This forum is for the discussion of things you might discuss when going into an airport hangar. Please make sure that your topic isn't covered in another forum before posting here. I'm wondering how much would be involved (how difficult) to transition from a glass 2-person cockpit into something like a B727 (old steam gauges, minimal automation, 3-person crew). I realize that this reverses the usual trend and would most likely never be applicable to real operations.Thanks,Bruce.

"Because they're a bunch of immature whiners who won't stop at anything until PSS is destroyed. They've been at it for years. In the beginning I thought it was jealousy at their success, later I started to see patterns hinting at competitors wanting to get rid of a major competitor. Now, I don't know anymore. It looks ever more to be indeed just a bunch of jealous kids combined with the entire community of software pirates in the FS community."This comment was made by a forum member. Rather than delete the comment (as Avsim used to do), the thread in question was simply locked and this statement was allowed to stand.I won't mention who posted it--users can look up the post…

Hey Folks,Here: http://www.geocities.com/atrmain/main.htmlAnd here:http://www.geocities.com/atrmain/buyng.htmlThe 15 year old selling it, from Finland, states (From FS2004.com forums) : "Take it is people its just a GAME nothink more!!!""its JUST a file, you cant smell it and you cant touch it!!! take it easy!!!""And i don't won't to pay for any payware addon.."He previously said parts of the paint and panel are from the F1 ATR, however he then edited his post because he didn't want to dig himself into anymore trouble.------------------------The Purchase page is quite funny- especially how he wants to sell it. Send money to his bank account, then once he sees it is there…

Today, PSS fired a huge salvo on piracy by publishing a letter sent to a "known pirate" with his e-mail information and name included. They went further by encouraging others in the Flight Simulation community to e-mail said pirate and tell him what we think. While everyone on this board recognizes the intellectual rights of software publishers and does not approve of piracy on any level, it's safe to assume that most of us find PSS actions in this case completely inappropriate.Let's ignore the fact that PSS did not give the "accused" due process and simply acted as judge, jury, and executioner, citing that they had undeniable proof in this area. Isn't it Ironic, that PS…

It has been almost 90 days since my last post and I was due to make a post so I could keep my account active. I was intrigued by the PSS theft thread and have been thinking about it all morning from both the practical and legal perspectives and was looking forward to making a meaningful contribution to this important issue. I will respect the locking of the thread, and won't provide any of my substantive thoughts. But I would like to say that the issue of how a developer should approach piracy is a very important issue and this PSS situation, whatever the truth about its details may be, set a wonderful stage for a discussion of appropriate remedies. I hope that the discus…

I heard a "Lifeguard" call sign tonight on my ATC just a while ago, and remember TWA 800 was a "Lifeguard" as well. What does a Lifeguard callsign mean? Also, on one of the ABQ ARTCCs there was a plane (commercial airliner I believe) telling the controller "...we have them on TCAS, but absolutely no lights coming from the area." Then "That's right, only on TCAS, but they aren't lit up at all". What's this all about? Military? Drug trafficking? I wanted to hear more, but that's all that was said, and I can't hear the ABQ controllers from here.I'm in Phoenix, Arizona.

Although this is off of my usual theme of aviation, many of us invest a portion of our savings in stock and even use the returns to help finance our hobby. The wires have been reporting an old scam has surfaced, where someone "appears" to have called your home by accident and leaves a message to the "wrong" number reciting the virtues of some obsure stock. The victims buy the stock, the price goes up, then the person behind the scam dumps his/her stock at the inflated price--and the victims get fleeced.I normally don't post about scam alerts--we're a pretty smart bunch here. But this is one of those scams that just about anyone can fall victim to if it's well orchestrat…

Hi,Like me, some of you may have been experiencing recent difficulties connecting and downloading pattern updates from grisoft.com.I may be wrong, but I think this may have something to do with the fact that all support is being withdrawn from AVG Free Edition Version 6.0 in December 2004.Not to worry, the solution is simple:Download and install AVG FREE EDITION Version 7.0 - yes it's still free :) and fully compatible with XP SP2.http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/Ge...E/lng/us/tpl/v5No need to uninstall version 6.0 - the version 7.0 installer does it all for you. Also, note that there are a couple of .pdf files you should download as well - a reference guide and som…

I'm doing a LOT of selling on eBay... and when you sell an item on eBay... you get 3 email messages plus one from paypal when you receive the payment. The thing is, I'd like for all eBay related messages to automatically go to my eBay message folder. I know there's a way to do that... I just can't find the settings panel for it. Anyone know about that?

Ahem, so did this guy. Apparently, got really confident in the A320 simulator at the Avsim social and convinced the captain on the ride home that he was capable of landing his Airbus. From the looks of the landing, the A320 allows you to turn "crash detection off"! :-lolhttp://www.jokaroo.com/ecards/funnymovies/...anelanding.htmlEnjoy!Mike T.
