Hello all, I'm always curious as to what aircraft people generally like the most. What I also find interesting is that generally, people from certain regions prefer certain aircraft- for example, it seems that most Europeans favour Airbus over Boeing, while North Americans favour Boeing over Airbus. Out of pure interest, I'm putting this theory to the test! In the poll, I was limited to 20 answers per question, so I had to group certain aircraft together, hopefully in a logical way. I only included jet aircraft and aircraft that are currently in service (i.e. no A350, A320neo, 737MAX, etc at the time of writing). For me, my all-time favorite aircraft family is …

Recently I've gotten into flight simming and aviation in general. Sitting and watching the AOA videos back to back like it's a new season of Game of Thrones, and then also watching the various disaster documentaries. I've started flying my only craft I purchased, which is a Baron 58 from Carenado. Not the best plan, but not the worst. I"m curious to know what people think about finding their "path" in simming? What I mean is actually going step by step all the way to a certain goal. For instance, after learning all the basics for VFR and IFR I could do: 1. Fly a set number of hours VFR to real world destinations, no more than an hour but no less than 30min…

Our local press ran a nice article on Friday about a B-13 Staggerwing that has been kept at the local airport, Macon County Airport (1A5). BTW - I've never tried to share a .pdf - if there are better ways to do it and make it show directly in my post, I'm game. For now you'll have to download it from my public DropBox folder... https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5949750/B-17%20Staggerwing%20-%20Franklin%20Press%20Article%2007-25-2014.pdf Hope you enjoy the story, Scott LOL - got the post title wrong as I was thinking of the digital D-17 Staggerwing in my P3Dv2 library...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I have noticed an intolerance which seems to be growing towards any freedom of speech where it involves Freeware.I think there is a serious danger that any comments which are not glowing praise of a freeware product will become unacceptable in the forum and stifle the whole basis of what a forum is about. This is a MSFS forum to discuss all things relating to flight simulators. It is a place to learn and improve our simulations and that includes freeware developers learning and improving as well.I have been involved with numerous freeware…

As some of you know I do a lot of flight sim videos ... it's how I wind down my day before I go to sleep. My YouTube channel is here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0irouYfN6ewMCDblzAcXuA So a while back I started to see that whenever I posted a video I almost immediately got a dislike ... as a test I didn't post one of my videos anywhere other than just up on my channel. So I check into the dislike (only because it's recurring) and notice that it's someone from Malaysia (yes with enough digging you can find out who hits a dislike), especially if one is a YouTube partner. So what's the "stalker" part in this? Well, the only way these dislikes (in most cases…

So, after spending the past 40 minutes going through comments on facebook news posts of the recent air crashes, something kept bothering me greatly: All the people saying they wont travel anymore and the world is ending! As someone who loves aviation, it bothers me how three crashes close timed to each other can affect the public so greatly. So, here is what I posted to my personal Facebook. "I'm tired of everyone saying "Oh my all these plane crashes, never flying again" and "All these plane crashes...why is the world ending?!" First, flying is the safest way to travel. Period. In 2012, the U.S. alone lost about 33,000 people in car crashes...compare that to 360 of f…

Would someone please explain why I keep seeing all this talk about building a second runway at Gatwick - there is no mention of the already present second runway. Is it never used or unused for some other reason? In any case it seems strange that it is never mentioned. Keith

Haris Suleman, a 17 year old HS student and his father, Barbar Suleman crashed shortly after takeoff from Pago Pago last Tuesday evening. They were en-route to Hawaii as their round the world flight was more than two-thirds complete. My heart goes out to this young man who came so close to fulfilling his dream. The loss of both her husband and her son has been devasting to Mrs. Suleman and her surviving daughter. Several weeks ago another round the world 19 year old flew from Pago Pago on pretty much the identical flight plan. His RTW set a world record as the "Youngest Pilot to Fly Around the World Solo." NOTA BENE: This story was mistakenly posted to the …

...and dream of becoming an astronaut! Aviation eBrief's lead article today is an inspiring story of a young man from a tiny village in Tanzania who has dreamt "B I G" since he was seven years old. Today, at fifteen he has just completed his first year at Florida Air Academy with the help of a partial scholarship from "Epic Change," a nonprofit that raises money for education and technology. Here is a link to the aforementioned Aviation eBrief article. I've already made a small Kickstarter pledge to help him attain his goals. http://r.smartbrief.com/resp/fVmOBWBepMCHzSjeCicOiECicNFvYZ?format=standard I encourage everyone to read this terrific spee…

Eastern time is GMT-4. The departure time is 1:17AM Thu = 6:17PM PT Wed = 9:17PM ET Wed. It took off 32 min later than the scheduled 12:45AM local time. The (exp…

I thought I'd pass this along in hopes that it might help someone. If it helps even one other person, it's worth it. Four years ago I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and the doctor recommended I have a defibrillator implanted. This device will detect a life threatening heart arrhythmia and automatically deliver a shock to the heart to get it beating again normally. It will deliver multiple shocks if necessary. At the time, I really didn't want the device, and thought I was basically bullied into getting it. Having it is not really a problem, modern microwave ovens do not affect them, but we're advised to stay away from HAM radio including the radios in l…

Matt Guthmiller is about to finish his solo around the world flight in a Bonanza. He will top it off with two legs of about 2,400 miles. The last one being from Honolulu to San Diego. He will set a record for being the youngest person to fly solo around the world. I know this has been mentioned here before but I thought I would re-visit. Here are some links. https://www.facebook.com/LimitlessHz/timeline http://flightaware.com/live/flight/N367HP http://www.limitless-horizons.org/itinerary/

Here is a somewhat amusing, yet very disturbing report concerning a reporter who was stopped by a TSA agent who apparently skipped school the day they discussed the District of Columbia in Civics class... Oh, that's right... they don't teach "Civics" in schools any more do they. Anyway, this remarkably uninformed TSA agent demanded to see this reporter's passport! http://flightaware.com/squawks/view/1/7_days/popular/43020/Reporter_stopped_by_TSA_agent_who_didn_t_know_District_of_Columbia_is_in_US

TAIPEI, Taiwan (AP) — Taiwan's Central News Agency says a plane has crashed in a failed emergency landing, killing 51 people. The news agency cited the head of the fire department in the Taiwanese county of Penghu as saying that seven people were also injured in the crash. The report cites the Civil Aviation Administration as saying the flight crashed Wednesday with 54 passengers and four flight crew and was operated by a Taiwanese airline, TransAsia Airways. The report says the plane likely crashed when an attempt to make an emergency landing in the city of Magong.

Hello! I have a couple of questions regarding this quite famous problem. What can happen to a passenger who is continuously disrupting the comfort of other passengers around but does not escalate the conflict to the level of a prosecutable criminal offense or something that would be a safety issue so he could not be easily threatened with diverting the aircraft and calling the police and such things? For example this guy is talking very loud or abusing people around or prevents the passenger behind from eating his meal with his seat backrest position and continuously refuses to stop doing such things? What to do with those guys? And what about the opposite si…
