I recently got my hands on a TrackIR 5, and have never used head tracking before. I have not downloaded any profiles or anything, and pretty much trying it straight out of the box. The TrackIR 5 software recognizes Profile: Default, Target: Flight Simulator X, with the settings of Speed: 1, and Smooth: 10. My focus plane is the PMDG 737-600/700 and I have noticed its quite hard to get around the cockpit with this thing. In order to get to the FMC I have to bend my head and a weird downwards angle and shove my head almost all the way to the screen, and then some times the TrackIR loses its signal due to me being so close. Recently I purchased both the piston and turbine Duke's and while I realize that the Turbine has a option to turn off the VC View Click-Spots I was wondering if there was any way in the back end to turn them off on the piston Duke. Love the plane to death but it is driving me insane that every time I miss click or just click back into FSX it moves me to some random view in the cockpit, especially with Accufeel running. Tried searching but its hard to figure out the right terms and I'm still trying to figure out why RealAir doesn't have its own forums... Anywhoo thanks in advance for any help!

Anybody know how to make an XML gauge that pops up the 2D window of choice? I've seen posts that say you can do it, but maybe there is a script out there or some code? I want to do it for the RXP in 3D cockpits that don't natively integrate it. I tried putting the 530 in by Panel edits but it is covered over by 3d model stuff so the popup are doesn't actually work.

I just did a few circuits at Christchurch NZ and FSX ATC created so many conflicts it ruined the experience. I know this can be avoided by winding down the traffic but it would nice to experience a busy airport with a bit more realistic traffic control. Has anyone got any tips or do I have to practice circuits in a field?

I would like to do a tour of the South American airports starting in Caracas down the west coast and return thru the central and east coasts in in 2 to 3 hour legs. A friend of mine gave me a call and asked if I wanted to fly to Geauga County Airport to witness the auction of a private collection of aircraft that have been kept at this field for quite some time. Unfortunately, due to other committments I am unable to accompany him. I went to the auction site to look at the aircraft and was absolutely amazed at the museum quality planes in this private collection. I thought it would be nice to share these auction photos with the aviation enthusiasts that frequent this forum. This will be an end to an era for those that frequented Geauga County Airport. I have a nice system , tho never peaked out any of my CFG files , and I have seen Frames anywheres from 85 – 175 PLUS fps. The BIG thing here, a decent system , and a remake of most textures. Microsoft thought every one had a NASA type system, so they made textures 512 x 512 , you can download a free version of replacement textures or make your own. Some I did on my a long time ago ( Around fs 2000 ) , Basically I made the textures 128 x 128 . The time it takes to load 512 x 512 chunk of data and the time it takes to load the same thing only smaller bits of it , was amazing. I have so many addons, I want to shed the non value added addons so that I can keep my FPS to reasonable level. I used to pile on addons and bring my system to its knees and then I quit FSX in frustration. I want to avoid this with my new build. I want to only have stuff that really add value and judiciously remove items if the price (FPS) is high. Please exclude Aircrafts and airport addons from this list/discussion since these do not affect the entire FSX and I can choose individually based on its performance and decide to add them or not. I am talking about things that affect the whole FSX like UTX for example. I generally do not fly over default scenery …

Guys, Im think of buying these two sceneries from Imagine Sim. A while ago I heard there where problems with KATL V2 and the night lighting...has that been resolved and are the Airports that Imagine Sim (Katl KIAH) up-to-date in terms of Layout (new new runways or taxiways)? Cheers!

So I just took the plunge... bought PMDG's 747. Got GSX recently and the Overland models really don't work at all well with it. Add that to already wanting the 747 and there's double incentive, haha. So naturally I'm wondering how big a learning curve I'm facing. The most complex A/C I have that I actively use is the QW 757... sophisticated-ISH. How big a jump will it be from those systems to the 747? Want to know what I've let myself in for :P
