Hey guys, I know warbirds aren't as popular here as they are at SOH, but out of curiosity, whats your favorite warbird? Favorite warbird in general, currently simulated, want to see simulated. Flying warbirds is such a visceral form of flying, it's 'seat of the pants' flying seriously magnified. If you ever want to sharpen your 'seat of the pants' instincts, I can't think of a better teacher than a warbird. Not only does your 'grey matter' and instinct have to be sharp to fly the thing, you also get to keep a big V-12 or radial 'happy'. That and the sound of that big V-12 or radial is frickin awesome! Warbirds also look beautiful because they evolv…

  10. So, Simmarket has two companies doing soundsets these days: Arezone and Synchro-Soft. When I compare the soundsets for the same aircraft, to me, they sound wildly different. Compare the A36 sets and the PA46 Mirage sets. Is it just a "what we want to hear" thing? Or, maybe, a "where you put the microphone thing"?

I tried using the contact link and form to send amessage to AVSIM but it failed for some reason. I was trying to report the following 'failure'. The Front Page Link at the top left of the Forums menu is no longer working. Instead, it takes you to the forums index page. Until yesterday it worked and took you ti the front page where one could use a single click to view the 'What's new' in the library. I hope you can restore that useful link! I received a 'bounced' message to my email address. The partial info follows: --------------------------------------- This message was created automatically by mail delivery software. Hi, I've tried fsPassengers, but decided to use that software mainly for bush flying. With airliners I don't like it so much, but I do miss some of the announcements. Currently I've customised the wav files in my easyJet Airbus so that on pushback the Seatbelt button plays the actual easyJet safety announcement, and on parking up, the No Smoking button plays a short easyJet crew announcement about deplaning (taken from You Tube). But this got me thinking. Isthere any way I could have a dozen anouncements to choose from? I could collect these from You Tube and turn them into wav files. I do have a custom switch unit which has a USB connector, I did assign various cock…

OK folks I don't know much about this sort of thing. I have read the spiel on the website advertising. This is not advertising the product but asking about it's worth. http://www.pcaviator.com/store/product.php?productid=20521&cat=0&page=1 I have no idea if it really works as stated or intended. Surely, each system is different and results will vary, perhaps considerably. Anyone with knowledge out there that can enlighten us (ME) would be appreciated. Especially before I buy a new gaming PC this fall. Bryan

  15. Hi everyone, I have a question about the standard operation procedure when commercial airplanes docking at the gate in real world. I know that when 400Hz power and PCA are available, pilots are usually required to use them rather than APU. But I have seen two different procedures: a. Start APU while Taxiing ---> Taxi to the gate ---> Switch to APU electricity ---> Turn off engines --> Connect bridge power and PCA --> Switch to bridge power and PCA --> Shutdown APU b. Taxi to the Gate ---> Shut down one engine (usually the left one) --> Connect bridge power and PCA --> Switch to bridge power and PCA --> Shut down main engine. …

Hi guys. Im a old FS-entusiast, trying to bring back the fun of Flight simulator after some years out the FS enviroment. I have big problems with running FSX on Windows 10, and thats why I need a tip from you guys. Should I go for the FSX Steam version, and hope that this version is better than the original FSX with Accelration pack? Or should I buy the PMDG 737 for P3D? I have already bought P3D a year ago, and I tested it in Windows 10, and it was working fine. Hopefully I get some good tips inside here. See you in the skies. (Hopefully)

Hello, I was on a Southwest 737-700 the other day and I noticed that after the pilots started engine 2 they turned the right pack on and then both packs on after both engines started. I normally only turn both packs on until both engines are started. I tried this different style with the pmdg ngx and it worked. Could anyone explain why this is done and if this is done on a normal basis? Sam

  19. Airbus just patented a jet that could fly from London to New York in 1 hour (air) Business Insider Benjamin ZhangAugust 3, 2015 Last month, the US Patent and Trademark Office approved an application from Airbus' Marco Prampolini and Yohann Coraboeuf for an "ultra-rapid air vehicle and related method of aerial locomotion." In other words, Airbus just patented a hypersonic jet. Airbus expects the jet to reach speeds as high as Mach 4.5 — or 4 1/2 times the speed of sound. According to PatentYogi's Deepak Gupta, this means the Airbus jet could make the trip from London to New York in just one hour. That's a significant improvement over the 3 1/2 hours it took fo…

Hi guys, I am a non-native English speaker, who is frustrated of not having the opportunity to speak the language. Writing is fine, however it's different to speak and needs routine either. I am middle of my twenties and fly online on VATSIM with my NGX - for some a reason the 777 doesn't work. After a while FSX doesn't respond when I configure the FMC. I do fly especially in the EU, from time to time in the US. Do we have simmers here, who might be interested in group flights and skype conversations? I think this may be a good thing especially during long flights it's getting boring after a while. Furthermore we will generate more traffic automatically. Looki…

  22. Hi all, In the past, I've heard numerous rumours that some airlines prohibit manual control of an aircraft in normal operations. Some videos I've found indeed show pilots leaving the autopilot engaged until short finals (500 feet or so). Is this true, or is it purely to the PIC's liking (meaning they could fly the whole SID/STAR if they felt like it)? Thanks in advance.

  23. I am an Airbus fan, I won't lie. Cockpit layout, flows and procedures are far more suited for me. Airbus logic is also more suited for beginners. Systems managing is simpler (for example packs management). After endless flights with Project Airbus A320/321 two years ago, I switched to PMDG NGX last year, and finally this month I decided to relive Aerosoft A319/320, just to make sure that I spent the money wisely, since FPS is worse than in NGX which had a negative effect on me. Of course, after several test flight I fell in love with it pretty much, immersion is fantastic. One thing I like more about the Boeing is how they look. I mean, 737 is prettier than A320, 757 is b…

You decide whom members here this applies to... "Kids are funny. Ever notice that for a kid, everything is either really really good, or really really bad? As my kids have grown, and are now getting to an age where they have preferences for one brand of something or another, I notice this more and more. Either something is perfect, and has no problems at all, or it's terrible, and has no value or redeeming qualities." ( From http://www.rodbikes.com/articles/disco-fever/all-or-nothing.html )
