I've never used Steam since I am not a "gamer" but I want to buy F1 2011 from Steam. I have already created an online account and all that is left to do is go through the purchase phase. However I have the following few questions which I cant seem to find a google answer for. 1. After purchasing a game via Steam using a web browser, do you get a download email link for the .exe or do you download it via a link on the purchase page? 2. If I buy it via my internet computer and download it on my internet computer, can I then take the downloaded .exe which I will put on a portable HD and install it on my FSX computer? 3. Is it necessary to actually install the St…

Hi guys, I have a question about Virgin Atlantic's a340 livery updates. It seem's to be that they only update their 747s and not their 340s (besides G-VRED) which still isn't the new design. I've noticed this because I always fly on their 340s when flying to LAX and they are always the old liveries with the blue outline around the letters and silver paint. I find it rather strange as to why they would rather update their much older 747s than their a340s which is the company's most common aircraft and used on a much wider variety of routes. How much longer are we going to see this old outdated livery in Virgin's fleet and instead see the new fresh under the belly livery. …

Around the 1980s or so TWA had a long haul flight from JFK to Cairo. Then, they had a semi-short haul to Riyadh. Why do airlines do that? Is it for crew reasons?

A completely off topic question but here goes.... Im sure allot of you are having the same problem as I am by choosing a case for your iPhone. Its a simple but a very difficult task to complete, Dont know how many covers I have gone through these past few months... But its allot. Im looking for the perfect flip up leather case for the iPhone 4S. Does anyone know of a good one, and could you post some suggestions as the addiction to buying 'crappy' iPhone cases is going beyond what I have imagined... :P

HI I remember a section about an upcoming sim building upon FSX but for WebGL, but cannot refind it. I wanted to ask what apps they use to develop for HTML5/WebGL? Anyone remembers the link to that project or knows about IDE's supporting WebGL? Thanks

As most pilots I know, I have a passing interest in all things maritime. I'm not sure what the connection is, but it's undoubtedly there for many of us. More specifically, submarine warfare catches my interest. I decided to pull Silent Hunter 4 and the U-Boat missions add-on out of "storage" (My favorite of the FIVE in the series [sH5 was a let down]). 3 hours later, I had installed both programs and added my 2 GB worth of "mods" from the community (Trigger Maru, Run Silent Run Deep, Etc.). I have to say, this has been a nice departure from the usual flight simming lately, and has really hooked me while I'm on summer break from class. Before long, I'll have Silent H…

Hi! Although I like to fly varied aircraft in flightsim I have been thinking more recently of trying some Ultralight flying in Fs9 and FsX. What I like doing in flightsim is simulating real flights which pilots make. However I have been finding it quite difficult to find much info about it on the internet as they don't seem to write too many trip reports! The first question I wanted to ask is does anyone know how trike pilots navigate. Do they have a VFR map clipped in somewhere? They seem to wear big baggy suits which I don't think have kneepads for maps. And what happens if they need to turn the page! The second question I had was does anyone know of an…

Recently downloaded and installed three scenery modules from Megascenery. The modules are of the Tampa Bay/Sarasota area. The scenery is terrible, flat, lacking in any detail and shows what looks to be snow at the Sarasota/Bradenton airport. More than that, after repeated requests for tech support and/or return of money, Megascenery has ignored my inquiries. They are unwilling to help me get their software to function and are unwilling to refund my money. I wonder if anyone else has had problems with Megascenery. Computer specs: i5 2500K processor, Windows 7 64 bit, 8gb RAM, 2gb video card.

Hello all! I'm wanting to have a go in one of these full-size cockpit flight simulators of airliners that you see. I'm having a little trouble in my research, though. The trouble is that, if you want a full-motion one, they seem to be eye-wateringly expensive (in the region of £660 per hour, according to Virtual Aviation in Heathrow and Gatwick and so forth). However, I wonder if a fixed-base one (the likes of which iPilot in Westfield Shopping Centre runs for £160 per hour) will be very realistic, or will it not seem altogether different from flying my desk, cockpit instrumentation aside? So, my question is this - have any of you flown full-size flight sims…

I know this topic is neither here nor there, but I'm kinda new to the whole flight sim scene so please forgive me.Which payware aircraft would say are the best in terms of graphics, realism and overall package?I have bought a couple of Carenado planes but it is kind of expensive to experiment too much :-)I considering buying the Aerosoft Otter package but it seems to be quite old, a couple of years at least and does that even matter? What do you guys think?

Hello, first of all, i didnt know where else to put this topic so i just write here (please move if in wrong category, i have post notification on so i see where it has been moved to). now my feedback: the old design was of course a little bit 1995, but the new one has some things i dont like as well. Those things are: Left/Right bar - its too much and too big. I use 1920x1080 resolution but still, i dont like the size of those boxes. The right one could be entirely removed and the section "Categories" on the right could be moved to the menu as subitem. The donation section could either be moved on the left or be made as a new menu item. Latest news…

Hi, I live underneath the ILS approach path for Rwy's 18L, C, and R of EHAM with C coming right over my house. I bet that the DME of the aircraft reads something like 11 Nm when they pas over my house. I noticed it many times before and today i thought enough is enough. I need to know ! What could be the reason that sometimes the approaching aircraft are flying much lower than usually when passing over my house ??...... I'd say the difference could easily be 500 feet possibly more.... It's not like the G/S beam can be adjusted by ATC just like that, can it ?? Why would EHAM ATC sometimes command all aircraft to approach these runways at a much lower alti…

Ruin porn is a reference used by urban planners, particularly in Detroit, that describes a fascination with abandoned buildings. http://www.theatlant...-ruin-porn/886/ Anyway, I came across a couple sites with lots of pics from abandoned airfields and I thought some may be interested. http://weburbanist.c...raft-airplanes/ http://www.urbanghos...port-terminals/

I remember reading some time back that a Flight Sim Expo was cancelled (UK) with a view to running something similar at a future date. Does anybody know of such expo's or commercial "get-togethers"?. It really would be great to get this hobby under one roof and meet lots of people with a passion for this past-time
