Richard Harvey

Lake Tahoe

September, 2002

This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.

At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.

Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"

Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."

We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums!

After two intro flights over the summer, I found an instructor at DXR and started my flight training in a Piper PA-28-161. Thanks to ROTW, getting in the air was a snap! One problem. After about 15 minutes airborne, the bumps from the light wind gusts got to my stomach and the sweaty forehead, clammy hands, and generally crappy airsick feeling took over. I had a pair of those acu-pressure bracelets that are supposed to help, but no luck. Perhaps you need to put them on before taking off.I've spoken to a few and have also read an article on the AOPA website all saying that I'd probably get over it after a few flights. But I was hoping for some tips from you real pilots, othe…

this is from a SAAB 340 upload of a FLY2 aircraft. The craft is a beta , but It doesn't need much to become another great plane with a great looking cockpit. What you see here is a cockpit modification of the original. I am working on the centerpanel...., and I am still working on the B1900....tony

I've purchased, installed and start testing FS 2004. My first impressions are:1. Scenery has very real illumination. Very good day light appearance. Much better than Fly! II.2. Scenery has very complex models and is very well populated. Microsoft paid some attention to Brazil and I like it.3. Aircrafts exteriors are stunning.4. Very good sounds around.5. Panels!!!! AS ALWAYS. Throttle quadrant placed in the middle of main panel and windows. The same for Radio, GPS, etc. etc. And you need to use those unrealist buttons to open additional panel views. Not as in Fly! Up, down, left, right and there you are seeing what a pilot shoul see looking around.6. Aircraft side views f…

I have Just down loaded the Dhc6 and I am loving it! It's so nice to be able to set the auto pilot without looking down anymore! One point however, hit me while watching from the out side views. The ailerons move in the oposite direction that the should. The plane turns in the right direction, But the ailerons move in the wrong one.I know this is but a slight over sight and has little effect on the planes preformance, but I thought it a little odd.I would post a pic, but I know olny enough .html to write( :-) )

Most clubs are happy to have 100 folks or so and have fun with their hobby. I wouldn't get depressed about the billions(:-) of users who are not using FLY2. If we were in the business of making money with the produst , that would be a different story. I enjoy flying it, working on it and not feel "addicted" to all the many, many add ons for the other sim. Think about it? I've got Msfs2004 and have not purchased anything for it because I wouldn't know what to get; there's just too much of it. don't get me wrong, if FLY2 becomes the sim for the undergrounders, with some development, I don't have a problem with it. Where should a sim go? I don't know. When flight sims were v…

As you can see, the new cockpit mod has a number of features:1.autopilot access on main panel2. easy to reach hdi and csi knobs 3. a tighter cockpit feel due to a smaller view from the main window.I am getting a lot of help from many of you at there, but things are coming along fine. The panel is still rough, so bear with me a little longer.:-)Please, these shots are strictly for sharing the progress of my work so far. I have not asked for the authors' permission yet, but I will before releasing it to the public. thanks.tony

I recently installed the latest version of C4TO and have been having a problem. I'd appreciate if someone could help me solve it.Here's the problem:After first generating a flight plan and then initializing Flyscipts! I start the engine, set all my navigation and radio and then contact Clearance. So far so good. I receive my clearance, switch to ground control, check-in, change to tower, check-in again, get permission to take off flying runway heading. Everything is working fine so far. However, once I take-off and tower tells me to swich to departure, then the same thing happens everytime at any airport. After I check in with departure I always get the same message: "on c…

I just wanted to say thanks to Y. PEYBALE of ROTW for the smokestacks DLL. I just tested it on some new scenery I made of the Cincinnati Muni airport (see attached pics).I am still experimenting with how to use it. But it does follow the wind and is fun to use in the pattern. Harry Gentilozzi

It wasn't until I started flying the 172SP as a student pilot that I really began appreciating the realism of the Fly!2 Flyhawk panel. I get a very good simulated training flight on Fly!2 and have been flying my x-country flights in Fly! before doing it in real life and its been helping a lot! One question with the EGT I've noticed is that in Fly!2 when flying out of Jeffco (KBJC) in Colorado, the EGT reading is always up near the top of the gauge. In my real-life flights, I try and keep that reading a few notches below the EGT max which usually ends up just below the halfway point. In Fly!2, however, the EGT reading is always up near the top of the gauge. Does anyone…
