Hello, I've been receiving several identical emails from the computer magazine website for over a week about the new licensing of flight. I don't care about their newsletter: I'd rather they send me the computer pilot issues that they owe me.

I'm in the middle of a trip to Kenya and just flown out to Mara Serena airstrip from Wilson airport (HKNW). I've flown in airliners and in private planes a couple of times, this was my first time in an air taxi. I was very excited (obviously!), thought I'd just share some FSX moments I had with you. Wilson is a small domestic airport just outside Nairobi and it seems to be the safari/tourism market that it caters for (as well as parking up dozens of privately owned light aircraft). I was at Wilson for an hour and a half and must have seen 30 planes take off. It was incredibly busy. A dash 7 and 8 were being prepped by Air Kenya Aviation, but I wasn't sure which a…

It takes one skilled dude (or gal) to fly a jet into Guatimala City. Go try it. Get low slow and dirty early, fly the 7 mile arc inside of mountians and dive on final. If I ever get that down i'm going for Tegucigalpa. (Thats the ILS DME rwy 01 ) MGGT.

Honestly, if I don't make myself a nice little latte or cappucino, I can't fly. Either I drink it during pre-flight or once in cruise, but I can't do without it. Any little habits you can't fly without?

Husky Says No to Kennel My two dogs are Malamute-pitbull mixes, and sometimes do the same thing. I call it their "Sit-down protests" They won't fight, but if they don't want to go outside or something, they will just lay down and become inert in a sort of "Hell-no-we-wont-go" sort of way, leaving me to feel like a cop who forgot his handcuffs.

Has anybody invested in this training program. At $19 per month I'm a bit concerned about the ongoing cost. I'm sure a person could charge through the content fairly quickly but I don't have that much "disposable" free time. On the other hand if the feedback was generally good it might be worth a try. http://www.flyaoamedia.com/aviatorpro/

I'm due to fly out of Heathrow to Nairobi in 12 hours, quite an adventure! The forecast is for heavy thunderstorms in the area at takeoff, do you know what I'm concerned about??? A CTD with all that weather, all that traffic and Xtreme Heathrow! Which brings me onto another 'blurring the lines between sim and real life', very occasionally I see a plane buzzing overhead and watch it for a couple of seconds, half expecting the red label telling me model and altitude to appear!

Just an hour ago, a train carrying six 737 fuselages, as well as parts for both 747's and 777's, derailed for unknown reasons... sending three of the six fuselages into the river, one badly damaged :(. You can find more info in this link: http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/derailed-train-montana-sends-boeing-fuselages-river-n149321 Speed is not considered a factor.

This is a chart of data taken to-date from over 750 respondents. This chart tells me that forums are the most important source of information add-on products, followed by product reviews. The least important sources are Vendor Email, Press Releases and "other". This second chart seems to me to indicate that AVSIM products reviews, in terms of importance, are sort of "ho-hum", compared to the library and forums themselves. Hobby news is less important than reviews - and that is rather surprising. The rating for community member reviews is pretty high. But, if you take a look at the member contributor reviews found here, you will see that as of today, the …

Hello, Guys! As Flight MH17 has crashed from (probably) missile. Its mean commercial flight is unsafe on 33,000ft too? Too much pathetic. No safety of Aircraft at 33000ft. Its mean it'll be unsafe at at 40000ft too. What do you say: At how much height a missile can hit the aircraft and at how much height a heavy kalashnikov can hit aircraft? Your ideas and experienced needed, Regards, http://metro.co.uk/2014/07/17/flight-mh17-malaysian-airlines-passenger-plane-shot-down-over-ukraine-4801902/

Fox News is reporting that a Malaysian 777 airliner crashed over the Ukraine. Some reports that it was shot down. Over 295 passengers on board. Really sad news! Locking this topic as someone else has reported the disaster. Best regards,

This is a shout out to anyone over at Laminar, who may (and I hope) read this. A kind of public shaming. First, thanks for getting X-Plane on to Steam. It was an accomplishment for sure, especially with the Greenlight vetting process. But now what? Well, there is nobody from your company helping out or moderating in the Steam forum. Guys are asking for help with their systems and software. People have sales related questions or are complaining about the pricing. There are no "stickies" offering tips or clues. No links to other support forums, nor any mention of the great community mods out there. It's like someone took the time and energy to run a m…

Hello I understand that it would be quite an unusual situation and such thing is very unlikely to happen, but what do you think will happen should a passenger ask somebody of the crew to see some of the usual standard flight papers like the load manifest and such other things? I can not think of a good reason for a usual passenger to ask for that, maybe of pure personal interest, as you guess, this guy would likely be a great sim and aviation fan... What do you think of such a situation? Thank you!

First of all I want to thank the FLY NG academy for the amazing reception and for creating the only full blown professional 737-800 simulator in the region. It is located in Belgrade, Serbia, and it is fully licensed for full pilot training and official test. I did just a quick tour for a start, wanted to feel the cockpit environment and just to chat with the captain with over 13 000 hours. Just sitting in the 1:1 cockpit is amazing, and I simply couldn't believe how different the cockpit look and feel live. How much is just the glareshield panel in front of main displays (at least 40cm), and how much high it is. What you see in the sims is just a sketch, believe me. PMD…
