I thought I would share my opinion of this aircraft. I love this aircraft it is one of the best made for fsx yet. But the problem I have is not knowing how top work it. I am use to tube liners where the plane does the majority of the work for the pilot I am also baffled with the FMC. I think I have the bare minimums of it down but beyond that I have no idea what I'm doing <nsertdogoncomputer.jpg> The few flights that I have flown in it ended poorly but I am still determined to learn this aircraft and master it! so back to reading the manuals I guess. ... no pun intended. On a serious note, my TrackIR (version 5, with track clip pro) has ceased functioning in the Dash 8 - works with every other aircraft. Anyone had any similar issues or have a potential fix? Cheers in advance!

Hi, I've been having weird problems at landings for some time now. These events are pretty random and can take place at any airport. Last time i had it at Santorini and this time at LEPA. I've also experienced the phenomenon at Fuertenventura. Everything goes well until i reach about 300 to 600ft when suddenly airplane shakes (like slowing down at first, then accelerating instantly) a little, starts levelling off and even climbing even though yoke is fully pushed forward. I did some testing, and i could repeat it at LEPA rw 06L. It has happened twice with AS Mallorca and AS2012 weather in different conditions but with FSX fair weather and default airport also, everytime…

For those that use FSBuild for flight/fuel planning: I just uploaded a set of FSBuild aircraft performance tables for the Majestic Q400 to the AVSIM library. These tables use English units (LBS). Someone has already posted a profile for the Q400 in metric units (KGS) in the FSBuild forum at www.fsbuild.com. Regards

So, now that the dust has begun to settle and people have gotten more hours in on this beautiful bird, let's share some of our favourite legs! Mine thus far has got to be Wideroe flight WF906 from Tromso, Lagnes ENTC to Hammerfest ENHF. (Now I know wideroe operates it on Dash-8 100) Both airports available in the Airports of Norway package. B) A bit more than 100 nm and the approach, atleast runway 23 in Hammerfest is a blast, flying quite low over the town and trees to land on this rather short rwy (880 meters/ 2,890 ft). Another quite nice, a bit longer flight is from Toronto City Center to Quebec Jean Lesage City Airport. Nice view of the Toronto city skyline…

Hello Just acquired the MJC8Q400 and I have some questions to ask about the control panel interface: 1) I am trying to configure my yoke (CH Eclipse) under the Flight Controls and Engine Controls sections and the manual states "The Flight Simulater must run in the backgound". After starting FSX and loading the Q400, I go to open the control panel and FSX pauses. As such, I cannot move my yoke levers and simultaneously view the position inputs in the control panel? Is this normal? 2) I also notice that I cannot achieve full deflection on my levers to set the power max/reverse postions and the condition max/off positions. I must use the mouse to drag the …

Chicago is my home town and I tend to try and fly in or out of the area (in FSX) as much as possible. FSDT has a great KORD and FlyTampa's update for KMDW is respectable. However, I am on the lookout for destinations. I tend to aim for shorter regional flights. I just came across Taxi2Gates KSTL which actually looks pretty reasonable...maybe not FSDT or FlyTampa, but still a nice addition. What else is out there for the Midwest? I know SunSkyJet is working on DTW. I found DreamScenery's FS9's KMKE, but doesn't look like it's intended for FSX. Blueprint's stuff generally somethign I stay away from. They're cheap enough, but to me do not add much of an upgrade.…

Hi I was flying in PMDG 737ngx, 150 miles from destination. I checked the OPUSFSX spy, and saw a continuous stream of the same message over and over to the effect of "Exception 3 from SIM" or similar. When I then tried to check local weather, FSX crashed to desktop. What might cause this to occur, and is there a fix. Bob

Hi all- I've got a question about how scenery loads in FSX. I typically fly on the west coast. Does FSX load KJFK, KFLL, ATL etc. in addition to everything else in the scenery library, or does it load that scenery when I get into a certain distance or something along those lines? I'm thinking about unchecking all airports/sceneries that I know I will not be close to when saying flying from CYVR to KSFO. Also I noticed another thing regarding this process. On my very first FSX load, it takes a while to load FSX and all the scenery which is fine. When I close FSX and restart to begin another flight at a later time, FSX loads twicw as fast. Hi all, I am having a blast flying the new Q400 around Norway's Wideroe routes :lol: I have the rather good freeware Norway packages available, and I have Aerosoft Mega Airport Oslo, Stavanger X and Trondheim X, and Cloud9 Bergen.........is anyone aware of any other payware-level sceneries available for Norway? Hi all, I experienced an odd behaviour in the sim last night. I was on the return leg of a flight from Napier NZ to the Chatham Islands (NZNR-NZCI-NZNR), already in the descent. I went to plug in my headphones and the moment I did, the whole sim froze. I could still hear the cockpit and engine sounds, but I couldn't pan around the VC, or manipulate any controls. In the end I had to force close the application. This is on Windows 7, btw. I'll have a go at replicating this tonight but in the meantime has anyone else experienced this with the Q400? Hi I have a problem with seeing the wings and props from the VC. Maybe its a EZdok config issue, can i have used a wrong view to generate my ezdok positions from?

Just went through a shock. After some discussions with friend on the price of addons, I decided to do some adding up over all order receipts I have for FSX addons, dating back to roughly 2009 when I started using FSX. The sum of it really got me stunned... Close to €3000 / US$3700!!! Now lately I am buying lesser addons. Not because I'm less of a hobby maniac, but merely because I have more addons then I get around to use. Some addons I still consider must-buy-the-day-it's-released. I would like to fix a problem that I think is done using an afcad file but not sure 1. How do you read these files 2.where do you get the software to read the files The reason I want to change a particular airport is that I've just started using UT2 and I've noticed that aircraft consistantly use the emergency runway that runs parallel with the main runway at EGKK I use the uk2000 extreme Gatwick and have it fully up to date.

Hi Guys, I'm having a problem with my FSX setup for few months now. No matter what i tweak or do, FSX FPS is stuck at 12 fps, and i really have no idea what to do next. I experimented fsx tweaks generated by web automated tool, and tried different recommendation from different forums posts here on avsim forums and some where else. I give up,and need help. I'm looking for some good recording software to record flights in my Majestic Software Q400 and my SimCheck A300B4. Unfortunately, the default FSX recording software doesn't work too good with complex addon aircraft and Camstudio isn't working very well for me either. It is unreliable when recording for long periods of time. Also, I know there is FRAPS, but to me, $40 seems a bit extreme for recording software, so this is off my list. Is there any good freeware recording software out there? Thanks, Nathan3219

Everytime I use Opus FSX the barometric pressure is always 3003 at every airport throughout the worl and never changes? Just wondering why this should be? Thanks.

Hi all: Is anyone running GET on a networked Win7/64 setup? I'm having trouble getting it to work. I've read both the "how to" articles the author provided, have my two computers properly networked, with the Simconnect Tool installed on the server computer. The client computer with GET does recognize the server (FSX) computer with a "green" icon in the system tray. I'm stuck at what to do next. I'm thinking that it probably is a simple step, and probably has to do with inputting a .kml file or such, but haven't been able to figure it out. The documentation is pretty weak on this last step.

I 've been tinkering/researching for the last couple of hours trying to fix the good ol' prop issue of FS9-to-FSX textures. This old AIA bird that was designed for AI use. It is all on a single texture sheet with the prop on that. So I have tried adding an alpha to the whole texture but that doesn't work. Prop is all black. So I tried just using part of the alpha all white for the aircraft part and then creating a dark gray where the prop texture is located. Seems to almost work, it is is nice and clear with the scenery behind it but when I see the fuselage behind the prop that portion of the prop is all black. Is it the way the model was designed?
