This seems to happen fairly often when flying turboprops. I'm on course to an airport, descending into the approach space (e.g., "descend and maintain 9000"). Prior to entering the approach space and maybe 1000-2000 above the assigned altitude I get the instruction to "fly heading xxx, reaching 9000 resume own navigation", where heading xxx is usually perpendicular to the course to the airport. So basically you turn 90 degrees left or right, descend a bit more, then turn 90 degrees back toward the airport. Around about this time I am handed off to approach. If I had to guess, I'd say the intent is I'm being turned to keep me out of the approach controller's space unt…

Hello,I'm really glad that the new version of Radar Contact will have more control over AI traffic. This is one of the best add-ons I've ever bought for FS. Thank you. I am curious, though, about something. In the current version, I like to switch to the default ATC at 200 nm from my destination when flying into busy airports to avoid conflicts with other aircraft. However, when switching back to ATC, I get a command to turn about 180 degrees from my current heading and sometimes I'm just left in that pattern, actually flying in the opposite direction than I should be. I will note that on takeoff, I do request permission from the default tower, as well as RC, and ac…

Another runway question - I seem to be becoming obsessed with them.At an airport that requires a backtrack for departure, will the AI actually backtrack and takeoff, or will they just take off from where ever the taxiway meets the runway?I'm assuming there will be alot of go-arounds if AI are having to backtrack. Will landing at such an airport be possible?-Phil

Help! Just installed Radar Contact V3, and now my computer has no sound capabilities at all. What good is an ATC program if it turns the sound totally off? No engines, no comms, nothing. It is not the speakers is all I know.RL

Will the option to request a different runway still exist in RC4?If so, will the AI change to the new runway or continue using the old active? If they do change, what will happen to AI already in a queue at the old runway? And if AI don't change, and I wish to use a cross runway to the active, will AI be held while I depart, or could we be potentially meeting at the intersection? Thanks for any info.-Phil

Just had to move my RC over to another hard drive. Now when it runs there are some areas I fly through I hear no contact not all the time. I guess some sound files are missing. I am using the FS2004 version. Noticed web page has changed, how can I down load the sound files that was on the other web page for the fs9 product. Thanks David

LOA - so called Letters of Agreements and SOPs are set of rules that describe tpically altitude changes/restrictions when a flight is transitioning either from one center to another or between different sectors within the same center. For example in Cleveland center (ZOB) jet aircraft flying inbound to DTW and passing over say Dryers VOR would be required to perform a series of step-downs. I happen to have a complete list of LOAs and SOPs for Cleveland Center. There are over 100 different altitude step-downs just for ZOB depending on airport, flow direction, etc. They are not published on any aeronautical charts.Such step-downs are fact of life in busy airspace. Cleveland…

1.When taxing will i be able to use any taxiway i want to get to the runway or is GROUND strict with the instructions it gave me, example bravo delta etc...?2. Will the various switches "contact ?????" between one controller (sector) and another, that happen way TOO often within the same vicinity with default FS9 ATC be eliminated or is this an fs9 issue?3.Is the interface the same as fs9 atc example push 1 or 2 etc.. for commands?4.What to do when flying a long haul and not wanting to comuunicate with atc for a few hours so you don't have to stay in front of the sim the whole time? Presently after i'm told to contact center i never do until i'm ready, is it the same in R…

  22. I have often seen complaints here about the inclusion of STARS into an FMC and RC not following them. I have also seen Doug and JD's, and John's) responses that when Approach starts vectoring the STAR "authority" is ended.I have just watched some real world cockpit flights 737 and 757/767 DVDs from Just Planes namely Belair and Hapaag-Loyd Express.Mainly that's the way it is, folks! The pilot starts cranking the A/P (or MCP) altitude, heading, and speed controls which then dominates the FMC (unless you are deviating from accepted parameter limits) and the FMC will update accordingly following your input. I noticed on the EHSI the deviation from the displayed planned track…

1.When you are cleared to begin your descent does RC4 tell you what runway to expect with your STAR.. I fly into Toronto and the STARS have different speed altitue restrictions based on the active runway. 2.How good are the voice recordings in RC4. Do you record entire sentences or just words and piece them together. 3.Does Radar Contact make decisions based on weather conditions in fs2004. Such as the appropriate approach like CAT111 or CAT11. Does Radar contact vector you around storms cells? Can you ask for like a 10 degree deviation to the right.4.Do the controllers relay any more information than the boring default fs9.. Does radar contact give breaking actio…

How do I overcome the problem of not being instructed to lose altituderoughly in concert with the Flight Plan in my PMDG 747-400?On a recent flight I was forced to reduce altitude in order to make a safe landing while the RC controller became increasingly more upset with me for not being at his assigned altitude of 10,000 ft.In fact as we were almost landing he still insisted that I should be at my assigned 10,000 ft.I'd appreciate guidance.Cliff
