Hangar Chat

This forum is for the discussion of things you might discuss when going into an airport hangar.  Please make sure that your topic isn't covered in another forum before posting here.  Please refrain from controversial topics...politics, religion, conspiracy theories, climate change, COVID etc.  Topics that elicit or are deemed by staff likely to elicit heated argument, contention, or otherwise objectionable banter will be removed from view.  We allow some latitude, but please remember that, first and foremost, this is a flight-simulator oriented site frequented by people from all walks of life.

There was this guy with his new flightsim and his business model that nobody understood, it had its own forum but now its gone. Does that mean, it was a short living project or did they move it to somewhere else?

  3. my thought of the day... So I really have to wonder and question the behavior on not only this forum at times but also the same behavior on other forums I frequent and how the Internet has negatively affected our interaction as humans... Just my observation and a lot of this goes for myself also and I will make a conscious effort to change the negative aspects of my own behaviour. Please feel free to add the things that bother you about the way the internet has changed our interaction with others... Do you remember when you didn't say something negative for the sake of it? Do you remember when you gave the person you were speaking to the same level or respect y…

Arrives in Gatwick on Wednesday - here's hoping for a 26L day otherwise I may not see it. At the moment, looking at a 1050 arrival so with the help of FR24 (hopefully it'll be on there) I'll get to see it. Anyone else in the UK going to see it?

  9. This accident happened in Brazil this week, it's a Beech King Air C-90 from what I know, the aircraft had an engine problem as was flying back to the airport single engine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otxYSExbg3Q It all happens too fast, the aircraft is under control, almost making it back to the runway, then the nose is slightly pitched up, and bang, the aircraft break into a roll out of control. I could get the best FS addon, stay all day long at Stall speed, and a lost of control like that would never happen. Maybe X-Plane can bite you like that? But it sure makes me be very careful not to think of FS as a Flight simulator, it can be a navigation simula…

Hey Avsim community, I know there is a ton of real world pilots on these forums but are there any Canadian operators around YYZ? Only reason why I ask for Porter is because I love the Q400 so much, but if there is any Jazz, Air Canada, Porter, WestJet, etc. Pilots who could answer an 18 year old's questions, you'd certainly help my dream of becoming an airline pilot come true! Just curious to see whose out there. Thanks for your time! Cameron Caldwell

  11. I thought this was interesting. A new training course for the spouses of Pilots that teach them how to land an airplane in the event of a medical emergency: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/story/2012/04/25/mb-learn-to-land-lyncrest.html The program is being offered at a small airport outside Winnipeg, Manitoba. Following the recent incident in Wisconsin this might just catch on. Cheers

For those that have been waiting impatiently for the DropBox alternative, it's alive as of today, with a windows and 'Droid client already available. I had previously paid for 80GB for $20/year with google docs, and yes that entire storage came over. :) That means I can finally put all my picasa photos, online cloud storage, and everything else into ONE place. :) Link for anyone that wants to check it out...and for new users, you get 5GB free...which is 2.5 times what dropbox gives. :) http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2012/04/introducing-google-drive-yes-really.html#!/2012/04/introducing-google-drive-yes-really.html

Too many books and enormous sites, documentary films, you name it..but if it is meant to be secret, why it becomes a part of pop culture? The concept is outstanding, I am not saying I agree, which my opinion doesn't mean a thing, but Novo Ordo Seclorum is not entirely a good idea, I have my own perspective in this matter, just want to know what other people think about this. I have dug deeper back when I was in college but I have stopped reading provocative books (and I kept my promise that Nietzsche was the last one) but I saw this aircraft with "One World" logo this morning and, well..

If this is against the forum rules, moderators please remove. I have no connections whatsoever with Breitling, but here is one helluva nice commercial with P-51D on a main role. At least my search didn't find anything related, so here it goes. If this is old news, so be it. Still, this is a commercial that truly rocks :dirol:

  16. Shuttle Enterprise is being moved from Washington DC to New York where it will be on permeant display at the Intrepid Air and Space Museum starting in July. Originally planed for Monday but postponed due to poor weather across the North East, tomorrow morning Enterprise will fly over the Statue of Liberty and Intrepid (on the Hudson River) on top of the 747 SCA and land at JFK. My office is at 18th St and the West Side Highway (Hudson River) in Manhattan. The building I work in is absolutely lovely, and more importantly, has floor to celling windows on all floors! I hope to get some nice shots form the top floor as Enterprise takes to the sky one last time. If I get …

Hi guys, I'd like to bring to your attention an exciting virtual airline that I have just taken ownership of. Virgin Australia Virtual is a new VA which bases it's operations on the real airline as well as it's affiliates, V-Australia and Pacific Blue. We operate many different types of aircraft from the 737NG to the A330, to the 777. Our fleet gives us good payware addon aircraft options to simulate operations as effectively as we can. We also have at our disposal the wonderful world of FTX's full terrain scenery as well as their stunning addon airports, if you use FSX. That coupled with the PMDG NGX, gives a flying experience as good as it can possibly get! …

This video link is fresh (for the public). It was made just six weeks ago in the Atlantic, just off Newport News (Hampton Roads), Virginia. These are the latest sea trials of the F-35B on the USS Wasp. They were very successful, with 74 VL's (Vertical Launch) and STO's (short take offs) in a three week period. The media and the program critics had predicted that we would burn holes in the deck and wash sailors overboard. Neither of which happened. You will notice a sailor standing on the bow of the ship as the jet rotates. That was an intentional part of the sea trials. No catapult... No hook.... It's a new world out there! The shape and scope of w…
