I'm in Lodz for a two weeks, just curious how many simmers are in this city.

I think I've got my priorities sorted now. After buying lots of scenery, lots of aircraft and trying to max out everything I learned quickly that I had to make choices to get FSX to run smoothly. I realise though, that everyone's priorities are different. What are yours? I'm taking it as read that everyone wants decent aircraft that fly like their supposed to, as well as scenery that is fairly accurate. Other than that, my priorities are: 1 - IMMERSIVE PLANE It has to look right, feel right and sound right. I'm not bothered about fantastic internal/external graphics since I use a cockpit build and rarely look at the plane from the outside. 2 - WEAT…

It IS the Daily Mail so I don't really trust these things, but hey, it's another one to criticize and prod at. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2784298/Finally-The-flying-car-really-coming-road-sky-near-you.html?ito=social-facebook "The AeroMobil can fly 430 miles on a tank of petrol - and when its wings fold down, it'll fit into a normal parking space." What a sales pitch huh? IMO, until we can integrate VTOL into such a small platform as a reasonably-sized car, these hybrids will really only be good as a status symbol. I mean, where are you gonna get the runway to take off? I know I don't usually have 1000-1500 extra feet of free space whene…

  7. I don't know about anybody else...but I have never used STEAM, didn't know much about it...and only delved into it, because of the fab initial price for FSX-SE ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well....I have never been a video game player....(if you don't consider FSX/P3D, blah, blah) as a 'video game'... B) So, here I am today....having already bought three games on sale through STEAM. Only one of them has anything to do with Flight Simulation. What a laugh.....so now I am a video head..... Welcome to STEAM Culture......

Here it is Christmas. I thought I would open this thread for those that are on here on Avsim for Christmas Eve, just to B&&shi**T about the holidays and what it all means. Call it an open thread if you will. Some people are enjoying the holidays with friends and families, some people are not, and I just thought I would open a thread for those that aren't

Hi, I'm trying to find more information about aircraft maintenance, and until now i couldn´t find reliable information regarding Maintenance, Repair and Operations working schedules. As far as I know, Line Maintenance must be 24/7/365; Regarding Base Maintenance, what is the comum pratice? 24hours per day, or just day time, and if so, every day of the week or weekends off? thanks

Hello all, I have always found it fascinating to learn about aviation accidents. I don't want the ghoulish details, but the actual cause of a crash and what led up to it is interesting. We all hate when they happen, but they do happen and if we can learn from what happened to others, then... Anyway, I was always a fan of the crash analysis that Jonathan Stern did for Computer Pilot magazine. I found my copy of CP from March, 2008 today and re-read about the crash of N400WX, a Columbia 400. This aircraft crashed while trying to land in lousy weather at KRMN, Stafford Regional. I decided to try to make the landing myself in similar weather conditions on FSX tonight.…

  14. So, what does everyone think about the FSX haze layer? I think it comes close being great, but its z-buffer dance on mountain sides really kills immersion, so I voted the second choice. One huge improvement for the haze layer is that ASN disables it until you are above it; this feature is the only reason why I use it. Before ASN I could not stand seeing it from below, for a do spend a bit of time in that region being a 100% GA flier. How about you?

  15. My bro and I are planning a trip to Italy, specifically Rome, (also maybe Naples) and I was wondering how easy is it to get in and out of there with flights? We had a great deal of trouble trying to get into Dublin, both in flying back in the spring, and by boat in Oct, so I was wondering whats the likelihood of actually getting there without a dreaded delay of some sort, if there is one, will flights there be easy to find to replace on the same day? I had an idea I'm going to discuss with my bro, about maybe flying someplace different like Paris, and taking the train to Rome, but travel times are essential, as we will probably not have much more than 2 weeks in Europe, …

Someone mentioned this commercial flight Sim in another Thread. I think it was the FSX Steam 90% off thread but then I couldn't find the post again but wanted to comment on it. Its a shame that this company like LM doesn't make this available to the enthusiast Market. It looks fantastic! Diamond Visionics: http://www.diamondvisionics.com/

Hi, I have some questions about FCU knobs for Airbus. Here is my first question: (By the way, got the difference between TRK/CRS/DTK/HDG!) 1) When you are in selective mode and you push HDG knob, the plane will first calculate where you are, then where our F-PLN is then it wil arm NAV in blue. After, it will display INTCPT on the F-PLN to show us where we are going to intercept the F-PLN. But we should be at 1NM from the F-PLN to go to managed mode (or else, it won't arm NAV). You should also be able to have your F-PLN on the ND. 1) What happens If I push my HDG knob if my F-PLN is closer than 1NM? It won't arm NAV, isn't it? Something else? 2) What…

Evening, I just purchased the HTAI download for single engine Cessnas. It's payware and is used for AI. I ran the installer and received an messaging saying there was invalid data. Has anyone else run into this problem? Is HTAI still in business? Thanks for any help. Cheers, Colin

  22. I was pretty active producer few years ago, mostly producing for my soul, playing with styles and melodies, etc. In the past three years I released two tracks for Pulsar Recordings, and both were huge success, especially Caldera. Lately I'm moslty flying instead of producing in my free time, various reasons for that. I wanted to share my passion for Trance music with you guys, and the tracks I produced and released. And yes, my artist name is Raytheon. Don't laugh, I chose that name few years ago when I didn't know about Raytheon company at all. Somehow that name appeared in my head and I decided to use it. Later on I discovered about the company, but it was late, lol…

  25. Two FS forums that I visit have suffered multiple spam attacks in the last 24 hours and are still ongoing. Electronic Flight Bag and Topcat. Many of the posts are in Russian Cyrillic. I've posted a PM to the administrator at EFB but have yet to hear from him. I'm not aware of any others. It's possible I suppose they won't stop there. Hopefully AvSim's security will defeat them. Whatever you do don't click on any links should you view those posts. Bad things will probably happen.
