Modern a/c systems are so extensive that nothing goes wrong and pilots only have to monitor systems so they often miss something as in Turkish Airlines or when the systems can't do anything the pilots are totally out of the loop and don't know what to do either (AF447). Here at last is a fix for the problem http://vimeo.com/102459028

  2. Hello! I did not find much useful information about that so I decided to ask a question. Nowadays there are legal acts and agreements which state what country jurisdiction is applicable to something happened on board of a flying aircraft. Also if you have to react to a crime right on board somehow for example as landing will take some time you have Tokyo convention for this and other things like that. But the Tokyo convention came into force only in nineteen sixty nine and some other things of that sort even later. What was there before that? After all problems similar to the ones we have nowadays always existed and there certainly were lots and lots of passenger …

Hi. :-) Anyone who knows to read these? There is a great site over at baseops.de. I also have PFPX but it seems like only wind is illustrated in different flightlevels. I guess i want to learn what to look for like turbulence and CB clouds great windstream etc. Dont know to read the maps though. Could be cool when the weather radar arrives to combine it with ASN live. Thanks Michael

The Invisible Highway, a story how the airplane changed the world. Most extraordinary and awe-inspiring aspect of our world. Scheduled for 2015 release and narrated by Harrison Ford. Check out the first trailer. http://www.aviationtheinvisiblehighway.com/ Zoran

  6. Most of us know that real world pilots and controllers can get a little snuffy from time to time... and everyone who flys on a realism based flight sim network can certainly attest to this. The link below is a real world Delta pilot who had a little more than usual to say to an Atlanta controller. Good reminder for those of us who often seek (or demand) perfection from controllers and pilots on VATSIM. We should all strive for that, but falling short shouldn't be a death sentence, though emulating Hogan's Goat is another story... http://jobs.aol.com/articles/2014/07/28/captain-happy-snappy-air-traffic-controller/?ncid=txtlnkusaolp00000058 Fly Happy!

  7. Hi everyone, One thousand posts on an internet forum is not a massive deal, however I decided to do a little write-up on Avsim and the role, to whatever extent, it has played in my life. I stumbled upon Avsim in the build-up to the PMDG NGX release. As a 13 year old with a budding passion for hardcore simming, I had been buying tubeliner add-ons in attempt to learn the incredibly complex systems of modern airliners, and the NGX looked to be the next step up. I lurked for a long time, a tad scared at the idea of posting anything to a public forum that could be deconstructed and criticized by hundreds of simmers more knowledgeable than I, but sooner or later I start…

I'm tired. I don't like having to deal 40 problems before I can even begin think about flying. First it crashes because I don't have UIAutomationcore thing. Then it crashes because of some other unkown reason. Then I find out I have to remap my joystick settings back into FSUIPC after having to reinstall FSX. I'm done. All I want to do is click on FSX, and not have yet another new problem crop up. I just want to fly.

Just wondering if anyone that works at CYYZ or travels through there often could explain to me how the gate numbers work. I see on flight aware that the 77W domestic flights usually land at D39 or D49. The unusual thing is I can't seem to find the 77W leaving that gate for another 20 hrs. That just seems like a very long time to have a plane like that sitting around. All international flights with the 77W leave from gate E73-E77. Do the gate # change or do the move them planes around before they depart. Any help would be appreciated

  11. Hello everybody, The title sums it up. I am looking for a program in which I can organise all my software, the email adresses, the registration keys.... So far I have been running a tight ship but with the collection growing everyday things get more or less out of control and it is time to bring everything together in one program/application In the past I have been looking at CAsoft but that developer seems to have vanished. The website is still available but the software itself cannot be purchased anymore. Is there anybody who can give me info on such a program? All help will be very much appreciated. I guess it was only a matter of time since their oldest 744 is about 25 years old: http://www.frequentbusinesstraveler.com/2014/07/delta-to-begin-to-retire-boeing-747s/ Not sure how long the other 12 will be in service, but it seems like just yesterday when I saw them in Northwest paint. I flew on a 744 last year from Atlanta to Tokyo and it was nice having the updated seatback entertainment system onboard. That route is one that will switch to a 777 next month. On my next flight across the pond I make look at Detroit-Tokyo on what would probably my last ever 744 flight :( Delta's newest 744 was built in 2002, so maybe they'll stay around longer than I thin…

So, I thought I'd introduce myself by asking the AVSim community what you guys would like for flying tutorials. A little background info: I'm a freshly Instrument Rated private pilot. I also like playing my fair share of X-Plane and a tiny bit of Prepar3D. I'd like to make my own tutorials (Text tutorials with graphics, not videos) because I feel they are easier to follow (If well done) without pausing a video every minute. So any tutorial requests that you guys would like to see? (More on the IFR side of flying, but I'll do other things!) Just an FYI, I'll probably have them in PDF format, but probably a dedicated forum post in the Flight School section …

Just wanted to share it with you guys, exactly how I'm spending this summer in front of FSX, mostly. Fear? Yep, I will start with my fear ragerding simming. Last few months I practically live with a fear of, well, how to put this... A FEAR of to get boread frim simming! Yes, to get bored, to be totally not interested in simming, to be completely cold about it. This fear comes mostly because I strongly believe that I will spend the most quality my free couple of of hours daily beside FSX. No other games, no music, no movies, no nothing. Just simming. If suddenly I got bored by simming, I believe that I would not spend quality time with something else, not even close. …

I am interested in the above aircraft simulation. However I have heard that it demands a good computer to run well. How can I assess whether or not it is worth buying for my current system? I can find no minimum spec for it on the PMDG website and PCPilot failed miserably to even mention such a thing in their review of this software. It's all very well to say how wonderful the software is when I did read someone say they got a frame rate of 8 with it. I attach my DX Diag file

Hey all! I have a stupid question to ask, and I'm a bit buzzed right so I might not be in my right mind. But there's one issue I've been wondering in my head such as if you're flying as a passenger in a real commercial airliner at cruise level. And you suddenly open your carry on bag and pull out a laptop and a joystick, you put the laptop on your tray table and the joystick on your lap and fire on let's say a plane exactly the same type you fly in... What would normally happen? My bet is you'll be asked to put it away, or something worse such as paranoia passengers trying to arrest you and tape you with duct tape onto your seat, but maybe not? Not gonna do…
