Richard Harvey

Lake Tahoe

September, 2002

This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.

At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.

Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"

Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."

We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums!

Hi all :-wave I have just completed 3 of the North Wales Airports Llanbedr,Caernarfon & RAF Valley. But I have a problem!!!!Just a few miles from RAF Valley, is RAF Mona EGOQ.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/42851.jpg This is a spillover for RAF Valley. The runway is there but no recognition of it in the vector map or to teleport there.Would someone be able to do the dex files for me to add it. You can see the Airport from RAF Valley and would be a shame not to populate it. I can give you all the details you need from the UK ICAO site.Thankyou so much if you can help me... I shall try not to make this too difficult, but I have been unable to use the TBM 700, ever. I have tried reading all the posts about the problems others are having and their solutions, but some of those remain unsolved!I noted that many more Mac users are having difficulties, then PC. I belive this has something to do with the fact that DLLs do not run on Macs, if I am not mistaken. I tried removing the DLLs from the Moduels/mac/folder, but It still gave the same CTD:"subsystem not registered (tbmf)"I know this is an excellent plane and that it is quite a shame not to use it. Thank you very much, I know this is an old question, but one have not quite answered yet.

If we want a new FlyIII sim, we must show all interest about FlY.Like I said FS2004 is a very nice product, but I think FLYII is a fantastic sim also, and I am sure in all computers they can stay togheter to complete each other. It's not important any challenge.I hope simmers think so.A dear hug from Italy to all forum (and not) peopleYour Giorgio Gnesda

Hi fellow flyers,I have just downloaded the latest Omega ATI driver for ATI 9xxx running under Win2K and have notice a good improvement in FPS.I have a very low end system and any FPS improvement when installing a new Video driver is usually minimal.Latest driver for Win2K/XP users is rad_w2kxp;_omega_2496a.exe and can be found at .Happy Flyin' - Ken

I was using an ILS approach into RW 15A KBOS in IFR conditions. The ILS placed the runway out of position. I have noticed in the Navigation section of the Fly library that there have been some corrections made to ILS positioning in the past.Is this a relatively simple task?

Today I was browsing through the file library and noticed the number of downloads for several Fly! II addons. Tony Cervone's DH6 panel was downloaded 250 times while Giorgio's Typhoon was downloaded 439 times.Let's suppose that 1/2 of Giorgio's downloads were duplicates, we still have almost 220 users yet only about 10% of that ever post in this Forum...If my numbers are right, I'd like to say that it'd sure be nice to have more participation and discussions with the other 90% of Fly! II users... ;-)Come on, don't be shy... :-) :-) :-)Regards,Alejandro AmigorenaCheshire, CTFly! II Beta Team MemberAthlon XP 1800ABIT KR7A-RAID768Mb RAMMSI GeForce4 Ti4600 8xAGP 128MBSB Audig…

in order to complete the flyers count:on our forum, at simvol/ROTW, during the two last years, 85 different flyers have written a post.We think they represent about 15% of the real numbers of our visitors, the 85% other never post. Then we can estimate we have about 450/500 french speaking flyers. And may be some flyers never go to internet(!)Are you agreed with this approach?

Been looking for some free aircraft plans so the rug rat and I can build a new R/C plane to replace the pair of wings hanging in the tree, gently fluttering in the light breeze at the school yard and came across this. He still has a problem with right and left when it's flying toward him :) but what the heck, we have as much fun building them as flying them!http://www.theplanpage.com/prev.htmThey are plans from old balsa wood kits. Neatest part is reading the articles that come with the plans, they talk of how "Charles Lindberg just made a record setting flight in this plane" and how this is the "fighter of the future". We're building an Envoy right now, I took the pla…

Hi folks,Laurent Claudet`s Glider DLL project has already been publishedin the scenery librairy.( in three separate parts )Today I uploaded it to the Aircraft category as a complete package.I added a special readme.txt for Mac.Because this project is a combination of scenery add-on and an aircraftrepaint this is the only way to make it possible to findthe F-BOUK as a Pa19 repaint. All the credits for the idea , the design of the gliders and the making of the DLL ( and a special AMP file for the Piper) are for Laurent Claudet.I was ,as always, just the painter , the man with the brushes.Regards Leenhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/42044.jpg

I just bought FS2004. When I installed it I was getting a slideshow so I tried the newest drivers 45.23. Wow! What a difference it made in FLYII!! It is much smoother and frame rates are between 19 and 45 depending on what is on screen. AND I'm able to use T&L without crashing. AND I was able to move the sliders up some more with no hit!I hope this helps someone!EarlSpecs:PIII 800Win 98SENvidia GeForce 256 w/64 MB video Ram256M SDRAM40G HDSBPCI512

I received the following message from the Editor of Computer Pilot Magazine this evening. It is an opportunity for Fly to receive recognition. The magazine is going to include a CD with each issue featuring addons for flight simulators and they are requesting submissions. What I need from the FLY community are suggestions of scenery to be included on the CD.They are also requesting some of the Flight Adventure files. Your suggestions on those would be of great help.We want to make this to be GOOD to show others what can be done with the FLY simulator."We would like to incvlude about half a dozen of your Fly! From the picture, you can see that I've added a more simple autopilot that looks more fitting for that upper panel. I will do some more testing and e-mail to a few of you in the next few days to make sure that this time it really works. I will then upload it. I hope I can do so this week end. Besides, you have Giorgio plane to play with.:-)tony

A few posts behind, someone posted a render.ini that seemed to work well for radeon video card users. The attachment doesn't work any more. Can someone post it again. Thanks!
