http://au.news.yahoo...re-price-falls/ Qantas crisis talks as share price falls Geoffrey Thomas, Aviation Editor, The West AustralianUpdated June 9, 2012, 5:03 pm Qantas is in secret crisis talks with arch rival Emirates and other airlines about the possibility of a comprehensive alliance or an equity tie-up after its share price plunged below the psychological barrier of $1 to close at 97¢ last night. The talks come after a horror week for the Flying Kangaroo, which announced on Tuesday it was likely to post its first loss since privatisation in 1995, with its international division haemorrhaging $450 million. Qantas’ retail and institutional s…

Being a former RADAR Guy, this seems no different to me then a RADAR facility that is not co-located with the facility area itself. But, I am sure some tower purists will not like this new idea. http://www.theverge.com/2012/6/10/3075097/saab-remote-air-traffic-control-tower-norway-trial

For some reason I'm scared sh*t getting into a prop-plane. I have no issues with airliners, but getting into a smaller plane -- my body and mind still says no. I use to have a fear of flying, and I think I attribute that to being not in control of the situation -- FSX/flight sim has eased that fear a little bit -- at least I know whats going on at certain stages of flight.

So I was at a home improvement store loading some stuff into my car, when a middle aged woman next to me starts to load several 25-40 pound bags of potting soil into the back of her car. I notice her struggle with the first bag, so like a gentleman I offer my assistance to load them for her. I might as well have asked if she wanted pull her top off and be groped because she stood back and sarcasticly huffs that she doesn't need a mans help! I didn't say what I was about to say... but jeez, sometimes I wonder if holding doors for women and helping them with heavy stuff is not politically correct any longer?? A few days ago I held a door open for a lady pushing her b…

I was just surfing A.net for any interesting news and goings on. Came across a comment while in the "Concorde for the Diamond Jubilee" thread that said the 'Intrepid Air Museum cant even keep their Concorde in good condition'. Here's a photo link that was issued on that post....http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l233/mateu21/June302008Concorde027.jpg In my thoughts this is a pure disgrace to see the condition now, of one of "THE" most beautiful aircraft to have ever been produced and this is G-BOAD's fate? The nose section was hit by a truck and broke off, and the aircraft has had kids climb all over it... I could only imagine what kids would do to it!!! What…

Just throwing out one of those "curiosity" questions!!! So I have a spare €100 this week and wondering what I will treat myself to. I was considering some more UK scenery from Playhorizon but I hate the way it renders many of the GPS functions useless (terrain etc), that's a real deal breaker for me. .......or maybe some OrbX Pacific North , at least that doesn't mess with GPS. If YOU had a spare €100 ( £80, $125) what would be your next FSX add-on ? .......I understand we are all at a different place within FSX but I'm just curious.

An excerpt from CNN today: QUOTE: Vacuum causes $400M damage to nuclear submarine A fire last month aboard a U.S. nuclear submarine that caused more than $400 million in damage may have been caused by a vacuum cleaner, the Navy said Wednesday. "Preliminary findings indicate the fire started in a vacuum cleaner used to clean work sites at end of shift, and stored in an unoccupied space," the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Congressional and Public Affairs Office said in a news release. "Specific details as to the cause and subsequent damage assessment are still being evaluated as part of ongoing investigations and will be released at a later date." Public Affai…

I was just curious about something. In this thread http://forum.avsim.net/topic/369478-moon-on-a-stick/page__pid__2333211#entry2333211 third reply down, there is a member using the name vanBobo, formerly known as Gear up and off I believe, who has his user name in grey and the profile is not clickable, so you cant find his content or send him a pm if you wanted. I was just wondering, not that I would want to do it, but how can you make your profile so that it is completely private and people cant even open it. I looked in the profile settings for my own account and cant even see a way to do it if I wanted, not that I do, but was just curious how vonBobo has created a …

Hi everyone, Got two questions regarding PAPI lights: 1.) Does every airline pilot make a "perfect" approach in regards to having two PAPI lights white, and the other two red throughout the landing phase of the flight? 2.) Do pilots just ignore the PAPI lights at a certain point during landing? I found this flight sim youtube video (link below) which explains that at some point during their landing (when they're really closing to touching down) pilots just focus on getting the aircraft centered. Is this true in real life? Please skip to 5:38 in the video for the explanation Thanks!

Hi, I recently started up my Windows XP 32 bit laptop again for the purpose of reading the FSX aircraft manuals while flying. My laptop isn't connected to the internet, so I downloaded Adobe Reader from the internet on my desktop PC and transferred it over to my laptop via USB. I attempted installing several times (probably around 10) and I keep on getting an error that reads "Installation encountered errors. Actionlist not found" Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Peter Hager is a guy making addon aircraft for X-Plane. Working on an A380 he was wondering how good his simulation can be. And of course, like most of us, he was haunted with the question: can a non-real-world pilot land a 40 million euro full sim of a heavy jet? Peter's exact question was: Would a desk top pilot, like me, without having even a PPL, be able to fly the real 560 tons monster? I found this great article browsing the web, and would like to share it with you. Have a great reading and maybe tell us what your thoughts are. http://petersuv.vs12...im_session.html
