Just an FYI for anyone interested in WW2 flight sims. It has the best flight model I have ever seen in a sim. If you were a fan of the orignal IL-2 series do yourself a favor and check out this sim simply put its the best! http://il2sturmovik.com/ Horrido!

  2. So I've been watching videos ,and it seems like a lot of simulator pilots turn the auto pilot on at 200 feet and off at 200 feet. What's the fun in that? To me hand flying an ILS with 200 ceilings and a 20 knot crosswind in the 777 is fun and its a challenge. What's the fun in watching the auto pilot do it? Not knocking anyone's flying style I'm just curious. I usually leave to autopilot off until I reach cruise and then turn it off a TOD.

I ordered (and paid for) a VRInsight Panel a few days ago from PC Aviator. I have had no confirmation email from them that the order was received. I have sent them 2 emails asking if they had received the order but I have yet to receive a reply. I am getting to the stage where I think that I might have done my money. As I paid by PayPal I am considering disputing a transaction. Has anyone else had trouble with this mob or am I just being a bit paranoid?ThanksJohn

  4. Fascinating article from the September issue of AOPA Pilot. The online article appears at the link below and includes a video of a preserved QU-22B that includes interviews with some pilots who served on the mission. http://www.aopa.org/News-and-Video/All-News/2014/September/Pilot/f_bonanza

I flew on EVA air 777 often and there is an sound that always puzzles me. Video reference can be found here ( ). At 2:50, you can hear the high pitch sounds twice. I remember I heard the same sound on other 777W for other airlines on YouTube but cannot find them now. Any idea of what it may be?

  6. Hey folks... As my 5 year old system came with USB 2.0, and only could run at its fastest input/output speed of 480 Mb's per second, 10 times slower (published theoretical top speed) than USAP (USB 'scuzzy') or USB SuperSpeed USB 3.0 protocol (the latest and fastest version of the USB 3.0 to date), I decided to fill a PCI Express slot with the following desktop add-in card: StarTech 4 Port Quad Bus PCI Express USB 3.0 Card with UASP (SuperSpeed)-LP4 + SATA Power --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Also purchased was a Western Digital MyBook 1230 4TB External Hard Drive that fully support…

  7. Is it possible or "normal" for the barometric pressure (thus altimeter) to change (300 to 500 ft) when crossing through a series of mountain ranges? I was flying across some mountains between OPPG and OP12 in the CS C-130 and experienced that today with "real" weather. Or could there be a "bug" in the altimeter? After leaving the series of mountains (which did change in elevation) the problem seemed to go away as I was heading to OABT. Any info appreciated, thanks in advance.

  8. Hello to all, I hope this is the right place to post this kind of announcement. If not, I apologize and have a moderator move it to the appropriate section. Fsdreamteam is looking into expanding their team of scenery developers, textures artists and developers. Here is a graphic from American Airlines showing details on their 9 hubs: Photo credit: http://blog.wandr.me/2014/10/american-airlines-hub-analysis-rollcall-phoenix/ I have to say, PHX has the least written and they definitely spared the strong diction that occurs in the other hub descriptions. It's a shame to see my home airport being treated this way, but it's really not ideally situated, so it's demise will ultimately not surprise me.

I'm just doing a bit of future planning, and in doing so I am choosing which airline to try to work with. The two I've narrowed it down to are Air Wisconsin and SkyWest. I've met a ton of SkyWest pilots who all love their airline, but I've never met an Air Wisconsin pilot. I just want to give AW a fair shot, since right now it's a pretty lopsided battle. Anybody who knows an AW pilot, please ask them to reply to this topic so that I can talk to them through PM. Anybody who is an Air Wisconsin pilot, I'd love to talk with you.

Hello, Is it me or are some sites "off the air"? I cannot get to Simmarket or the activation site for the Xplane 777. They have not been off for 2 or 3 days. Thanks in advance, Ron Sagel

  18. So I have a question. I have had a really bad experience with a flight simulator developer called FSGenesis (www.FSGenesis.com). FSGenesis is a maker of terrain mesh. In 2009 the company offered a lifetime membership where, for a fee, a customer could have rights to download all current and future terrain mesh products from FSGenesis. We were almost begged to buy the membership because the owner stated he needed the cash infusion and that we would be helping him out so a lot of us pitched in to help. Then they introduced something called NEXTMap products a few years later that involved another vendor's license terms so we were told we would have to pay for the NEXTMap…

  19. My vote would be: Alaska Airlines Hands down for a heavy pilot this has to be one of the coolest companies to work for in terms of the type of flying you would do. Flying from Seattle to the Fjords area where you do hopes all the way to Juneau (Ketchican, Wrangell, Petersburg, Sitka, etc.) is the next best thing to bush flying airliner style. From there you could have routes all the way up to the Arctic Circle in Prudhoe Bay in a trusty old 737 Classic. Alternate routes for the airline could put you in Mexico from Seattle or Hawaii. Flying back into Seattle is always a treat with all the mountains around. A morning flight over the Pacific Northwest mountains…

Hi, Just wondering, has anyone heard of a hardware producer titled "Sismo Soluciones" (http://www.sismo-soluciones.com/) before? I just found them while browsing, and I was particularly surprised at their relatively low-cost panels, for example this forward overhead segment for a 737NG: http://www.sismo-soluciones.com/index.php/shop/fwd-overhead/fwdo-modules/d7-345-350-351-353-354-355-356-357-362-detail I'd just like to know if anyone's used these products before and if so the quality of the product. Thanks!

I don’t believe this.... After learning through costly mistakes a few years ago, I finally bit the bullet and purchased decent backup software (Acronis). I have a hard drive that I keep all my backups on. These backups include standard Windows and FSX installations, all at various stages, so I don’t need to reinstall when things go pear shaped. Either that hard drive or Windows, has just had a 'hissy fit' and although I can 'see' the drive, it's lost it's drive letter, so nothing can 'read' it:( Tried a sys restore and various 'freebie' partition/disk restorers, but so far, with no luck. The disc has two partitions, the 1st of which is fine. This *suggests* t…

  24. I was just reading a thread on when to Overclock, and it got me thinking who has more stability issues with our sims, those who Overclock, those who don't, or does it matter? I don't OC because I can't I have a Dell system which doesn't allow me to. In return though my FSX installation has been stable since installation in 2007 (It's a E6850 3Ghz C2D system). Other than OOM's from using addons that eat VAS, which is a totally differnt issue not related to this question, my system has been rock solid. So I'm curious what others experiences are and if there may be any correlation where OCing may have played a role. So other then OOMing, consider stability, in terms of unex…

Today's crash of ultralight aircraft at sport airfield, carried away two life. It started as normal missed approach but things became messy few seconds later. Posting it not because it's funny or condemning, but as a lesson: Be careful when you fly!
