Hello mates,A friend from our flight school, 16 years old, also a VATSIM flyer, yesterday told me what happened with him. He was on Tower frequency and doing touch and go's with C150 when ATC told him something and he replied saying in the end as callsign "Estonian.... ee sry ECB" (Estonian is the callsign of Estonian Air) :D He said the instructor laughed himself into pieces. What added even more fun was the fact that there were two real Estonian Air Boeings on the frequency at the same time :D Imagine the faces of those pilots :-hah So this is what a frequent VATSIM flying may cause! Be aware!I guess some of you may have similar jokes to tell so would be nice to hear ;)

Unfortunately many posts as of late have been locked due to the actions of a few members. Before I go on - it is not my intention to point a finger at any individual, and I ask that any response also not mention individuals by name, or any reference at all.It is unfortunate that discussion gets cut off because of these stupid arguments, and I would like to request that Avsim instead of cutting off conversation to all - cut off those users from the forums when they hijack the post. Perhaps there could be a 1st offense - 1 week restriction, second 1 month, and third strike they are out for good. This is harsh but I think it's necessary. There would of course have to be guide…

JAHNo one really has a right to question a pricing policy. Their right is to determine whether the cost is acceptable to them and then to buy or not buy.I could build an aircraft and offer it at $100 chances are I wouldnt sell any at that price and would be forced to reduce the price until the market determined a level that was acceptable. This is the same in any free market or any item that you sell. My house may be valued at X because that is a typical price that a house like mine fetches. No one can stop me offering my house at X x2 but I wont sell it.The only difference is in a monopoly situation where a government may decide that becuase there is no realistic competiti…

Browsing through the UK air accident reports, I found 3 where contributory factors were differences between the aerodrome charts published as part of the UK AIP and commercially published charts.I made me wonder why commercial chart publishers prepare their own versions of the "official" charts rather than providing links to them?

Hey guys,Recently I have been bogged down with spyware and it has started slowing down my resources.I have SpyBot, Adaware, Microsoft Anti Spyware and the rest but this one spyware/virus in particular cannot be removed. I have run numerous anti virus scans to be sure. It's in my running processes and called "dvdplay.exe". It uses about 30mb of memory and uses some CPU power. It only ever launches when I open Internet Explorer. I have tried rebooting in safe mode to delete it, but to no avail. Is my only option to reformat?Regards,Alexander Martin.-----------------------------------TMPRADIO DJOnair Monday - Friday 1900GMT @ http://www.tmpradio.com

Hello...I am well aware of the two definitions and the difference between theBest angle of climb, (Vx) and Best Rate of Climb (Vy)...etc.However, the Cessna 172 POH seems to be vague on a particular question I have. Vx (Best angle of climb speed) is documented to be 64 KIAS. Yet in the procedures for a clean climb to an obstacle, itlists the obstacle climb speed as 59 KIAS. Both senarios relate to a clean configuration at sea level. My question is, "why would there be an obstacle climb speed LOWER than the speed given for BEST ANGLE?"Darryl

Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!The squad was too close to the door to close it. At the sound of gunfire, a dove dove into the cactus. The sight of blood almost made a private go into a private place to desert his dessert in the desert. A helicopter was called in, since the injured commander could not truck bouncing in a truck. He could still lead, if only they could get the lead out. His lucky camaflouge suit covered with leaves leaves for the laundry.Compiled from Reader's digest:-wave

One thing that sort of peaves me is that many commercial addon sceneries (such as Georenders, Orcas Island etc.) don't support mesh addons. Now generally if someone likes the localized addon scenery - they'll want to enhance the surrounding terrain as well. I can't see it being that difficult to support addon mesh - it just requires the localized scenery developer to include a high resolution mesh for their area - and the data isn't all that hard to get. Anyways does anyone share my feelings that commercial addon sceneries should better support mesh files? Anyone disagree? All opinions welcome.

Just flew into KDCA (in real life, I mean), US Air Shuttle A319. Perfect flight, nice aircraft! But pax next to me, by window, was on her BLACKBERRY 100% of the time. She totally ignored cabin crew calls to close down for t/o and landing, fiddled like a lunatic nonstop writing messages 10 miles long, scrolling, beeping, flashing. She didn't look out the window ONCE despite incredible departure views of Manhattan and amazing approach views of Potomac/D.C. She was a nervous wreck. Why'd she choose the window when I could've been there and enjoyed the whole flight more? Not my first time with a lunatic next to me. Seen plenty of others on all kindsa flights these past …

Hello friends :)This was sitting on my mind and I wanted to ask you all:Are there commercial airline flights that cross the Artic?Would'nt that route create *shorter* "long-haul" flights?...like say New York-Tokyo, Moscow-Seattle etc.Or are such routes not yet possible because of the very harsh environment and lack of SAR facilities?Would'nt that be exciting...being on an A340-600 over the top of the World!!!!

I was walking past London Heathrow (LHR) and saw an A340 thundering down the runway. I stopped to watch it takeoff which was cool. But the gear stayed down....he kept climbing...and it was still down.As he faded away into the distance (still climbing) his wheels were still down.http://instagiber.net/smiliesdotcom/cwm/cwm/uhoh.gifCan all gear-legs jam at once or something?

I am sort of amazed to see no autothrottle in the commercial releases of the 707 and 727. Surely they had autothrottle in widespread use by the late 1960s ? I can understand the original versions not having AT, but would it not be realistic to issue these add-ons with AT? JS

More than a third of the software installed on PCs worldwide during 2004 was pirated, with losses from unauthorized software increasing by $4 billion from 2003, according to a study released this week by the software trade group Business Software Alliance.Thirty-five percent of all software installed on PCs was pirated, down from 36 percent in 2003, according to the study, conducted by research firm IDC.Estimated losses from software piracy climbed, however, from $29 billion to $33 billion, as both the legal and unauthorized software markets grew from 2003 to 2004. IDC estimated that $90 billion worth of software was installed in 2004, compared to $80 billion in 2003, wit…

A Qantas plane flew lower than it should have near Canberra last year because its tired co-pilot entered the wrong data into a flight computer, a report has found. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) said the early-morning flight from Perth to Canberra was never in danger from the error. But it said the airline and the chart publisher had made some changes since the incident on July 24, 2004, to ensure it did not happen again. The ATSB investigation found the co-pilot entered incorrect information into the flight management computer (FMC), prompting a message from the plane's warning system. The ATSB said the co-pilot was affected by fatigue at the time, partly as a…
