The FLY General Discussion Forum
The General Discussion forum for the TRI series of FLY Simulators.
| Richard Harvey Lake Tahoe September, 2002 | This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."
We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums! |

Couldn't get the download link to workbut it's placed under the Fly! II Scenery look for "submarine"it displays a static model of a surfaced submarine which would decorate your scenery and will be usefull for hover trainings in the Bell 407..... and soon in the Dauphin ;)take care, and happy flying

Up until now my Yoke and Peddles have been working perfectly with FLY2. However recently I have been experiencing an intermittant loss and regain of the use of the yoke, buttons and peddles all at the same time on an ongoing basis for no apparent reason or sequence of use.Key commands continue to work. I run 2 copies of FLY2 on my hardrive, one for testing addons etc. This copy has been reinstalled and patched to 240 with the same problem existing. Both Yoke and Peddles seem to work perfectly with FLY! The Windows Control Panel indicates the Yoke and Peddles and USB hubs are working OK. My computer seems to be working AOK in all other respects.P111, 1.3Ghtz, 512ram, Gfor…

Hi folks,Today I started a new repaint of the Staggerwing. It took me some time to get some usefull pictures from this (for us Dutch) important and remarkable aircraft. It`s the Staggerwing flown by His Royal Highness Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands.Making this repaint will take some time and probably some help from Jean Sabatier , the creator of this great add-on for FLY.When this repaint meets the standards I always try to achieve , I`ll ask His Royal Highness for his personal opinion and some juicy details about t(his) plane.Just a picture from the original for now.To be continued...........RegardsLeenPSJean the under-side of the stabilo and rudder have to be yellow.T…

anyone got a good render ini for a 256meg card?thanks
-
I just built a new computer P4 3.2ghz with a Radeon 9800XT 256meg video, 1 gig dual ddr400 RAM. I figured I'd check out FLY2 as it has been some time since I played with and I always wondered if a 256meg card would make a difference. All I can say is WOW, FLY2 rocks. I've never been able to max out all the sliders in FLY2, ever and get fps above the 20's. Now, I'm getting 70-90fps with max graphics settings and FLY2 just looks great. I can't wait to get some terrascene scenery and see how it looks with all the graphics sliders at max. All I can say is that 256megs of video RAM definitley makes a difference in FLY2. I also own another computer with a 128 meg Radeon …

Howdy fellas, For the last several months I've been working on doing Terrascene with Tiger 2000 shapefiles of the entire state of Florida. Almost halfway there and working on creative packaging to keep the file sizes down. Many thanks to Randall Rocke for answering my endless questions and walking me through the process until I got it right. You wont see any mountains or snow, you will see thousands of lakes and rivers/creeks with accurate roads and cities dated to 2000. Even the Dry Tortugas and Marquesas Keys are in there. When I start posting them in the next few months maybe Wayne will cruise through the state and do some more airports! Once complete I'd like …

Hi all,I have plenty of PC experience in general (I was a network consultant in a past life) but I have NO pc experience when it comes to flight sims.So... What do all the PC flyers out there think is the best version of Windows / PC Config for running FlyII, MSFS, and X-Plane?I may be looking into setting up a PC or two for gaming and flightsimming in the near future.Cheers---John R. Hi Folks, back to pick your brain's again, I recently landed at Darlington County jet port in South Carolina in the Sahara Airplane using Randall's superb TS'ed Fayetteville scenery. The airport at Darlington is not populated yet so there is no frame rate loading from that. My question is why would the frame rate change from about 20 fps to 6.7 fps & even to the dreaded 4 fps approx. with no change in the view. The battery power is off so there is no updating of the guages, the weather was a near cloudless sky. I have taken a snapshot of both conditions so I hope this will help. Thanks in advance for any idea's on where I should start looking to adjust to correct this …

Sorry about the long absence, friends! Because of the type of work I do, the months of November & December don't allow much time for Fly!ing. I've had a nice vacation and am enjoying working again with Fly!I've just uploaded a new TS render pack to fill in a missing segment for the Carolinas Project. The Fayetteville global tile is built around Fayetteville, NC. If you've rendered the other global tiles, this will now allow uninterrupted TerraScenery from Fontana Lake in the west to Cape Hatteras on the coast and from Raleigh south through Myrtle Beach, SC.Over Fayetteville Regional Airport with the city of Fayetteville in the background. http://forums.avsim.com/use…

Read the instructions very carefully. When I changed the settings in the fly.ini, more scenery appeared in the distance. From the picture, you can see that the left side is nicely populated vs no scenery all together. This is Oakland, CA,and this is the upcoming 737 with new panel and working upper panel. It will be a while, though. My teachers insist that I seek perfection, so..... more time to get the panels out.tony
