The FLY General Discussion Forum
The General Discussion forum for the TRI series of FLY Simulators.
| Richard Harvey Lake Tahoe September, 2002 | This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."
We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums! |

This is fun. Naturally, if we want to develop a new generation of FLY2 panels, time is not on our side. The Rotw folks will tell you that a good panel is humdreds of top talented people working together. I do, however, feel that we can reach a compromise. That is, use a combination of old and new to provide users and devolopers an opportunity to do and see that ever important "evolution" that FLY2 needs in order to survive and to , possibly, revive additional interest. Here a pic of a 737 upper panel that acts as a background to a FLY2 default upper panel. What this does is provide the "look and feel" of a real 737 and the functionality of all the wonderful guages of FLY2…

Dear all,i feel i am after five years and a total of over 1000 logged flight hours have learned a great deal about aviation and all components of flightplanning, ATC, flight management computation and working with the most sophisticated aircraftsmodells developed for MSFS.Despite this i had an ugly incident yesterday on an approach to LGAV ...Scenario:I suffer from lack of time and there for request quick decent from approach controll twice. i am directly over the airport at 17000 feet heading 090 when ATC asks me to make a right turn to 205 in order to line me up for 03R landing and asks me to decent to 10000 feet. My V Speed is around 2200 and my IAS is somwhere at 290.…

Hello,Just wondering if Fly!II supports 'dual display' feature ...Indeed, my 3D-Prophet 9200 SE works properly with MicroSoft programms (e.g. MS Word on monitor1 and MS excel on monitor2).How can I 'move'/'un-dock' the maps e.g. to my second monitor ..??Someone experience in Fly!II and dual screen feature.;glad to hear. Thanks, Marc - 00_MPE

I sure wish someone corrected the slight offset between what the VATSIM controllers see on the ground and where a FLY2 aircraft is taxiing. There's an offset that makes controllers think that we're not on the taxiway. More importantly, as more and msfs airports have gates, the correct location( as seen in the vector map) for us FLYers becomes more critical.tony

So you like aircraft. Would you like to step out of the front door at your house and climb into your jet and leave.Take a look at this:http://heraldtribune.com/apps/pbcs.dll/art...1010/REALESTATE

Can you use the files from Truespace in 3D Max? Are the two interchangeable? If a plane were designed using Truespace could those files be used later in 3D Max, or must they be converted.I believe that Bart uses Truespace and pehaps he could let us know if that program is easier to learn and use than 3D Max. I have read the tutorials by ROTW on the use of 3D Max and of course to use that program is much easier because of the tutorials. The problem is that 3D Max costs over $3,000 and Truespace 3.2 is free.If I wanted to start a plane from scratch what program should I use for the design?

Some of you are not familiar with this name, for some others it sounds familiar but can't remember who is he.Andy Dale is a great artist in FLY!, a couple of years ago on his quick visit to Real Air left some snapshots at their web site of what he was doing in FLY!.. priorities changed and FLY took off from his hard drive to devote himself to the real life matters (Study among others ).My intention with this message is to gather his attention through all of us who appreciate what he was doing, and with some luck convince him to finish what he started... or if possible lead the path for others to use his technique with Sceneries ( A tutorial would be great! )So .. if you …

Just heard from the editor of the magazine. Fly will be featured on the CD in the upcoming edition. They also want to feature Fly each month on the CD that comes with the magazine. The last time I posted on this subject there was little response so I will try again. If you are an author of scenery, aircraft, etc. send me an email and let me know if you want your work included on the CD.

I am modifying many of Tri standard panels to give them more of a "feel right" look. I feel very strongly about being able to see some of the upper panel without necessarily losing the main panel. Also, a smaller window creates more of a 3d cockpit feel. Let me know if you want this look for the Kodiak, and I will upload it in a few days.tony

I wonder how many viewers like me take advantage of downloading new aircraft, repaints etc and have wished to be able to contribute with new work but have been somewhat bewilded by the seeming complexities of doing so. I know there are some very good tutorials out there but sometimes I think that it would be helpful if we could go through say one example of a repaint, aircraft/panel, step by step holding your hand as it were. I thought maybe the forum could be used for such a thing. In this way the novice could ask questions throughout the exercise concluding with the production of the final result. The string could then be printed off as a great step by step tutorial for …

Until being introduced to Fly, I was a ProPilot addict.I often used the view per illustration using the aircraft cowling. It seems that few sims have duplicated this apart from the Citabria.I have often wondered just how difficult it would be to reproduce this view in some of the Fly2 aircraft.
