Its not widely used anymore, but from what I can see its a much better Regional Plane than the still widely used ATR Turbo Prop. Was it very expensive to operate or was it killed off by the collapse of BAE rather than its decline causing the collapse of BAE. As a passenger I would feel safer on an Avro than a ATR. When I fly to Dublin a fly Ryan Air (Boeing) even though I hate them (Ryan Air)as I don't want to fly on the ATR Aer Lingus uses. Only thing I can see from history was an Avro Weak Spot was its ability to stop on a wet runway. The ATR on the other hand seems a complete nightmare to operate.

This is fantastic. You get the lot, everything they have including training VIDS for a reasonably priced monthly package. After years of scabbing about in google looking for freeware Its just wonderful having everything in crisp clear graphics at my fingertips. Just the training vids alone are worth at least one months subscription https://www.navigraph.com/ViewNews.aspx?newsId=70

Not sure if this is the right forum but oh well. I've always wanted to practice a sort of de-pressurization scenario, flying over the Andes or Himalayas or what have you. I've noticed in some JustPlanes programs and such, they have charts that depict escape routes for these kind of scenarios. Are these charts "confidential" and tailored to specific operators, or are they publicly available somewhere? I do not believe Navigraph has these charts. Here is an example of what I'm talking about: https://twitter.com/miami_rick/status/598464083705364480

Does anyone know if FS2002 has an option to have some kind of symbol shown in the middle of the screen to help you visually center yourself to a target? I think it might look something like the winged symbol in the middle of the artificial horizon display. I guess you could think of it as a "bug on the canopy." Or is there an add-on program for FS2002 that would have it?Thanks!Christine

As of this writing, it has been over 1,000 days since Oculus launched its very successful Kickstarter for the Rift virtual reality headset, and even longer since the company first made a splash at E3 2012. Back then the creators said a consumer release was “still a ways down the road,” and they’ve been equally vague about an actual release target for the nearly three years since. Today, the company is finally ready to at least give a solid seasonal target for that first consumer headset. The Rift will be available to consumers in “Q1 2016,” Oculus announced this morning. The announcement is light on details, save for a couple promotional images of the final consumer uni…

NY Times has a beautiful piece on 747 flying that will certainly strike a chord with my many long-haul airliner flightsimmers. It's not often you get such evocative prose about airliners, and it's written by a pilot (who covers some technical aspects), so this is a real treat. A taste: Land, not water, will predominate on this route to Tokyo — a journey across all of Eurasia, the world’s largest land mass, bookended by the blue of two seas. But these first minutes over the North Sea are enough to remind me that flying offers perhaps the last thing an aspiring pilot would expect: a close experience of water. About 70 percent of the world’s surface is ocean. Much of th…

Hello! (Sorry if this is the wrong forum, I'm new to the AVSIM Forums! ) This thread is home to my Round the World Citation Jet "Blog" sort of thing. I will be using Carenado's Cessna S550 Citation to fly around the globe for my first time in FSX since buying in 2010. It will be updated with screenshots and a trip report like etiquette throughout the coming weeks/months! The route is below: The journey will begin on the 2nd of May and will go ahead until the S550 is back at Bankstown in Sydney. The Aircraft is Australian Registered VH-MRG (Mike, Romeo, Gulf) Aircraft Statistics: Current Location: Bankstown (Sydney) ___________…

We all know Marcel for his absolutely groundbreaking Diamond Katana that he released a few years back. He is now working on the, by the community, much wanted Pilatus PC6 Turbo Porter. He just released this video demoing the startup/shutdown procedure of the Porter. It's a "rough" early build of the plane and there are some sound artefacts which won't be there in the final product. This is the only plane, except the A2A Texan, that I'm really looking forward to atm. Thanks for making the Porter, Marcel!

This should get the juices flowing! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ps00Agmjqyg Marcel Felde's Pilatus PT6 is coming along nicely. The turbine is modeled outside of FSX so it ought to work properly. We'll see. The Aerosoft forum post

Plea to Developers of FSX Addons. Limit .Net to 4.0 . FSX runs on XP FSX-SE runs on XP Therefore FSX addons should also be able to run on XP ! If you create your addons to Require .Net 4.5 (or above), then those still running XP cannot use your addons. Is there really some feature in 4.5 that you MUST use, that is not in 4.0 ?? While number of XP users is declining, is it really worth excluding those XP customers by making your addon require 4.5. ?? Note: The developers of FSX-SE , while compiling with VS2013, limited FSX-SE's .net version requirements to not exceed 4.0, thus making FSX-SE still runnable on XP.

Hello all, I live near EGXY which is used for practice runs for the Waddington airshow etc. For the past three days a Spitfire has been showing up and been doing circuits. Today the pilot must had a good breakfast as he/she is really beating up the main runway and doing steep turns at either end. To hear the Merlin engine (can't mistake it) look out of the window and see a Spitfire in plan view as it does a steep turn is quite something. Thought I'd share my good fortune. Gordon

I keep hearing just tidbits that one of our favorite developer is working on an F-28-0100. This could be an exciting addition to our recent FSX/P3D introductions of twin turbines. Ear to the ground! Regards, Ray

I know its a bad idea to fly ga as pic with a cold because you can get sinus block or other nasty things that could be dangerous distractions. But how long do you generally wait after having a cold before flying?

Yves "Jetman" Rossy has taken to the skies again -- this time, with a protégé in tow. Rossy has made a name for himself by flying with nothing but a jetpack attached to his body. In December, the Swiss daredevil even flew in formation with an airplane over Dubai. On Monday, a video was released showing Rossy flying once more over the gleaming emirate. This time, he was accompanied by skydiver and BASE jumper Vince Reffet, who also had a jetpack (or more accurately, a jet-propelled wing) strapped to him. Staggering stuff. Rossy, a former fighter pilot and airline pilot, is said to be the first person in the worldto have taken flight with a jet-propelled wing. He’s prev…

Hello Simmer guys! By the amount of members on this group, I want to do a survey about what kind of Flight simulation addons/software you wish to get at the future. Please just write down whatever you get in mind. About 777 EFB: Couple of months ago, I announced to model the EFB for PMDG 777. However, we are not sure to be in good position for that by taking into account the fact that Aurasim is on way to release the EFB Peformance Calculation soon. But, it's not yet excluded for lauching on the EFB project. Kind regards
