Dear Simmers, I'm just curious in what the most 737 cockpit builders are interested to. QUESTION: What are you looking for if you were to buy an 737NG Overhead panel? ( considering cost and quality ) 1° An overhead panel which is fully operational ( Plug n' Play ) => Very High cost, No work 2° An overhead panel which is standard fully operational ( Plug n' Play with less attention to detail ) => High cost, No work 3° An overhead panel which I bought online without any buttons, gauges, switches so you have to make it yourself => Medium cost, A lot of work 4° An overhead panel of which I bought every part ( 18 panels ) separately and asse…

We are slowing turning on Topic Ratings for all forums. Since we have a couple of hundred forums, that may take us awhile. As of this writing, we have turned on ratings for AVSIM specific forums and all of the Microsoft forums. We're working our way down the list, and sooner or later all will be turned on. We have added a feature that allows you to open up the forum category, say MS FSX and in the list of topics, you will rating stars next to each topic. These stars represent your opinion of the topic and your rating of it using 1 through 5 starts, with 5 stars being best. The total numbers of stars displayed in gold are the average of every user's vote. You can only …

I thought this video was pretty cool. The Slinky originally designed by a U.S. naval mechanical engineer in the early 1940s is a past time for many of us, here is a slow motion video of how it reacts in a freefall:

So I came across this forum this morning while browsing some video game dogfight videos. Im a big enthusiast of piloting video games and I watched a couple clips of the Microsoft Flight simulator and I liked it but without some type of air combat, flight seems too plain to me. Maybe Ive played 'dog fights' so long that Im used to it. I understand that a lot of people play the flight simulators for just that, flight simulation. But I know there has to be gamers on this forum that like air combat. Well if your one of them and havent tried one of the following games, you should. My very favorite would have to be, and before you brush me away, hear me out: GTA 4. …

Teamspeak is growing. There has even been a few times when most of the conversation is about introducing each other. Avsim members are starting to give Teamspeak a try and are really surprised at how easy it is to download, install and setup. There is nothing quite like getting to talk to someone in person who you have known by a pen name for years. Yesterday Jean Paul Mes from France and I got to speak to each other for the first time, after years of reading each others posts. It is great to place a voice to a face and mind. That alone makes Teamspeak worth doing. Come on in! Kind regards,

With the Olympics going on, and all the chaos that will be in and around London Im going to leave it this year. Im disappointed about missing the Virgin Galactic Craft being there and a few more newbies to the show... What are your plans for the summer show? Regards Ciaran.

This is the strangest thing I've ever seen http://www.dailymail...r.html?ITO=1490 Many animal lovers find it hard to part with their pets when they die. So when cat Orville, named after the famous aviator Orville Wright, was run over by a car, his artist owner decided to turn him into a permanent piece of artwork as the ultimate tribute by transforming him into a flying helicopter. Dutch artist Bart Jansen first stuffed Orville before teaming up with radio control helicopter flyer Arjen Beltman to build a specially-designed flying mechanism to attach to the cat.

By the time I'm done loading my sunglasses, coffee, GPS, cell phone, cables, converters and everything else into my car, just about ever piece of usable real estate has been used up, and I often end up laying my Android on my thigh while driving, so that I can easily see the caller ID, maps, whatever. If you follow my meaning, this really seems like the safest way to do things, because if I store it anywhere else, I'm going to try and look at the screen for one reason or another . . . even if just out of curiousity. And, this practice keeps leading me back to the thought about "Why not just get a kneeboard?" What do other people do? I can't believe I'm the only person…

http://www.cherigardiner.com.au/index.php/speakers/business-speakers/item/17-geoffrey-thomas In these forums there is one particular chap saying "Don't quote ANYTHING Geoffrey Thomas says". I have provided the link which is basically his CV and he is a renown International Aviation Journalist. There is much more at the link and readers should note the testimonials at the bottom of the page. Having spoken to Geoff over the years myself I find it offensive to have someone tell me not to 'quote' one of Australia's foremost experts in Australian journalism on aviation. And Geoff is very precise with his information. Leading international aviatio…

747 price crash. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-06-13/boeing-747-prices-tumble-as-higher-fuel-costs-end-23-year-reign.html "The move away from larger planes has curtailed sales of the A380 and the 747-8, according toRichard Aboulafia, vice president of the Teal Group, a Fairfax, Virginia forecaster. Airbus has sold 253 A380s. Boeing has orders for 106 747-8s, of which only 27 are for commercial passenger operations. “The market for large aircraft in general is disappearing fast,” Aboulafia said. “Most of the 747-8 planes are cargo. There’s just a limited market.”" Boeing have produced the 787 at the perfect time.
