The FLY General Discussion Forum
The General Discussion forum for the TRI series of FLY Simulators.
| Richard Harvey Lake Tahoe September, 2002 | This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."
We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums! |

I am relatively new to Fly II (@1month). I have been using MS Flight Sims for about three years. I am interested in Fly II because of the detailed Ohio Terrascene packs by Randall Rocke. I live in Ohio and my parents live in Marblehead, one of the areas that are modeled. So, I have downloaded all of the Ohio scenery and Terrascene 2.1. However, when I tried to "render" the Marblehead scenery w/Terrascene 2.1, it gave me an error message saying it was unable to download (from some internet site - I am at work right now and don't have the actual error message in front of me). My problem is that I do not have an internet connection at home. Does the render process req…

Has anyone created a force feedback file for these two aircraft? I know I could do it but I thought I would ask before I spend the time. Anyone? Anyone? And yes, you guys were right. The force feedback in Fly!II is much more realistic then other sims. I like it alot. Add's even more realism to my favorite Stearman.Pieter

Hi, everyone.Does anyone use a 9700 Pro with Fly1, not FLYII. If you have a .vcf, render that works, would you please, post them here. TV

Why can't they just use regular statute miles? This way, when you read a flight plan, you can tell the real distance from your next waypoint as if you were driving in a car. Thanks,Chris

Would any of you great designers or developers be willing to teach an online virtual class? I would love to start creating things for Fly but have trouble with all the FAQs and documents out there on how go about this. With all the expertise in here, this may be a good way to keep the awsome add-on coming. Anyone have any comments or ideas.

OK - Let me know how this compares to the RW! :-) http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/18614.jpg And here are a couple more angles of KGKT:

I am certain there must be something wrong with my install of Fly!2. I am constantly finding that my taxiways are disconnected from parts of runways. This occurs at many airports where the author of TerraModels scenery has given updated taxiway files -- it would seem to me that if the author created these, the author verified that all taxiways align with runways. So therefore I must be the source of the problem. I am thinking it may be time for a full re-install from CD. But before doing so (as it will require a significant amount of effort to re-build all the customizations, does anyone have the "magic bullet" to this one? -DK----David KohlFly! Rob:A while back, you said you were working on TerraScenery for the Washington State / Vancouver border area. I have TerraScened most of Western Washington State, but do not have the skills nor time to work on the manual effort required to get the border areas. This part of our countries are so gorgeous... little island, big mountains.... I always fly there and am always reminded that I haven't completed the ground work. What's the status? Can you post files to AVSIM? Create "project packs" like has been done for Ohio and Carolinas?Would love to see this area of North America completed.Let us know.-DK----David KohlFly! Hi,Somehow my previous message got lost. So let's start again.I was thinking of designing a new aircraft (a small twin). Making the model in 3dmax5 - will make it in accordance to a manual. Eventually, will finish with animated fly controls. OR, may need to redesing it as the cocpit and cabine are more glassy then metal - to look nice.I have the plane with great characteristics for FS2002, so lots of information can be 'copied' from there. I cannot know everything, so asking for help and volunteers to either:a) explain me how to do things (may be quite painfull for you, guys -haha):( actively participating and doing things (not just for me but for ourselves).I can provide…

With the shut-down of the Avsim server over the last couple of days, I wasn't able to upload these files, so I'll give it another try this evening. This tile is mostly in Tennessee, including Knoxville, Gatlinburg and a portion of the Great Smoky Mountains. It also contains a small portion of western North Carolina, so we will consider it a portion of the Carolinas Project.Any way you cut it, this is a beautiful and varied landscape. There are some errors (lines, gouges, marks) produced in some parts of the day image - I don't know if this is due to the hilly and mountainous terrain or errors in the USGS data itself. I will include some of the edits I made to correct the w…

Puuh...at least it is uploaded now. While uploading yesterday, my GF4Ti4600 died. Right in the middle of the upload. Then I had to fix my own faults, and upload it again. A good thing it didn`t die while the project was still running...maybe the project was too tough for my vid card x( Well, check the pics in the Screenshots forum:http://forums.avsim.com/dcboard.php?az=sho..._id=57710&page=Best thing is to check the pics at my site.Anyway, Enjoy! Now u can fly in it but I can`t...

Can someone help me with the Scenery Editor, please? How can I see all of TRI's original aircraft in the editor? Right now only three show up. I know there are a lot more as I have used them in my sceneries in the past, but I just forgot how I did it. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

I have problems with dx8 renderers (whether using T&L or not), the screen is unintelligible. I tried both with original renderers and with patched ones (video update 1 and 2). So I have to use dx7 renderer. I own a Sapphire Radeon 9500pro. Do u know where I can find patched renderers, or if there are any graphics settings on my video card that work?

Two weeks ago I purchased PMDG's 757 200 for fly 2. To date despite an email one week ago to their support I have heard nothing back.I assume there is a file to download.Perhaps I have missed something in their web site which has been undergoing an update. I have posted this message here rather than on the PMDG forum to gather any background and experiences from those who have purchased this aircraft in the past. :-(

I didn't back up my Ui.pod file and now I want my original back. Zipped it seems to be about 2.5 meg. If some kind soul would e-mail that to me, I'd be mighty [email protected].

I posted two nice shots in the Screenies forum @...http://forums.avsim.com/dcboard.php?az=sho..._id=57467&page=In addition, I have a question. I noticed a black corner of some scenery (photo posted), but as I got closer, it disappeared. Is something to do with Medium radius? I noticed this "dark fade" problem on several tile seams, but it was most pronounced here. Great scenery. My question should not be taken as a complaint, just wondering why it happens.-DK----David KohlFly!
