  4. I have tried for two days to have (what always has worked in the past, in seconds..) to be able to reset my Library Password, and have my account information sent to my registered email address. The AVSIM Library ROBOT has not sent any email link to reset password, for multiple times tried over the last 24 hours. I do get to this page...but when I go to my email service, no email has been sent from AVSIM, as it always had before..: We have successfully retrieved your account details from the database, and have sent you an email detailing how to regain access to your account. Should you not receive this email within one hour, please contact our Library Managers fo…

http://www.northjersey.com/news/n-j-a-wet-blanket-for-seaplanes-1.1364833 I used to drive by Greenwood Lake a lot and would see a plane tied up to the western shore near the New York Border.

  7. Hi all, I have a burning passion to get into the flight simulation industry in the engineering domain as a long-term career path. However, I don't have all the necessary experiences that CAE or Thales or the likes look for. I do have what I consider as the appropriate qualification and some previous experience in a sim manufacturing company. Can anyone give me some suggestions on how to get my foot in the door? I am willing to travel to other countries (currently in Australia) if need be. Thanks in advance, Brendan

Hi guys, I'm trying to fly A380 Abacus, version 1 the right way but I need the users ' manual. How do I operate this plane? I can only get A380 V2 manuals which is not the same as the first version. I cannot get it here and nor at Abacus' site. The reason why I want it, is that this plane sometimes behaves funny on take off and one does not know why. One crash, big stall with no recovery and one take off fairly ok ... It does not look difficult, I think it has to be flown just the right way. I've had it for sometime and it's time to fly it. Anyone for assistance? A million thanks in advance. john

Well, it was one of those days, I guess. I told someone I'd do a test flight to try something out. Planned a flight from KATL to KIAD. Nice weather...nice plane. Everything went wrong. First attempt: Decided to do it in a different paint of the airplane. Found out that my mouse macros (yes, I need mouse macros for this plane) don't work in the other repaint. Stop the sim, go back to the other repaint. Second attempt: The FSX flightplan that I filed got modified by FSX when I changed the cruise altitude and I got sent to a fix that I don't even know what it is. Stop, try again. Third attempt: Check the flight plan, altitude is fine but the ATC progra…

I'd like to offer some things I've learned from flight simulation that have carried over from my hobby into my real life. I certainly never expected nor intended for this to happen, I pursued this out of curiosity and simply to have fun, but I am discovering that my approach to being a pretend pilot has strengthened me and helped me with skills that I can use in real life on a daily basis. Mental agility. It didn't really dawn on me how exceptionally intelligently engineered the 737 is until I got FS2Crew for the NGX and practiced real life PF flows. The design of the flight deck and the different roles of the PF and PM are the result of thousands of engineers think…

The cost of the diversion was estimated at £350,000 - an Australian court made such a passenger meet some of the costs as well as fining him.. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/11692228/Transatlantic-flight-diverted-after-passenger-kept-demanding-nuts.html

  21. This past weekend I was doing some hand flying, getting ready for my bi-annual. So I took out the Katana DA20. Pre - Pre -flight complete. Weather looks good. From MD to Ohio. Pre-flight complete. Needed to add some oil. Oil door won't close. Ok, maybe I can get away with it...taxi to end of runway...take a quick look outside...nope oil door flapping in the wind. Shot down and fix the oil door. Ok, oil door closed...just had to hold the button a little longer. Ok, open flight plan... and take off. Contact center get flight following. Flying flight plan...ok..maybe 45km away. descend to 4,500. Getting a little cloudy. Center told me to contact o…

Project Airbus A380 Freeware Review The A380 – the King of the Skies. Rendered extremely well by the folks over at Project Airbus (http://www.pafs.wf/) and found right in our library. An add-on built for both FSX and FS2004, this is freeware you wouldn’t want to miss! Base File (Air France Livery): http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=155704 Installation This aircraft has to be manually installed, like most freeware aircraft do. But it’s relatively simple. Just extract the file you downloaded, and find the folder and place it into your C:\\...\FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes folder! Exterior Model The rendering of this aircraft is absolutely splendid. The realism le…

I've been listening to a lot of live atc but mostly approach and departure, so I usually miss the point where clearances are given to descend from cruise. I know the phraseology is something like "[callsign], cleared to descend at your discretion" but my question is, does the crew need to wait for an explicit descent clearance before reaching t/d? If you reach t/d but haven't been explicitly cleared, are you expected to hold or is it expected that you follow your fmc profile?

Good day! Hoping this is the appropriate forum to post this topic. I have been researching the ProSim 737 Professional Simulator Suite software, specifically the Flight Model module. I was considering purchasing only that module for now and was wondering whether it would be of any use without purchasing the entire suite? I was interested in checking the flight model in comparison to the real world, but would it be functional as a standalone module? I am aware the suite consists of modules for panels, CDU, MCP, etc for cockpit builders but was primarily interested in the flight model as a standalone..Anybody got experience with this software? Regards.
