I went through the entire VATSIM document and was able to connect to a server, however I kept getting an error saying I was on the wrong frequency.I followed all the directions and after about 15 minutes, I had someone connect, which I was able to have a conversation.I was unable to see any traffic.

Hello,I have around 1300 pilot hours in VATSIM and Im still flying there like a crazy :D. All the time I have been very frustrated when somebody joins and appears with same airplane model as me. If I am flying for example a 737-800 by PMDG, the model itself is already very resource hungry and if there are many such models around the airport, then my frame unfortunately goes below 10 or even 5, so its impossible to continue flying. Ofcourse I have copied the CSLs correctly in FS2004 and most time I have the CSLs displayed, but when the described situation appears then its really annoying. Ok, I've read ALL of the 37 pages of this forum,even if they were written before fs9. My problem persists. I can logon to vatsim hear talk fly... just can't see anyone. I have not used VATSIM in a long time, since it didn't work with FS9 originally. Now I understand that it does but I've kind of forgotten how it all pieces together. Specifically, if I have 2nd and 3rd computers connected with WideFS, can I have them run some of these apps (SBrelay, SB, etc)? Has anyone put together a guide on doing this? ThanksDavid Lee

Hi. I follow all the steps up to 'Click here to get into the Action' on Squawkbox. When I do so, the sbhost window remains grey and none of the options come up that are suppose to.Windows XP home (no firewall)Installed sbrelay, Squawkbox 2.5, AVC, hostsb.dll and modified fs9.cfg.I've been through the walkthrough a dozen times yet can't seem to find the problem. Hello all,I have a couple of newbie questions.Are all the VATSIM servers linked together? If I join a server in Europe can I still see and communicate with pilots/controllers on other servers arounnd the world.Does the IVAO network opperate in this way? ThanksMartyn

Hi,I'm a VATSIM newbie. When conneting to VATSIM in Squawk Standby mode the following dialog box is received: "Connect Error: WSAETIMEDOUT The attempt to connect timed out without establishing a connection". I'm using Host SB DLL from within FS9 and also tried using the stand alone SB Host.exe with the same result. My Linksys router has the ports enabled as per 103d and the referenced MS support document for DirectPlay. Running Windows 2000 Pro (SP4 with all update). Searched the forum for the error but found no hits. Any ideas?Regards,Nick

Hey guys,I have VIP2 and CSL installed in the aircraft directory. I have also downloaded and installed the file to use the PAI traffic. I have all the PAI traffic in the CSL_ICAO file in the Squawkbox folder and the aircraft.cfg in my aircraft folder within FS.Yet I don't see any of the online players flying PAI aircraft, only the CSL ones. Howcome? Does a player have to choose a PAI aircraft from the aircraft selection menu within SB in order for me to see him/her as PAI? Or am I missing somerhing here?Another question: all aircraft I see are floating above the taxi/runway and when they move it isn't smooth. Is this normal?Thanks!

As a newbie to online, it's kind of disconcerting to be reading these posts about all these software/system conflicts. I too have managed to setup everything as per the PRC instructions but when I click 'Start Search' for the SQ Multiplayer session, I get a message saying 'searching for games' and then just hangs. Have tried port adjustments, firewall on/off, Mcafee on/off, but same problem. Then when I finally was able to connect, the whole thing simply froze up.Do we know what the status with SB3 is and the timeframe for its elease?ThanksErich

Hi AllIts like this... Before I obtained my present notebook PC I had a regular desktop machine which was capable of handling the software needed to operate online using Vatsim. Those were happy times. I did not get online much because I wanted to develop sufficient skill so that I would not be a complete nuisance to others online and ATC. To me - online flying is the missing link between a good hobby and a really great hobby.Then I had to get rid of the desktop machine and use a notebook and after installing FS9 discovered that I needed quite a bit more software to get online (i.e. SBHost, RW, SB etc). Hi there,I am a newbie wanting to fly online and just learning the basics.I want to use my PAI traffic for flying online with Vatsim, but I can't createthe neccesary CSL_ICAO.csv.I have it in a XLS document (Excel), but can't convert it to an usable CSVdocument. When I do this from within Excel things are all mixed up and Ican't choose a plane during the filing of a flightplan. Hello All , I have a freind who is getting a successful connection to Vatsim with squawkbox and FS9 (he shows up on servinfo map display but he always ends up in the DGAC FIR Area off the west coast of africa) even when selecting say whitehorse in FS9 , What he sees is whitehorse in FS9.. He can see when controllers come online in or near the DGAC FIR Area as well as other Pilots that are near him in SB chat window.. We have tried several things , we have updated the servinfo servers list in SB , we have reinstalled HostSB and SB, He has Directx 9.0a , everything seems to be in order except that he shows up on servinfo in the DGAC FIR Area.. OK i have downloaded all the software needed for VATSm Sqwuak Box/SBRelay/FSUIPC and i have edited fs9.cfg likethe instructions said. But when i start SB relay and connect FS2004 to it, the i try to connect SB and it will say the program need toend and asks me to send or not send an error report, the only way to get around this is to start Sqwuak Box in the SBHost that came with it, I cant open it on the SBRelay12 on FS2004. CAn you help please? How can i get it to work on the SBRelay in FS?

Is there a schedule somewere of when the centers will be manned? I really like to fly in the Virginia area and would be a great help if I knew when Washington Center was going to be online. I know these airports pretty well and have sectionals and approch plates for these. Thanks.

This is probably a really dumb question but:How do I know when I'm about to enter a control center ie. Cleveland Center. How do I know when to call up the center and announce my position. Is there a way in flightsim to show the control center coverage or is there a map available that I could use to assist me. I just don't know the boundaries of these control zones and when I'm about to enter one.Thanks in advance for the reply.

I am a newbie to squawkbox and need some help. I use fs2004 and have v2.3, and all of the other software VATSIM says you need. So far i have opened SBrelay, and opened a multiplayer session is FS. I then opened hostSB. I have just opened squawkbox, and started searching for the SBrelay game. For some reason it is not appearing. If you could please help that would be great. Thanks alot!

Hello all. I am no newbie to Squawkbox. I have been flying online with it for a few years, but I just encountered a new message that I have not seen before.I start SB Relay, FS2K4, created a flight, opened multiplayer in FS2K4 (which shows up as player added in the SBRelay window). The problem comes after I choose HostSB and launch the actual Squawkbox program.It hangs up while "looking for games." I haven't used VATSIM in a few years, so I decided to try to get back on, got my password retrieved and loaded all the new software for FS9 to get going. I thought everything was okay, but once i connected, servinfo shows my position in the middle of the atlantic at a longitude/latituide of 0.00 0.00 I know I am sitting on the ground at my home airport. I am using FS9 with windows xp, I turned my firewall off, using SBhost 1.2 I was so excited when I heard the "DING DING" when I connected, only to find out I had more problems. I did also try the registering part within FSUIPC when you type in squwakbox and the 12 digit key, but that still didn't do it.Any help woul…
