The FLY General Discussion Forum
The General Discussion forum for the TRI series of FLY Simulators.
| Richard Harvey Lake Tahoe September, 2002 | This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."
We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums! |

Hello. I apologize if I'm not posting in the proper place. However, I was hoping I could receive an answer to the question as to whether it is possible to export 3D geometry from FLY! aircraft files so that tweaking can be done with an external 3D editor. I've seen a lot of discussion regarding terrains/buildings and some discussion about creating aircraft for import into the program. However, I'm wondering if it is possible to export any of the geometry from the stock aircraft.ThanksMark Johnson

I have not been doing to much with my abition to fly around the world, but I have recently started again. I just compleated my 16th flight! Out of 63 flights total, thats not very far, but four more and I will be all the way across North america!Landed at Toronto Lester B Pearson, Canada, flying from Sault Ste Marie Canada. I ran into a snag during the flight though. My fifteenth leg was a waypoint! I had to scronge around for a navaid to get me close enough to use the neaest feacher on the GPS. It worked allright though, no harm done.

At ROTW, we have several very long projects "on the air". A third aircraft builders group is born and he has decided to realise, for his first creation, an Ultralight plane (ULM): the "Cordouan".This ULM is ready to be achieved (about 2 weeks more): here are some pics.http://fly.simvol.org/images-forum/Cordouan_01.jpghttp://fly.simvol.org/images-forum/Cordouan_02.jpghttp://fly.simvol.org/images-forum/Cordouan_03.jpghttp://fly.simvol.org/images-forum/Cordouan_04.jpg

I got the original Fly! and Wilco's 737 for Fly! ages ago but never bothered to look at it until recently. When I did I was dismayed to discover that in exterior view one side of the aircraft (regarless of livery) appears to be covered in a spider's web from nose to tail (more or less) anchored on the wing. Needless to say, this completely spoils the view! Because of this I haven't actually tried to fly the 737 so I don't know if this defect(?) in Wilco's 737 for Fly! has any effect on how it handles in the air (or even if the effect persists once airborn). In any case, has anyone else seen this? Regardless of whether this is a flaw in Wilco's 737 for Fly! or not, is…

I am using InfoMETAR 1.01 - great program Ken! :-wave and have discovered a minor bug after changing the clocks back. Lately while downloading current weather, everything appears to be working normally and then I receive an error message about the current METAR cannot be found and to check my system time and time zone. All is correct. Is there a fix for this error, other than downloading directly from the NOAA site and then saving it through InfoMetar to correct the format problems with the text file. Thanks again for a great add on to a fantastic program.Wayne :-rotor

I`m having a problem with the flyhwk on takeoff and in the air. It seems as soon as I am airborne the plane tips to the left no matter if there is wind from any direction or no wind at all. All my expotentials are set at 100%. I even tried setting the airlon trim to favoring the right but it has no effect. Does anyone have any ideas? It only happens with the flyhawk and yes I have Rob Young`s fix applied. Also another problem is at startup when all planes are sitting at SFO I have to go to options "set up axes" and set default button or else I have no control of airlons with my FFDBK joy stick. Could these two problems be related? Any suggestions would be most appreciated…

I thought I would never be able to fly a helicopter, but after destroying a whole bunch I have finally gotten it off the ground and flying around the airport. Now the questions. How do you control the airspeed, I am forever going above 140. Also how to you go from forward movement to a hover. My thanks to all who respond.

Hi there,I've just got Fly II and I've installed all the recommended patches. I have one problem. I can't get the game to work with my joy stick! I'm using a GeForce 5600 FX and I have found the game will only load if I specifiy DX 7 in start up - I don't know if that is stopping my controller working properly or it is something else! Any ideas?
