Hangar Chat

This forum is for the discussion of things you might discuss when going into an airport hangar.  Please make sure that your topic isn't covered in another forum before posting here.  Please refrain from controversial topics...politics, religion, conspiracy theories, climate change, COVID etc.  Topics that elicit or are deemed by staff likely to elicit heated argument, contention, or otherwise objectionable banter will be removed from view.  We allow some latitude, but please remember that, first and foremost, this is a flight-simulator oriented site frequented by people from all walks of life.

Hello All; Does anyone here know how to export the Flight Plan from PFPX to Plan G. The way I do it is lock the FSX SE flight to PLAN G, but when I try to copy the route from PFPX and paste it into Plan G, it doesn't let me. It only allows me to enter the DEPP Airport and the ARR airport. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you,

WOW! It's not a fully vertical takeoff, but the position of the camera makes it look that way. That quick level off was a little thrilling too. I bet for an instant, there was some zero gee weeeeeeeeee going on. https://youtu.be/pxvwGppH4zg

EU airline passengers have been entitled to damage for delays other than those caused by "extraordinary circumstances" such as severe weather or security. The airlines claimed that that also included technical faults on aircraft. The European Court of Justice has decided against the airlines resulting of ten thousands of airline passenger claiming millions of euros.

Can an admin or mod maybe explain why the post I started in Hangar Chat 09/19/2015 has not been listed? Just wonder if I broke a specific rule on hear, tho I am at a loss as to which one. Speculative maybe but would be nice to have a discussion about it. Many thanks. Gary

Q3:Should we at least be cautiously optimistic? Please don't shoot me if you have seen this,I am after all, only the messenger...lol All the best. Gary

i wanted to share with you all a "horror story" from a seller's point of view about a recent transaction through Ebay. I recently had my old Alienware laptop on Ebay for sale. Despite having to take a bath on it's value, I had several offers come my way to take it off my hands. I finally settled with someone who made an offer that was acceptable and followed through with sending the laptop out to them after receiving an email stating that funds were transferred. This is where things go really wrong. After sending the laptop, I informed the member of shipment and sent the UPS tracking number. Their first response was that the shipment would not arrive in time f…

Anyone have experience with VP3D. For what it offer it seems like a good deal. I'm seen vague searches of the platform maybe being supported by Vatsim. Not sure if that has any validity but that would be pretty nice. Fully functional cockpits meaning everything is clickable and functions as it would in a real plane. Thank for your feedback!

Posting this here, because the product is really cross-platform... ( FSX, P3D ) I was completely unaware of this add-on, but reading the feature list it looks simply amazing. Lot's of functionalities being modeled. Any comments from users really welcomed :-) Since an install of either of this sims will only be of P3Dv2, I am specially interested in IF10 Pro.

I tend to agree with the poster who said this whole farce is just Kabuki theater, to make it look like MS is is fighting for its customers when in fact they have a long history of deals with the government. I think its the standard to follow. Ive been following the CRJ 700/900 thread for a while now, and im so impressed by the constant communication by Mathijs Kok the project manager on the forums. Its nothing like ive seen in this hobby. The CRJ is a very very late project, but what a difference it makes when you dont wait for it in silence. Not only is their communication, fielding responses and inquiries from people, but the transparency of the state of the project is second to none. The other week, t…

  16. So as I was browsing the interwebs for something to waste my money on, I found something that appeared to actually be a very useful addition to my FS woes of restoring FSX and P3D backups. The problem is that it almost sounds too good to be true so my pre-purchasing skepticism is getting the best of me. The program is called FSCubed and its made by an old scenery company, Sim Design Group, that I remember buying some FS9 sceneries from. The reason that I am skeptical is because it claims to be able to identify, compress, and archive any scenery and/or airport from any developer in one click and fully restore it to its "original state" and scenery order with no cd-keys…

  19. Back when we, Dovetail Games, announced that we would be bringing FSX to Steam we also confirmed that we would be working on a brand new flight simulator. We are currently busy with the early stages of development for this new simulator under the codename Dovetail Games Flight Simulator (DFS).* If you have been joining us on Twitch[www.twitch.tv] for the last few weeks you will also know that we promised to create a space where you can share with us your ideas for what you would like to see in this new sim. That space is right here in this thread, so if you have an idea we would love to hear it. Whether your idea is, big or small, we invite you to share them with us,…

Well, with the virtual world domination of Train Simulator, you hardly ever hear very much about the competition. Run 8 is pretty much for the hardcore, and so has only a tiny share of the market, and Trainz has had also-ran status for a very long time. Now Trainz is back, after a modest kickstarter, and has released Trainz, new era, in a bid to recapture some lost ground. Essentially its a total overhaul of the Trainz franchise, leapfrogging DTG to the next-gen graphics plateau and introducing a much friendlier playstyle than before, while retaining some of the details that made it a bit more intricate than Train simulator. DTG is working to make the jump with its ow…

  21. Any of you who are pilots or are taking flying lessons have probably heard the phrase 'Aviate, Navigate, Communicate' when describing what a pilot does. This really applies on how we deal with emergencies, the priority of actions to take. Anyway, it can be said that while we do all 3 of these things when we fly. we might find ourselves focusing more on one or the other. Aviate: The act of flying the plane, keeping it withing limitations, monitoring systems, ensuring their safe operation. Navigate: Doing a task with the plane....ie going somewhere or performing a task, or mission. Using the instruments and equipment to perform this task. Communicate: Tel…

Got a registered (current) version of FRAPS, but have a problem. In the latest version, there's an option in the 'Movie' section to choose the 'Loop Buffer Length' in seconds. Mine will only allow up to 999 seconds (about 250Mb) when recording FSX.Anyone else have this problem?Have asked over at FRAPS forum and support, but no way of fixing yet.

I'm using Aerosoft A319/A320, and it calculates flight time in MCDU, and I add 20 minutes if taxi is normal, or 25 minutes if it's a long taxi at bigger airports. I flew today LSZH - LIMJ (Zurich - Genoa), and exact time of arrival was 59 minutes, let's say an hour, and that is too much for 400km route (filled flightplan). That's exactly an average speed of 400km/h, which is the same as a smaller turboprop plane departing from a GA field (no pushback, short taxi), resulting in same flight time. Before I continue... I know that short flights are not time and fuel efficient, but 1 hour trip for 350-400km route is too much. And I didn't even added holding time on busy ai…

Hawker Hunter T7 crashed at the Shoreham airshown in England last Saturday. The pilot is critical in hospital but at least 11 other people were killed on the adjacent main road (A27) but the police suggest that the loss could rise to 20 when all the weckage is cleared fom the road. The CAA is considering whether air show safety requirements should change. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news
