We haven't shown any stats from the demographic survey since June, so I thought I would take a couple of the demographic questions and post the interim results from today. Nearly 2,000 members have taken this survey as of today. If you haven't take the survey, please do so!

"I read this article and thought about my flight from KLAS to KIAD and payed for the extra legroom, but I later found out that if you get one of the extra legroom seats near the Exit the seats don't fully recline so you're stuck in an akward mini recline with extra legroom....$$$Scam$$$." (CNN) -- Do airline passengers have the right to recline? That simmering debate among fliers escalated Sunday aboard a United Airlines flight that was diverted after two passengers argued over the use of a device that blocks reclining. A Knee Defender, a gadget that "helps you stop reclining seats on airplanes so your knees won't have to," was at the root of the disturba…

Flying always with 747 FSX with or without FSPX. Whatever I try, belly landing (no gears) seems to be impossible. Every time I try it, full flaps just above stall speed, slowly descent, tail first, then engines and then: sinking into the ground, and crash, same on concrete, grass or water. Vertical speed always still above the tricky 200 ft/min and crash again :( When you have some time left I'm happy to learn. Maybe some MP session within fsx sharing aircraft? tia

Hey fellas, I'm sure this will have a limited response, but I'm hoping someone can direct me to an Avsim equivalent forum that is specific to UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) I have trawled a few on the Net, but I don't want to waste my time posting on some smaller forums but would rather hang around an 'Avsim equivalent' forum... hope that makes sense. My profession is TV cameraman and photographer, I run my own photography business and am currently researching the UAV market and need a platform so I can ask questions and seek answers. Any help in this area would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

I've been reading up on Gol & Varig, including the Wikipedia article, but am still not clear on one point. Maybe someone can advise.. Do Gol still fly any flights with the Varig name and/or logo on the aircraft (presumably the new logo with orange in it), or are all flights now under the 'Gol Transportes Aéreos' name and livery? In other words, do any a/c flying now carry the word 'Varig' on the fuselage? If so, which aircraft are still being flown under the Varig name? As far as I can see, Gol have only 737-700s & -800s? Thanks, Martin

Yours truly before heading into the sim... We are actually on the second floor on a platform. Now the inevitable question, could I fly the plane. Absolutely... Could I do it well, absolutely not (at first) First off the weight of the controls. Like paperclips if the AC is properly in trim, like lifting weights if it is out. The tendency of a simmer to constantly counter every movement with a counter movement. Ridiculous to a r/w pilot. Move the controls to where you want them, hold them there and re-trim the AC. The difference between being in trim and out of trim in the real world was what I found the be the biggest variable in how easy it was to cont…

I was listening to Denver approach on live ATC during my flight in FSX and I heard an aircraft declare an emergency, the pilot stated something metal had either hit or came off the fuselage (couldn't really hear well) He requested they roll the trucks. Hope everything goes ok. 120 souls on board

I've only been at this hobby since November, and I realize that I don't really like airliners. Like alot of folks, I find the prospect of sitting in front of a cloudscape for 4-8 hours boring, and I really don't want to try and work out how an FMC works. That said, I love airports. I have UK2000s Xtreme aitports for the UK detailed exquisitly, and with UT2 and Audio Environment, an airport in FSX is as exhiliarating and exciting as any in real life. Grass strips and regional airports are OK, but nothing beats the tension of taxing out to the runway of a big airport past innumerable fins, airport trucks whizzing around, jets, being pushed back, a line of jets descendi…

Night Environment vs. Real Life Night shoots One of our team members got back from his vacation in Corsica Island real life night shoots compared side by side to Night Environment representation for the same area I thought it who’d be fun to share Enjoy Ajaccio, real life Ajaccio FSX Coti-Chiavari, real life Coti-Chiavari, FSX (A is the point which my real pic was shot from; D is the aiming direction) "I'm pleased to see how our work is a rather acceptable representation of the reality."

KFC... It'd be nice to think of a cargo airline dedicated to transporting Kentucky Fried Chicken around the world, wings on the wing - but I do know that 'Purolator' are a Canadian transport/courier company! The JustFlight 727-200 Professional package comes with a livery for 'KFC Purolator Cargo', but Googling finds no other reference to them as a current or defunct air cargo carrier. Anyone know anything about them? I have a note from somewhere (I am not sure where I found it now) that they are/were based at CYLW & CYHM... Who is 'KFC' here? http://www.avcanada.ca/forums2/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=27742 Again, Googling only gets chicken references (of …

Here are a couple of videos of some large planes making the drops... DC10 dropping fire retardant over here a few weeks ago in Twisp/Winthrop... Goodness that is a BIG PLANE!
