Recieved this as an email. None of it is my writing. Enjoy!!!SudsThe Old Hong Kong Airport Got these from a fellow retired Captain friend, reminding me of the days when we used to fly this approach in Pan Am's Boeing 707's, way back in 1967 thru 1970...when I was based out of San Francisco. For those of us who've had the "privilege" of landing at the Old Hong Kong Airport..."Fond memories" ? Had it's own built in "pucker factor" didn't it ? Even when the weather was good...which was never...!! You know, the old punching washers out of your seat cushion type of thing...We were definitely sitting up straight and paying attention...!!Couldn't resist adding some of my own…

It's saddening to see how some people waste their lives on something so insignificant... http://www.cnn.com/2005/SHOWBIZ/Movies/04/...s.ap/index.htmlIf I read this right, many people are lining up for Star Wars more than a MONTH before it's released! Spend a month waiting for a stupid movie? Not just waiting, but waiting in line... AT the theater. Come on people...

I have been out of flying for a little over 2 years. I really want to get back into flying just for fun. I was going to make a career out of it but money got in the way. I got through my PPL and INST rating but I have not done any flying since Oct. 2003. What would I need to do to get current on everything. I think that if I was able to get a current medical done and find a airplane that I could be flying as early as the next day, but I would have to do 3 t/o and landings at night to be legal to carry passengers, correct? If someone could also refresh my memory about what I need to get flying INST also I would appreciate it. thanks so much for your answers.

Please people, if someone uploads a piece of software to the file libraries here that is clearly labeled BETA, don't complain to the library managers if you find something wrong with it. I uploaded what I believed to be the 3rd and final Beta version of my new Autogen Editing software to the libraries last night and searched all day today for it to show up. When I got home today I had an email from the library manager telling me there had been complaints of a missing file and the file had been removed. I put my own email address and name inside the readme file included with the package and a plea to contact me with complaints, praise, damnation, and information about t…

I know this is 'off-topic', but I'd like to extend my condolences to those in our community who mourn the Pope's passing.Although not of the Catholic faith, I had much admiration for him and what he achieved during his 'reign'.I'm please his suffering is now over - may he rest in peace.Toni.

I am not religious and not a Catholic, but I must note the passing of Pope John Paul II today. The major news organizations are reporting that he has just passed. The Pope was not just a Catholic; he was a man of history. He reached out to more than just the Catholic faith and tried to set a higher bar for mankind than any other world leader in the last 30 years. More than any other man in his role, he conveyed the message of faith, not just to Catholics, but to the entire world. It is my belief that regardless of your faith, Pope John Paul II touched all of us. We lost a world leader this sorrowful day.

http://www.cnn.com/2005/TECH/03/31/emirate...r.ap/index.htmlI have to wonder, with buildings getting taller and taller, what effect this would have on aircraft flying on the leeward side of such buildings?-John

A post about the Mooney Bravo got me to thinking. How comfortable is it for pilots and passengers to fly with Oxygen in the flight levels? Is there a certain limit that one can tolerate flying with an Oxygen mask, and/or tolerate flying with such a low air pressure?I've always been a bit curious about this, since TC aircraft are very common and always advertise the cruise speed they attain in the flight levels.-John

Usually I just follow the instructions given to me by ATC in FS2002 for landing at an airport. But, what about these traffic patterns, base leg, crosswinds etc i keep hearing about? Can someone explain? I like landing at heathrow, so if you want to throw degrees at me, base it on that (I can take off land and everything at egll blind folded). Thanks

HeyWould someone please explain to me how to decode ACARS messages? I have a RadioShack Pro-95 scanner and a male to male cable for connecting my scanner to my computer. When I have my scanner tuned into 131.55 everyonce and a while I will hear a screeching sound, I'm assuming this is the ACARS message, btw I have my squelch turned all the way down. Now with my scanner hooked up to my PC via the Line In port I try to use one of the free ACARS decoding systems (WACARS 0.7) but I either get one or two messages every half hour that are just plain junk, symbols and stuff like @&)$#%)(*, or I dont get any messages at all. Would someone please tell me step by step how to us…

For anyone that likes to read, a book called "North Star Over My Shoulder" by Bob Buck is a gold mine of information on the flight characteristics of the DC-2, DC-3, B-17 and the daily life of a 747 pilot. Also, check out the Combat Flight Sim forum at this site for 20 True Stories about WWII era warbirds. JW

Hi all, In MSFS sometimes(usually in a IFR flight) the pilot would say, for example, " American 4634 with India, ready to taxi" or "Continental 4857 ready to taxi, with Tango" or something like that. what does the "with *whichever letter*" mean??Thanks.

A company called Mile High Atlanta is offering flights in a Cherokee Six outfitted with a bed in the back. The company promises that their pilot "is very discreet" and that all flights are handled with "the outmost confidentiality". An hour-long flight costs $269 and comes with a bottle of champagne.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2

You are a South African bush pilot. You fly in some critical medical supplies, enjoy a quick lunch at the hospital. It's a stifling 100 degrees in the shade and you're eager to get back up to the cool, high blue yonder. On the way back to your plane, you discover that the only bit of shade, within 1 mile, has become very popular . . . You start calculating the distance to the plane door . . and wonder . . . "Do I feel lucky today?"

I just posted my latest 727 panel for 2005. It has several improvements over the last one, but after posting a couple of bugs popped up that somehow managed to slip past testing. They've been fixed and you can get the fixed version on AVSIM now. The first file was called "727 Cockpit v2005". It is being replaced with the corrected one, "727 Panel v2005". Sorry for any inconvenience.David Reed

I use Flight1 Meridian which I love - but have a problem. Using auto-pilot, the auto-trim is constantly is engaging (no problem there)- but the sound level of the movement is WAY too loud in proportion to all other sounds of the flight. It sounds like sandpaper on metal each time it engages. I have Dell P4, Creative Audigy soundcard - have experienced no other problems with any other software. Have adjusted all the sound flight controls in FS9 to no avail. Is there not some way to lower the level of this sound feature?I'm buffaloed! ANY help or advice would be most appreciated!Uvalde Al
