Anyone know where I can download airport charts for Europe and the UK? I checked Jepp but rather pricey for a GA simflyer. I am using AirNav.com for the US and would like to find a similar site for Europe. Appreciate any help. Jack Wilson

Okay sorry about that large tail image of the new House color scheme for Airbus thread a while back. But now, I have an opportunity to share images of the first paint job of the A380, fresh out of the hangar. This is courtesy of a link to planepictures.net made available through airliners.net and of course I can't leave out the photographers of FrenchFrogSlides for the excellent capture of this bird coming out of the hangar in Toulouse France.http://www.planepictures.net/netshow.php?id=293951http://www.planepictures.net/netshow.php?id=293950http://www.planepictures.net/netshow.php?id=294003http://www.planepictures.net/netshow.php?id=294004Aloha all and enjoy these photos.…

In the real world I assume the Captain is responsible for checking that the Flight Plan route is appropriate for that particular flight. But what happens from then on? Is he also responsible for checking that the correct Flight Plan has been loaded into the FMC?Cliff

In real flying, and more particularly in low-altitude GA aircraft, how much is a pilot allowed to deviate from cleared cruising altitude in controlled airspace before getting an earful from ATC? For instance, if a pilot is cleared for a cruising altitude of 4,000ft, are they allowed to stray within 3,900 and 4,100ft (i.e. +- 100ft)? What about 3,800 and 4,200ft?

My wife and I are flying into Manchester International (UK), airport by way of Orlando in June. There are several options on how to get there, but if we choose Virgin Atlantic Airways, we get to make the initial hop on a 747-200. The only problem is that we arrive at 0725 at terminal 2 and then have to make it past customs, to terminal 3, and through security within 30 minutes. I say 30 minutes because you have to check in 30 minutes before the flight leaves to Norwich, also in the UK.I have flown on 707s, DC-8s, L-1011s, and DC-10s across the pond but never a 747. If I chose another airline that enables me to have plenty of time between flights, I will have to fly on…

Hi there!(Back on the forums from a long time as ghost, finally could sign up with an ISP adress)So you thought having the Cd in tray was bad?I just bought Half-life 2 and it turns out, dig this folks, the physical machine that I want to play on MUST be connected to the internet!! I can't even just get a reg# using the serial shown on the game-box. There ARE provisions for playing offline once being registered with "Steam" but several people are apparently having trouble with this. I'll return the game tomorrow, and I will NOT be recommending buying this game. By the way, only a small line on the back of the box says "required: Internet connection". This is absurd. Having…

Touched by the massive disaster that swept through Idonesia, Thailand and Sri Langka, I loaded my virtual 747-400 wth tons of clean water and nutritious food and took off from Butterworth, opposite the beautiful Penang island(which was also hit despite being partial protected by Sumatra; but to much lesser scale) and headed for Bandar Acheh which is probably the closest point to the villages unmercifully destroyed by the tidal waves. I landed OK. I only hope the villagers have real food and water from the relief teams that are working there. Spare a thought for this massive suffering. M TanCanberra

On 22 Dec I was on LO281 flying from EPWA to EGLL. Shortly after being told that the cabin crew would soon be passing around refreshments (cardboard sandwiches), the captain came on air to tell us that because of an air-conditioning fault, we'd be returning to Warsaw. Fair enough. But the temp was fine and we'd noticed no change at all. About 20 mins later he came on again to say that they'd fixed the fault and that we'd be carrying on to London as planned. Wierd.Anyone got any idea what could've been happening? Prehaps it was the air-con in our B733, but there was no noticable temperature change.Yours curious,Gavin

hi to alli'm wondering how the boeing types are named. i can easily seperate a B737-700 from a -300, also i have no problems naming any other passenger aircraft, BUT i don't quite understand how to know the difference between a B737-33V and a 737-377 (for examle).what do those letters mean? i've seen B737-700s on airliners.net, with "-7V3", "-7Q8", "-7C9" "-222" etc....and how are you able to know weather it's (for example) a "-7V3" or a "-752" ?thanks for explainations,Jaw

nice work Thomas. one question, how does this protect the copyright in countries outside the US, where the laws and legal rights are not the same? I have dropped the EULA completely from my recent uploads because I feel like it is just a waste of time. It has had NO effect in the past, why would this be any different.excuse my ignorance on the subject. I think this is an important issue, and may even revive a waning freeware movement. I cant tell you how tired i am of getting email chewing my butt off for one problem or another, only to find out it was D/L'd somewhere else and not even the original package. can my work REALLY be protected outside (or even inside) the US?t…

I was forwarded the first today--it shows a monster way towering more than 75 meters over the beach in Phuket--a huge, curling breaker in the style of the Banzai Pipeline in Hawaii. And it's a fake, and a poor one at that--a picture of a large wave superimposed on a photo of the Phuket beach.Observed the same thing after 9/11--some people are quite sick in the way they "entertain".-John

I've never been one to post screenshots, although I do enjoy looking ath them every single time I read the forums. But Today, I decided to start snapping shots of my own.Looking at you guys, I can't compare. I'm using Hypersnap DX Pro, and I have it set to Auto save when I snap, Resize to 800 x 600 and save as a .JPG HOWEVER the shots look like crap. I'm running a P4 3.8GHZ with a Radeon X800 XT but I can't take a decent shot to save my life. Many pics are over the 125K Limit, and they look pixellated, unlike the Pros here that snap smaller sized shots, and are crystal clear.Anyone offer some suggestions? Other than THAT PROGRAM SUCKS!!! If you think I should use somet…

http://www.flightsimnetwork.com/dcforum/DC...mID8/49197.htmlMaybe say a prayer tonight for his family before going out. FS has lost a great guy and a true member of the FS community. My prayers go out to the family and friends of Rey Lopez. :(My apologies if this has already been brought to everybody's attention. I guess this occured on the 30th and I just now found out about it. Rey was a true asset to the FS community and he will surely be missed.

I've just noticed a certain commercial developer who seems to have launched a new 'facility' to his customers - support files.Nothing wrong with that of course, until you realise that you have to pay to be get the support files sent to you. Here's a direct quote from the web site:"This new service enables users to sign up for a SIX MONTH period and have the latest support files sent direct to them as and when they are released....."This 'business' freely sends infomercials out to an unsuspecting database of would-be customers announcing new add-ons etc by email. If they can do that free, why charge actual customers

Hi all,Did you Know Firefox has a Spell Checker? I sure didn't. Exposed to something new each day I guess.I was asking a question on the Firefox Forums, and read through the FAQ's, and saw a spell check link.Cool, so I installed it, and now I won't have to go back and edit as much.I'm an excellent speller, I just peck to fast sometimes.Anyway, here it is, and when you get it, you can simply right click in your thread or wherever and it will spell check it for you. It's called Spellbound and can be installed here:http://spellbound.sourceforge.net/indexRegards,Joe****************Grab My FREEWARE Cessna 172 Voice recognition Profile here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esea…

Hello, For all you real world pilots and anyone else who may be interested, the NTSB will be sending letters out to all pilots informing them that additional measures should be taken to ensure that icing is not a problem before take off. The story can be seen here http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/C/CO_...EMPLATE=DEFAULT This is meant for all smaller aircraft in response to the crash in Montrose, Colorado which involved Dick Ebersol, while they have not concluded icing is the cause of the crash they want pilots to take the extra precaution. All the best!Philip OlsonI'm the luckiest man in the world, my girl friend has a yoke and rudder pedals! Eat your hearts out!http:…

Just a warning that I started receiving email variations of this old scam again a couple of days ago. Since I've never used Paypal, one can smell the fraud a mile away. I do forward these emails with complete MIME headers and html source to "[email protected]" which is their fraud department. What's interesting (I received this at my hotmail address--the same one I use for supporting my MSFS add-ons) is the last paragraph in the email text.Fellow Simmers, a good rule of thumb to follow--don't give out any personal information in response to an email like this. The link in the email asks for credit card numbers, PINS, DOB, address, mother's maiden name, etc...…
