The family of one of the teens missing off the coast of Florida has reached out on Facebook to a friend of mine. They are able to compensate for a pilot, plane, and all expenses if anyone can help them search along with the coast guard. I have an email address they sent out. They have expanded the search area upwards towards the coast of South Carolina and I guess they just want as many sets of eyes out there as possible. If you or anyone you know could help out, please pm me. I know we have many RL pilots here. Thank you. Dan - -

Fondly remembered by both virtual and real-life pilots, I propose a toast to Meigs Field. RiP (unless of course you've downloaded the scenery addon and are still flying there?? ;-) .. "Merrill C. Meigs Field Airport was a single strip airport that operated from December 1948 until March 2003. It was built on Northerly Island, the human-made peninsula..." MSFS - 2006 video... 727 Landing Meigs Field (old wobbly video footage but still a gem) RiP

Hi good people, I'm flying helicopters to add some variety to the sim and recently I bought some nice ones and managed to fly them fairly good. But I found just one problem. And that is when coming to land, I can not slow down the forward speed, or momentum. If I slow down while still coming down, or well in advance I might be in a situation that I start maybe going backwards and/or sideways on touch down. I hope I'm being clear on what the problem is. I see real helicoprters just hovering and slowly lower and touch down. My landings are a bit uneasy and nervous, so to speak. I can hover without problems, but the slowing down is not smooth. Maybe there …

Hello, I'll be heading to Toronto next month for a few weeks vacation. While there i'm planning to book some time in a full cockpit simulator. There are two i've been looking at: Ufly, which models a 777-200 http://uflysimulator.ca Threshold Aviation, which models a 737NG http://www.thresholdaviation.com Before i deicde which one to shell out CDN$150+ to, i'm trying to find opinions from anyone who may have used either one of these. It's a long shot, but has anyone here had an experience with them or know of any other options in the Toronto area? I know the ufly cockpit was built by Flightdeck Solutions, which from what i've read about Mike's experienes …

I've subscribed to Navigraph Charts but I was surprised that there is no resource there available for understanding LIDO charts. I'm wondering if anyone knows where some reference material might be found. Legend? Tutorials? etc. Cheers

This made me laugh out loud. Check out the "cool dude" controlling the speed boat with the sun shades. Watch it back in slow motion, its even better lol. You can actually see the woman's shades fly off her head in slow motion

I know FSX may not have a realistic taxi code but seems when I try this with LS MD80 and especially NGX it is problematic. The working engine has to be spooled up to 70% N1 just to get moving with flap and trim warnings going off. So much for fuel saving as well as safety of anyone behind you. Then you struggle to keep the aircraft in a straight line putting wear and tear on tires and breaks. So where is the economy? Comments from RW pilots or anyone else would be appreciated. This new feature in the FS2Crew Reboot got me interested.

I found the article at the following link interesting - http://www.techspot.com/news/61434-online-pirates-uk-could-soon-face-up-10.html . AVSIM does not condone piracy at all and when it becomes known a member is involved in software piracy, we immediately ban the member permanently. I'm just bringing this topic to everyone's attention and I would hope no one begins discussions about how great stealing software is and glorifying pirates. Best regards,

Ok the boys at REX helped me out and found that this was my issue with some crashes ------ In the WA settings, under the heading General Settings, there is a box that is labeled "Enable Radar." now after spending some more time with WA its actually pretty amazing - took off from Aspen and thick fog some thunder at 18,000 agl started to break out of the storm and below you can see it in all its glory - I am very impressed with WA - cant wait to try all the endless weather scenarios it will have to offer - if on the fence think twice as its hugely immersive - nothing else can do this and for the price to me a no brainer really - thanks for stopping by and go buy it - than…

Hey everyone, a couple questions regarding the infamous Embraer 145 regional jet. Are the packs on before the engines are started, and then turned off like in most other planes? Or are they off the whole time before the engines are started? After they start the engines, what is that awful screaming noise that lasts for a couple of minutes? I notice in some videos that they start one engine, and after it's started they rev it up for a good time until the second engine is started. What's up with that? When landing, one of my friends (who's not a pilot, just a plane spotter) said he notices that they usually flare up really high (like 10 degrees) in order to slow down to a…

I'm interested in hearing about peoples' worst (or challenging) real-life flights, either as a passenger or a pilot. Mine was as a passenger on a return flight from Corfu to Glasgow, Scotland. It was 1982 and I was flying with a friend in an old-looking DC10 that we both felt would probably break-up in mid air. My friend suffered agony during the flight due to pressure build up in his ears. He actually yelled out loudly in pain a few times it was that bad ..but nearly every other passenger including myself was unaffected by the pressure or else got over it quickly Next came very bad turbulence crossing the Alps, but the DC10's wings thankfully stayed glued on ;-…

https://youtu.be/95q_Ixn0j94 I filmed this now in July in Corfu, Greece. So, yes, video production is my second hobby beside aviation. B) And yes, there is a shot at the end of a video with A320. Enjoy the scenes and the music. Cheers and thanks for watching!

Hello everyone, I have recently gotten the chance to fly FlightSafety St. Louis' Level D Embraer 170 simulator. The staff there are amazing allowing a kid like me at only 14 to fly the real deal! I would like to thank Mr. Edward Donegan for this incredible opportunity. Flying the sim gave me a feeling that desktop flight sims just don't create. The motion while going through turbulence along with my terrible landings gave a sense of realism that flightsim with ezdok can't do. The control loading while flying (through the St. Louis arch and having to pull up stalling a bit at the end to clear the buildings) complements this realism allowing me to feel what I'm see…

just wondering if there are any add ons out there that will let ya tune in the freq of live atc just by using the radios in the cockpit? Everytime I listen to the live atc I have to go to the website and manually type in the airport code and scroll through the different freqs. Just wondering if there is anything like this? I heard of fsx chatter but that's it. Thanks
