and go to windows I can hear them much more clearly and there are hardly any breaking up issues. This brings me to the conclusion that it is a performance issue but I have a very powerful new computer with a good sound card, a lot of memory and good vid card, It's new system. I'm curious about something.When you're flying online in FS 2004, and warnings pop up saying other virtual aircraft are not compatible, does that indicate that they aren't in theSB CSL directory, or does it mean they're flying in another flightsim such as X-Plane?Slugger

Hi,I use FS2004 with PMDG 737. I recently discovered how fun it is to fly online with voice ATC and other pilots. I use the latest versions of hostsb, squawkbox, registered copy of fsuipc, sbrelay and avc. I can get to twr or other freqs and listen on to all transmission, but I cannot transmit anything myself. I read all manuals and configured everything correctly (checked million times already) but to no avail. My mic is working as I checked it with voice recorder and it's OK. Please help. Greetings,I connect to Vatsim accross Squawkbox/FS2004 perfectly, but when I see Servinfo or Whazzup map, it situate me at miles south-east (depending of the airport) of my FS2004 position. A very strange situation.I reinstalled FS2004 and Squawkbox (with SBrelay/FSUIPC) but nothing. I uninstalled sceneries, cockpits and aircrafts but nothing.When I'm on ramp, the ATC report me that I'm situated on normal ground 20 or 30 nm SE of the airport.Please help me and sorry for my English.Thanks,Iv
