Hi all simmers/pilots!If any of you are like me, you havent been really bugged by the concorde being removed from service. I have been alittel effected by it, but nothing serious. The concorde provided 27 years of supersonic speed to many. But after finding a 5:30 long movie, i have a had a total change of my perspective on this amazing bird! I find it a tad bit odd how so many can be affected by 110 Tons of metal with wings. Check out this movie! http://www.flightlevel350.com/picwindow.php?cat=22&pic=278If you arent to bothered by the concorde, and you dont really have a opinion on it, check that out. You will soon have a new perspective.Neat vid, and a nice tribute.…

Hi, Being in the military and flying on AWACS in particular, the Air Force has been stuffing us AWACS guys with this DRVSM stuff for a while now, it was implemented at the beginning of this year and from what I know has already cause one mid air collision. And listening to our pilots VHF when doing missions, the FAA controllers seem to be a little bit slower. Has everyone heard of DRVSM yet? If not I'd be happy to explain it, but my question is, has anyone had any real world problems or concerns with this new system so far?Jeff USAF

http://money.cnn.com/2005/01/26/technology...dex.htm?cnn=yesHere's a quote from the article - "Microsoft is also targeting software piracy in China, Norway and the Czech Republic, where the use of pirated software is more widespread, by offering discounts to users of pirated copies of Windows."Reward pirates with a discount? I hope that doesn't catch on. I know people who don't pirate, but would put real effort into finding a pirate copy to get a discount on the real thing.

Hey guys!Met Robert Milton today, the Chairman and CEO of Air Canada Enterprises (ACE) and former CEO of Air Canada. I must say, he was the nicest guy to talk to and great personality as well, regardless of the bad images that news medias have been portraying him. The autograph says, for those who can't read it: "Michael - All the Best, Go for it... as this can not only be a great idea, but a wonderful reality! - Robert" I was talking to him about my organization.[image]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v519/Canadiandude2004/Robert/1.jpg[/image][image]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v519/Canadiandude2004/Robert/2.jpg[/image][image]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5…

It WAS a hot topic, but the thread that was locked dated back to July of last year. Dredged up and re-doing the angst from back then didn't seem to me to be a good idea, so I locked it.

So, I'm off to the airport to pick up a black lab puppy. She's 10 weeks old. This is her mom....http://beechcroftlabradors.com/ballerina.htmland this is her dad...http://beechcroftlabradors.com/studyped.htmland this is her grandparent on both sides. Hehe, he gets around...http://beechcroftlabradors.com/charmerped.htmlI have one already, I won't bore you with the details, but she's so so cute, I love her like a child of mine. How she's going to take her new friend, I don't know. Anyway, like I said, way off topic, sorry, but just had to share it and you've all been friends of mine. So there. billg

Well, at 2:41 p.m. on Saturday, the 22nd, here I sit in Dulles (KIAD) awaiting my flight to London and then on to Europe. Had to leave the house five hours earlier than I would normally to beat the snow. I got to the airport just as the snow started to fall at noon. It has really been coming down and hundreds of flights have been cancelled. Most are coming from or departing to destinations on the east coast or to the mid west. Its a mess. UAL is still showing my flight departing at 6:35 (normally a 6:10 departure), and my fingers are crossed. The snow has slowed down somewhat, but we are expecting sleet and possibly freezing rain later in the afternoon. That could put the…

Due to SNOW, the General Edward Lawrence Logan International Airport (BOS) was closed as of Jan 23 at 05:30 AM EST. The date/time when the airport is expected to reopen is not known. Take from AirNav's Life Flight Tracker, and sure enough nothing is going into or leaving KBOS.My Wife is due back tonight from DCA, lets hope their weather is a bit better.

First off, hello to all. Its been a while since I have posted in AVSIM, been busy with real world issues. My name is Al Lynch, and some may remember me as the FDX Engineer on the Simubuild A345, 346, and MU2 series. Introductions to the side, I am looking for beta testers for a new project.I am currently an Army ATC, and i've run into a little problem. Most ATC's train at one facility, and rarely get moved around in the Army (at least where I am stationed), and I tried to find a way to keep us proficient somewhat on as much areas of ATC as possible (GCA, Local Control, Ground Control, Arrival and Departure), and here is what I came up with.At Fort Rucker, Cairns AAF i…

Yes I'll admit I am biased and think that Avsim is #1, but if I put on my objective hat for a minute I would say that at a minimum Avsim is at least as good as any other site. Yet doing a google search on Flight Simulator you get the following results:Fightsim.com........Page#1, 4th from top.Simflight...........Page #2FS Dome (huh?.......Page #4Avsim...............Page #5.What's going on here, this site should be on page #1, and near the top.Mark.

Since AVSIM is now a dirty word (again) over at Flightsim.com, I just wondered if the censor was at work here also. How I long for the old days...sigh...DougWell, after seeing the results of the post I'm glad to see at least one site still has it right.

Haven't been on the forum lately but just saw this article regarding the reduction in vertical separation at FL290 and above that starts today. "http://www.usatoday.com/money/biztravel/2005-01-12-vertical-air_x.htm/From the article in USA Today Jan 12, 2005:At 4:01 a.m. ET next Thursday (that would be Jan 20, 2005), the required vertical separation between planes flying in a range from 29,000 to 41,000 feet will decrease to 1,000 feet from the current 2,000. The required horizontal separation will remain unchanged at 5

Read this in my local news. Of all the 737-200's I've flown, my favorite by far were those operated by the carrier AirCal, which merged with AA back in the 80's. Seat pitch was outstanding on their 200's, and their livery gave the aircraft a very modern look...http://www.620ktar.com/?nid=6&sid=19994
