  1. http://edition.cnn.com/2014/10/31/travel/future-of-travel-cockpit-technology/index.html Now we just have to wait for the first PMDG Boeing with voice controlled cockpit... and Aerosoft Airbus voice controlled, and... What if the PF's voice sounds hoarse???

  2. As I promised, I'll share my promo video for FlyNG Flying Academy Professional Boeing 737-800 Flight Simulator. Most of the shots were taken during a pilot training flight LYBE -> LYPG. FSX is used as platform (visuals, sounds and external model). Everything else is completely simulated outside FSX. Every single failure and malfunction is simulated (over 1000 failures). The simulator is certificated for professional pilot training. It is located in Belgrade, Serbia, and far as I know it is only one in the Balkan region. http://youtu.be/l9KHO8sywws Enjoy and thanks for watching! Cheers

Hi! I wanted to learn the different modes we can read on the FMA for HDG and ALT with the colours.....etc. I read F-COM Autoflight and wanted to confirm what I had understood and ask some questions! ALT. On the FMA, when you can read ALT, are you flying the plane manually? Because you have 4 modes for altitude: - CLB (managed) - OP CLB (Selective) - V/S (vertical speed) -ALT! Thanks!

Hi!!! Just saw a pilotseye video, in an A340, the pilots were landing in a CAT III Dual in Shanghai. But the pilot said that they had to do a manual landing in Shanghai RWY 17 How is that possible? CAT 3 = Autoland so the Glideslope is available till the end! Thanks a lot!

Quite simple, which particular sounds do you like/prefer more? GPWS Callouts - Airbus (sounds more "serious") AP disconnect - Boeing (sounds like an deep space space station red alert ), but Airbus style bleep bleep bleep isn't bad either. Various warning sounds - undecided since I'm not hearing them much Cockpit environment - can't decide, since both A320 and 737 have good audio representation in FSX (Aerosoft/PMDG) for example, but I'll go with a Boeing, environment sounds richer, less robotic, has a soul. Trim wheel, ground spoilers, etc - certainly Boeing! Engine sounds - depends on a model of course, that's why it's a dead heat. I like A320…

Can someone explain why in the northern hemisphere winds blow in opposite direction around low and high pressure. I have quoted it below. Currently reading the PPL on the meteorology! This deflection is a major factor in explaining why winds blow anticlockwise around low pressure and clockwise around high pressure in the northern hemisphere and visa versa in the southern hemisphere. Without the Coriolis effect air would simply flow directly from areas of high pressure to areas of low pressure.

We don't get monster hoovers down here very often. http://www.news24.com/Live/SouthAfrica/News/WATCH-Incredible-KZN-tornado-footage-20141124 However I think I can say its only in South Africa that crowds of people will stand that close to a twister to film it instead of fleeing for their lives....

Hi all, Finally in the market for a personal headset to be used for completing the rest of my PPL time. But, to be honest, I really don't know where to start. I know I don't need anything super fancy, and it needs to be pretty cheap. It needs to be comfortable of course, but the real priority is cost. Any recommendations? Thanks!

And I do mean the Dash 8! Horror on board flight to Birmingham as bird strike destroys plane propeller but pilot continues to fly for an hour to destination on just ONE ENGINE Passengers were left terrified after a plane lost one of its propellers in a bird strike but continued with the rest of the hour-long flight on just one engine. The Flybe service had just taken off from Guernsey for Birmingham when startled travellers heard a loud bang on the left side of the aircraft. They looked out and saw the front cone of the prop had been smashed and the remains of a bird could be seen on the jagged edge. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/travel_news/article-2829801/B…

Pulling my hair out trying to figure out the RNAV paradigm and its organisation. Grrr! Can anyone outline for me, ALL the different types of RNAV approaches, prefereably with a reference to the info. The best I could come up with was <see web adress below>. Is this complete and correct? Are there any other 'RNAV Specifications'? I thought RNP was an RNAV sub-specification!? http://filgapp.ineco.es/filgapp/showImg/ac662ecf-dd4f-4c45-bafe-ccfa2fc92ef4

Amazon US is selling new copies of FSX at $159.95 and upwards. Amazon UK states FSX is "Currently unavailable. We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock." Is this because Microsoft is no longer selling FSX in anticiption of DoveTail's taking of over?

  13. Hi all So I got GTA 5 for my xbox one a few days ago (hadn't played it on the xbox 360 of PS3 as I didn't own those consoles) and one of the first things I did was check out the airplanes (because the preview screenshots looked really great). I don't know what game developers use to take screenshots but my games never look as good as those preview screenshots. Well, all I can say is FSX doesn't have anything to worry about. Or FS2004. Or FS2002. One of the features of GTA 5 is the new first person view which means you can fly planes/drive vehicles in the first person VC mode. The good news is the airspeed, altitude, attitude indicator, VSI all seem to actually…

Hi everyone! Let's say that this is my current situation, on the photo bellow, but A/P and A/THR are ON. My current IAS is 280 knots. When we push the knobs on the FCU, it goes to manage mode. But I had a question for the knob for speed and HDG.... 1) Ok, we are in managed mode, FCU is showing --- for speed. We now turn the knob, but we don't pull. Will it revert to selective mode or will it keep managing our last speed? (When we will turn the knob, it will show our current IAS, 280kts) 2) Same question with HDG!

  18. DSR shows up, and transforms my entire hobby. FTX Palm Springs shows up, and has me captive with not only the real-world level of detail of Palm Springs and area itself, but hundreds of square miles to explore in any direction you want, with faithful levels of detail, that puts YOU THERE! I believe this package brings out the very best that P3D.x can offer you. Any accolade, is a weak understatement, and I can't even imagine the story-board that went into this concept-of-idea. I can't begin to imagine... What a year, 2014 has been....

  19. Anyone here aware of this? Sounds like a more extensive change than I have heard of in the past. This from the opening page at the real world flight planning sight that I use. NOTICE: 11/13/14 New Routing, Airways, Intersections, and VORs. The FAA and Nav Canada have created many new T Routes and Q Routes in the Northeast. There are also changes in the SFO and DEN area. Many Jet & Victor airways no longer exist, and some VORs have been de-commisioned or renamed. Please make sure your aircrafts FMS database is up-to-date with the latest revision. Some may be referenced on this page, but I see nothing about route changes. http://www.faa.gov/air_traffic/flight…

I wrote this as an AVSIM review, but quickly found out that the AVSIM review section doesn't include things like magazines ... There are many approaches to flight simming and my favourite approach is general aviation (GA). Although I've only been involved in this hobby for a year I have taken the general aviation side of it very seriously and taken a real effort to get immersed in the general aviation field. Having a flying lesson in a Cessna 150 and a hands-on flight in a relative's Piper Archer really cemented this interest. Looking around for literature and a way to find out what was going on in GA 'now', I came across Pilot magazine, published monthly in the…

Apols if this is in the wrong place... This is an interesting little utility that I've come across, and its free! Havent seen it talked about anywhere? http://fsxtimes.wordpress.com/2014/11/18/266-run-through-checklist-interactively/ Its not functional in terms of controlling switches etc in the VC so its not the equivalent of FS2CREW, but if you like this sort of thing, it could help you keep your head out of the paper checklists and in the cockpit It is completely customisable for any a/c by creating your own xml script in a text editor, and if you have any voicepacks (IVONA etc) then you wont have to record any wav file checklist prompts Sweet!
