I just returned to the U.S. from a business trip to Italy via Germany. Mixture of Coach and Business Class on UNITED, Lufthansa, and Air One. Forget the flying--that was easy (and even exciting at times), as it always is--but read this: In Frankfurt, Milan, Rome, and Munich, we were bussed to and from our aircraft because no jetways were available at any airports for my flights. Plus of course on return to KIAD we had the wretched "people mover" to U.S. Immigration. It felt like flying used to be in 1958....I don't get it. Travel has just become one huge big international lie. It's uncomfortable, stressful, competitive, and exhausting--in any class.Munich was a horrib…

http://www.avsim.com/forms/piracy.htmlGo there, enter in your name and email address, then.........Tell them to search for the user name media-exports on eb**(this is not a plug, since I am not allowed to link to their website or mention them, which is understandable)Submit the report. Something will be done hopefully. 2 or so hours left before a crook gets away with making dough off of FS software he has no right to!

Ryanair, a UK budget airline, is reported to have banned its staff from charging mobile phones at work to save money. Staff already have to buy their own uniforms.http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/beds/bu...rts/4471833.stm

Is the following true? Is it a continuing practice? The unauthorized placement on some sites of the work product of authors, who do not charge for the use of such product, continues. This link http://www.gjsmith.net/ will take you to a site where the author is taking a stand and attempting to establish a foundation for action against the predatory actions of some flight simulator sites. While the product produced is free, to place that product on a site that charges for access, or premium access, is a violation of the intent of the author unless specifically authorized. These sites continue to flourish as users of these sites contribute to this immoral, if not illegal prac…

interesting discussion i had with a friend who was telling me after asking him about what aircraft do captains fly as far as flying the same aircraft like a 727, 737, 747, etc. or would they say fly a 747 on one flight then a 737 on another. he said a captain told him not long ago about the restrictions on pilots and aircraft. said the japanese, i think it was, are restricted to fly the same flight route all the time. they would fly to the same destination all the time. other airlines have restrictions that aren't as tight but the captain told him he had been flying the dc 10 for over 15 years and that is all he flew. i think it's a good safety features myself. at least t…

In regards to the post regarding Senator Santorum's bill and the NWS (linked here):http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...18679&mode=fullI have contacted Sen. Santorum's offices via email and quite bluntly reminded him that he should not be entertaining the needs of one small sector of the constituency. This is pork barrel politics through and through. I have also contacted my own state's sentators to urge them to vote against this bill.I have written some additional comments on a blog for which I write. If you're interested, the link is this:http://abetterfuture.blogspot.com/2005/04/...l-national.htmlSenator Santorum's contact information is easily located t…

Recently I have seen posts on this and other flightsim sites suggesting that users bypass the installer I created for my Stearman (Stear04.zip). I worked very hard and spent many hours to make the installation as clean and easy as possible. However, due to some recommending bypassing the installer, I have heard from several users who have sprayed the files all over their computers and now want my help in sorting it out. Sorry, but I made it easy for you. If you want to mess that up then you're on your own.In addition, AVG is reporting a FALSE POSITIVE for the presence of a virus/Trojan horse. This is NOT true. When you use cheap or free av software, you get what you pay f…

My daughter (8 years old) is now really starting to get into flying (ALL RIGHT!)And... she is nuts about J3 Cubs. She has tee shirts with them on it, she reads about them, she and I are building a model of one. But... I can't afford to buy one (well, really, I can't justify spending upwards of 35K on one, anyway), but I would love to get her a ride in one. Does anyone know of a company or flight school in the NorthEast or Southern California or Arizona (Phoenix) regions where they offer rides in a J3?TIARich

Hi everyone...I have a question for you all...When you depart from an airport on IFR, is it mandatory to follow the published Instrument Departure?I searched through the online FAA regulations, but I could only find mention of approach procedures, which you must follow when on IFR flight. Nothing about IFR departures. My conclusion is that it is up to the pilot (and/or ATC?) to follow or not a published departure procedure..Thank you

Just happened across a video site linked from another popular sim site.To my dismay I found I could download videos of airplane crashes. One or two are obviously test flights but others obviously involved the loss of life. The title of one (I didn't watch, stopped at this point), is a crash at an airshow that I visited. Fortunately for my children we had started to leave so they didn't see it and we were out of the airshow grounds before any of the commotion kicked off.I can understand them being available on the internet in general, but these things being available on an 'enthusiasts' site frankly makes it apparent what many people find interesting about aviation.

Dear flight simmers,The 21th of April 2005 the by now world famous network GlobalSIM has let us know that after 5 months of hard work and thorough testing it is ready for the real McCoy. GlobalSIM has a very stable network and a supreme software package. The now active divisions within GlobalSIM can now concentrate on putting high quality ATC service in the air and in that way giving our pilots the best possible service. The full automated theory exams (in local language) is already up and running for some time (mind you result within 20 min.) and of above date the practical exams are executed by
