I remember when I was a kid (70's) I had many plastic airliners which operated on batteries and had flashing lights/sounds, opening doors, made turns etc. They were about 10-12 inches long. Now I want to give my young son the same, but cant find them anywhere. The only ones I found are 4 inches long like in the enclosed picture. Can anyone help me out?-Mike

I have a few questions I hope someone could help me answer...Question 1: In real life, do airline pilots have to "wait" until ATC advises them they may start their descent according to theflight plan given to them by each airline...or do pilots descend automatically according to the FMC? Question 2: Often, airline pilots set a probable landing runway for their arriving airport on the FMC before departure...How do they know they will probably land on the particular runway?thanks,b. glass

http://www.ajc.com/news/content/custom/blo...rs_soldier.html"Speaking to 280 fellow soldiers before they boarded a chartered DC-10 at the start of their marathon flight from Savannah to Kuwait City earlier this week, King was thunderous, blunt and well armed with an M-16 rifle slung over his shoulder.

At 7:30am on the 1st of July 1916, a continuous line of British soldiers climbed out of their trenches in northern France and began to walk slowly towards the German lines. They had been told that the artillery barrage during the preceding week had destroyed the German defences. By the end of the day the British had suffered 60,000 casualties - one casualty for every 18 inches of the front. In contrast, the total allied casualties on D-Day are estimated to be about 10,000.When the Battle of the Somme ended in mid-November 1916, the British army had advanced no more than 6 miles at an estimated cost of over 400,000 casualties - the total British, French, and German casualt…

This has been making me mad for a long time and so finally I wanted to share it with all of you and see what you think. Is it just me or does the UK have a strange & frustrating law-system when it comes to serious crime?Almost every week some innocent is mugged, stabbed or beaten to death in the UK - you hear all about it - but you hear even less about convictions (which themselves are a joke)After moving back here from America I get the impression that:1. The law really is on the side of the bad guys2. You get ridiculously lenient sentences for brutal crimes3. Organisations jump to the defence of criminalsIm watching BBC News right now and--An 18 year old who is "ment…

Hey everyone. I got Phar Lap on VHS recently, and would like to make a copy of it for myself so I can send the original to a friend (I bought it for her but I wanted to have a copy for myself as well). My question is, since my setup isnt easy to get access to, could someone tell me how best to record VHS to VHS? Also, I do have a DVR (Digital Video Recorder) and I'm wondering if it would be possible to record the movie onto my DVR, then record from my DVR onto a blank VHS? Anyways... all I really need to know is how to copy a VHS since it has been a long time and I'd like to know how before I go pulling out my system to get access to the cables in the back. Many thanks in…

I hope some of the oldtimers(like me) remember a couple of events that occurred many years ago - different times of course!A group of flightsimmers meeting for dinner at the Proud Bird in Los Angeles, and another group meeting for breakfast at the Fullerton Airpot, California. Of course I was there at both meetings, but my memory of both events is extremely sketchy.I would be thrilled if somebody responds to this.Thanks.Abe

Hello all http://www.websmileys.com/sm/happy/042.gifI only recently got myself my first ever credit card. I live in the UK and used it on Amazon.co.uk to get some stuff. But now I want to get FSPanel Studio and it is on an American site and it is charging in dollars.I am unsure of what hidden costs (if any) are incurred when you buy from UK->USA? The price is $24.99, will I have to pay something on top of that?Silly questions I know but I am a total and utter rookie at this credit-card transaction thing...well international ones at least! Thanks for any advice :)

...but beside it.Some Canadian 737 landed on Feb 25, 2004 at Edmonton Intl. airport but did not land on the runway but just next to it. Pilots managed to steer the aircraft back onto the runway after the landing. In the process they knocked out several lights and some sign. The reason for this accident being quoted was: poor runway lighting, tired pilots, deteriorating visibility and wrong autopilot selection.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_beta_member.jpg

I'm doing some research for a possible standalone FS career mode project. Part of the project will include a salary system, where completed jobs will return a salary based on your rank/number of hours flown. Can anyone advise me (or point me in the direction) on some ballpark figures of how much a prop/turboprop charter pilot might earn per hour or per mile or per month or per year.. anything really, just so my pay scales aren't completely off the mark. :) An average even would be good, so I can adjust upwards or downwards according to rank. Thanks in advance for any help.
