Richard Harvey

Lake Tahoe

September, 2002

This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.

At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.

Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"

Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."

We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums!

For those of you who have downloaded airport scenery that was done by me I can provide you with a spreadsheet listing the airports. The list has been sorted by State which allows you to create a folder for a particular state and place the files in the folder.Send me your email address and I will send you a ZIP file. The file was prepared using the Microsoft Works Spreadsheet program and has the extension of .xlr. I DO NOT collect and sell email addresses. After sending the file I will delete your address from my system.Send your request to: [email protected]. This email address will expire in 30 days.

Thanks a lot to ROTW Laurent Claudet for his HUD now available athttp://library.avsim.net/sendfile.php?DLID=3964949695.jpgThis is not only a big improvement for the Eurofighter but also for helo-pilots as we are really handicaped in some situations compared to real life, ie. precise landings. So switch off the panel in the very last landing phase and the HUD on and have control of the environment AND important flight-parameters like horizontal and vertical speed to avoid vortex state and be outside the dead mans curve. One wish would be left if there will ever be an update: a more precise reading of heigth and some sort of yaw-indicator. But also without this its a "must h…

Here's what the 737 upper panel with all generic fly2 guages looks like. There's still some work left, but would like your opinions. If someone knows how of a FAST way to make multiframe bmp images--these are what makes animated switches-- then there's a possibility of replacing those switches that clearly look unfit for this panel with newer ones. tony

Hi folks,Some members of our ROTW-team are working on a new project. And we have a question for you all.The question is : Are there FLy-ers , not having the Pa 19 F-BOERin their aircraft folder? If there are , and that`s possible naturally , they have to keep that in mind with the new project and use basic parts of existing default-aircraft.When we know , it helps. Please respond asap.ThanksLeen

As kind of a follow up to my post about TS and rendering Maine and Mass., I TSed 6 globe tiles last night and looked around a little at them this morning. They looked rather "low" resolution to me. Maybe I just haven't seen TS scenery in a while. But, I didn't use the Fly!II base textures that TS wanted to unpack durning the install. I installed the HITW texture pack that is no longer aviaiable (I have it on CD) and then I chose "Mountain County" as the texture pack. I noticed that it said it was for "Fly! and Fly!2k". Would that be my problem? I was under the impression that Fly!II slicer would chop up the TGA image at the maximum res that Fly!II can handle. Shou…

  21. Hi, I am using Terrascene 2.1 to generate some sceneryin my area. I have roads, fields, cities, night textures, etc. My problem is that my bridges are there...just underwater.I am sure this issue has been addressed in the past. Have tried searching the forum for an answer but have had no luck. Any suggestions for a fix?? Thanks in advance, Dave

  23. Started by Roger Mazengarb,

If one were to render most of Massachuttes and Maine, what texture pack would they use for best results? :)I installed the HITW textures for TS2.1 since I really don't like how TS made Kansas look (when I rendered it) using the base textures. Anyway, I chose "Mountain Country" just because it seemed the best choice out of the 5 I had. I pretty much kept everything default.Wonder what it's going to look like when it's done?Pieter

Hi Folks, another question I am looking for the answer to. I have been FLYing the Perigrine (Hawker) for a long time now & therefore have a lot of hours on the engines, acording to the history files about 90 hours. When I fly it now the aircraft damage report shows about 40% & is increasing, when I pull the throttle back to idle I get the warning light come on & low oil pressure on both motors annunciated. Do I have to take it in for engine overhaul?:-) I know I can get rid of this by clearing the history file but I wonder will this happen each time I exceed about 60 hours? It doesn't give me the option to repair damage, I guess this will probably happen when I…
