The FLY General Discussion Forum
The General Discussion forum for the TRI series of FLY Simulators.
| Richard Harvey Lake Tahoe September, 2002 | This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."
We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums! |

I would like to thank those of you who helped me in my endeavour in learning to repaint. It's been a long and rough road, but I think I may have figured it out (finally!!!!). I also figured out the icon and how to make it... now it's just a matter of figuring out specific parts of the plane, in this instance with the 727, how to extend the logo out over the middle engine and where on the .tiff file that's supposed to go.I look forward to being able to supply some nify liveries in the future. Here's a picture of what I used as my test subject -- PSA (Pacific Southwest Airlines) - what a favourite!!! Maybe it can come back to life, at least in Fly! II.Cheers!http://foru…

I think the only thing that would prevent the certification is a program that will check the reaction time of the control input. Maybe this can be accomplished with a DLL and I'd like to know what Here's the link to the Advisory Circular and, unless I'm missing something, this seems to be the only thing we'd need. What do you think?Regards,Alejandro AmigorenaCheshire, CTFly! After receiving some( expert) help from Alejandro, I got the gps working on the twin otter. Thanks, Alex. It now flies, despite some imperfections with the panel(I am still learning paint shop pro). From the picture you will notice that the center post appears a little to the right. That's intentional. The fact is that the center post in FLY will always interfere with the pilot's view of the runway centerline, so a compromise needs to be made. On my next cockpit project, the md80, I will try to do it ala msfs--just provide the captain's view. Afterall, we're all captains, right? I can tell you that modifying panels is addictive and rewarding. The time needed, however, is…

Anyone hear if there will be an update to make the EFIS functional for switching Nav1 source and the nav light positioning when using WinXP? I tried quite a while back to figure out why the CTD when attempting to switch Nav1 source but my limited knowlege and experience reared its ugly head. Any news would be appreciated as this is a true favorite for flying around. Also, any plans to animate the control surfaces in the side and quarter views? RealAir Simulations did such a beautiful job of animating the wings in the Citabria/Decathlon, I wondered how much work it would be to do the same in the Socata TBM700. For that matter all of the available FlyII aircraft :).Zane

Would there perhaps be anyone somewhere in the NY/NJ/CT area who has done repaints in the past... willing to have some sort of "in person" class for someone who's totally stupid? :-hang I've tried over and over and it just doesn't seem to work. And now I've accidentally deleted the tutorial that was sent to me by [email protected]'d love to see a PSA 727/DC-9 and maybe an old Air Cal somewhere in there too... and I'd love to help bring some of the old retro liveries back to live thru Fly! II.Conversely, if there's someone who can do the filing renaming and podding and left it where all I'd need to do was the graphic work, I wouldn't mind that at all. Any takers???John Bauder…

I attempted my first repaint on the Navajo and that went very well. Now I attempted a test repaint on the 727 and I can't seem to get it working for some reason... after I pod the aircraft and load it into my sim and start it up... it starts up just fine with my default aircraft. once i attempt to switch aircraft i get the following error message:"Unable to open PBM file art JA727ICO.pbmFile: pkbitmap.cppLine: 2948"I can certainly send the pod file to anyone who may be able to help me.I may try again from scratch when I'm a little more rested.Another question -- once I'm done with a repaint do I need to delete all the files from the ART/MODELS/WORLD folders???Also... ho…

Threw my niece in ole 27G last night and flew out to Indianapolis, Ind. just to log some x-country time and enjoy the perfect evening for a flight. When we arrived at Indy after a 24 minute flight (nice tailwind) turned around and headed up to Middletown, Ohio (MWO) for a burger and hot fudge cake at Frisch's. She snapped this heading back to Harrison (I67) from Middletown. Some things just make ya go ahhh and feel warm all over :) http://bartsflyplace.tripod.com/uplaod_sunset.jpg c ya :-waveBart [email protected]://bartsflyplace.tripod.com/bart_logo3.jpg

Whenever someone with talent has a chance, I'd like to request L35, Big Bear City California. I Terrascened the area and its beautiful. I'd like to add airport features....In addition, Harriman and West (AQW) in Massachusettes is another small airport I'd enjoy seeing. This area, too, contains beautiful ground textures made with TerraScene. Thanks much.-DK----David KohlFly! I'm sure that this is not possible until Fly is once again a developed product, but I think it would be nice to have some visual indication in the flight planner of which airports one had downloaded and installed scenery for. I have installed a whole pile of Wayne Roberts' airports, and prefer to fly out of those instead of bare runways. But it's something of a pain to work out which airports are good candidates.Right now to see if an airport is present, I look at my drive from another machine over the network and browse the data directory, but this is tedious. It would be nice to have this somehow directly displayed in the flight planner window - maybe installed airpo…
