Hangar Chat

This forum is for the discussion of things you might discuss when going into an airport hangar.  Please make sure that your topic isn't covered in another forum before posting here.  Please refrain from controversial topics...politics, religion, conspiracy theories, climate change, COVID etc.  Topics that elicit or are deemed by staff likely to elicit heated argument, contention, or otherwise objectionable banter will be removed from view.  We allow some latitude, but please remember that, first and foremost, this is a flight-simulator oriented site frequented by people from all walks of life.

Some CGI reproductions of scenes from the Trek movies. The thing to remember is that this guy does this at home with a low powered Amd Dual core system. A labor of love with hundreds of hours of render time.Lotta talented Trekkers out there doing amazing CGI stuff!Enjoy, and if your connection can handle it, try watching at 1080p And one morehttp://youtu.be/-F235ndbWRQ

  5. Occasionally we like to post stats to show the AVSIM community how active and sizable it is. So, here are stats that are taken from 1 April through yesterday, 2 May. Number of people registered in the last month: The number to TOPICS created: The number of POSTS made in those topics: The top 10 forums in April: In the month of April, throughout all forums, there were over 1.3 million "reads" made. The top 10 forums represents a pretty good chunk of that number. It is nice to know that you are in good company and not alone!

  6. Well after 2500 plus posts, almost 8 years, financial donations to the Avsim cause over the years and after the hack I truly never thought I would see the day when I "logged out" of Avsim and did not want to come back but unfortunately that day has come so I want to say THANK YOU to Tom and the team for all of the years spent here. I want to say THANK YOU to the friends I have made and the support I have received over the years through some very tough personal times. After 8 years in July, 2500+ posts I was actually warned of suspension tonight for questioning why it is ok for a particular user to start every post with a :Loser: because they are a fan of Flight wh…

I signed into the DigitalThemePark server for TeamSpeak and must say this isn't very "new-user" friendly. I couldn't raise attention from multiple staff members to get me validated so I could access AVSIM's portion. :( At this point I feel a new user with curiosity or just casual interest would probably stop trying to gain entry. I'm more resilient though and wanted to check this out. Perhaps we can somehow make the process smoother for new people?

I guess I'll start another thread because the other one was locked for some reason. I can't find if you can transfer files directly from gmail to the g drive. It would be nice to do this so you don't have to download a file to your phone then upload it to G drive?

Ok, first of all, I couldnt figure out where to post this. I went over to the devs. site, but their forum seems to be a Spanish language only one. Anyway, I just bought the Virtualcol Jetstream. I was running through the before start checklist, and at one point the power going to the aircraft should be at 25 volts or more. Mine is only at about 5 volts. Can one of the owners of this aircraft (I know there are some on here) help me? Thanks. hamoody

  16. We have received an email from someone who claims to have recently purchased the FSPlanet.com domain name. We cannot vouch for that, but we did want to pass this along just in case there is some truth to it. He claims that previous FSPlanet first class members are still paying for their membership and that those payments (via PayPal) are going to the previous owner. FSPlanet does not now charge for "First Class" membership so the point is that folks are spending their money needlessly. Again, we cannot substantiate any of that, but if you have been a FSPlanet user and spending money there, you might want to ask some questions to insure you are not wasting your hard ea…

  18. It must be job or career related, in aviation... what would you chose and why? Would you chose to captain a 747 from London to Hong Kong for some mega airline? Would you chose to have a job flying a fancy corporate jet for some fortune 500 company? Perhaps flying for the military? An astronaut maybe? For me it would be flying the DC-6 in the land of "Big Props", hauling cargo and whatnot the old fashion way all over the Alaskan northwest! THAT would be the greatest flying job in the world to me.

THE US space shuttle Enterprise bowed out yesterday on America's biggest stage - a flyover of the Statue of Liberty and Manhattan's skyscrapers. It was headed for a museum in New York at the end of an era in American space travel. Crowds along the Hudson cheered as the shuttle, piggybacking on a modified Boeing 747, passed three times over New York harbour. "I think it's one of the coolest things I've ever seen. I'm almost speechless," said Leuinda Field, 37, a teacher who brought her three-year-old son to see the historic moment. 22. Started by Wendall,

I was flying one of Janet's routes in FSX, and I was just wondering that question... Do they get them directly from the Air Force? Or do they actually recruit pilots off of the market and train them to become 737 type rated? ...But of course...what is the Janet that I'm speaking of?

  23. Started by MrBenevolent,

I haven't been reading enough books of late - something which I would like to rectify! Given my relatively recent rekindled interest in aviation - the catalyst being my introduction to FSX last year - I feel this is an area in which I should be seeking new literature. So, what are your favourite aviation-related reads that you would recommend? Not just simming, but anything related to flight and aircraft - preferably non-fiction! Cheers all
