The FLY General Discussion Forum
The General Discussion forum for the TRI series of FLY Simulators.
| Richard Harvey Lake Tahoe September, 2002 | This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."
We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums! |

I've been struggling with a paint program in order to add the dc9 center posts. As you can see, they do add a sense of depth to the cockpit. It's hard , however, without a vg knowledge of painting tricks. This centerpost comes from an fs2002 panel which I modified for FLY2. I'll take comments and criticism....for I am not a painter.;-)tony

They increased my frame rates by a whopping 100%!! and in the clouds I am in the 30's. That's a full 10fps from my original drivers. There are two options: quality and performance. I used the performance option. look for them under Nvidia_w9x_omega_14403.exe.tony

Continuing the Carolinas Project, I have uploaded the Winston-Salem render pack - this tile sits just to the east of the Johnson City tile.A special note - there are two anomolies in this scenery caused by elevation issues: the Ashe County airport near Jefferson could not be "flattened" properly by TerraScene - apparently it sits across the borders of some 1/4 tiles; also, there is a small tear in the scenery just east of the Smith Reynolds airport. Once the rest of the Carolinas Project is finished, I'll come back to this tile and see if the Flattenator can be used to fix both areas. If these items bother you, render the scenery without the elevation mesh, though the l…

Have I done something incorrectly with regard to installation? On final approach picture, the two buildings lie along the taxiways just to the right of the runway. Thought I'd ask.-DK----David KohlFly! II v2.5.240Dell 8200 P4/1.8G, 1024MB RAM, Nvidia GF4 Ti4600 v44.03, WinXP Home Edition SP1.CH Pro Pedals and Yoke USB.

Recently Windows Automatic Updates recommended the new video card driver update. I naturally thought it would be wise to update but my Dell Inspiron 8200 now doesn't quite function as it should. In FlyII intro screen it lists the Dell 8200 as the video card and even in the computer hardware details Dell 8200 is listed as the card! Also unable to access some of the video card functions. The drivers are also available from Dell so beware of installing the one from Microsoft!Have e-mailed M/Soft and Dell and will try to correct the problem using their recommendations.:-fume

G'day all,I've recently installed a new motherboard and AMD chip into my computer and retained all the old hard drives with all my favourite programs still on them. On boot up all my devices were automatically detected and drivers were found for them so I just kept pressing next until windows 98 SE was satisfied that all was well and I wound up at desk top. My question is this; - on looking at control panelsystemsdevices I notice that for every USB device windows has loadeda USB root directory file anda USB host controllerSee the attacment jpg.Is that correct?? It sure doesn't look right to me. I would have thought that these programs would only need to be loaded onc…

I appear to have a unique problem!!!When I land with ATC guidance and the aircraft touches down I have no brakes. The brakes work fine when I do NOT land with ATC instructions. The brakes don't work with the keyboard or with the CH pedals. The plane eventually stops by inertia - but I may be a long way from the runway.Does no one else have this problem? Is this something that can be tweaked in the fly.ini file? Any ideas?I do have the Final Patch installed.Bill S.
