RSR is probably going to groan and go back to bed when he sees this. I've just received the July/August issue of PC Pilot, which features a very interesting interview with Mr. Randazzo. There is much discussion about PMDG's present and future, including the eagerly anticipated 747-400, 747-8 and of course the Douglas DC-6. Concerning the latter, when asked whether we will see more classic aircraft of yesteryear from the PMDG stable, his response is ( and I quote ): I think there will be more. In fact, the team making the DC-6 has told me that there will be more. They have their eyes set on a particular DC-3... So there we have it. Somebody fetch the thu…

  2. For those that may not be aware, the NGFS SIM-Posium has been working closely with UNIGINE Sim in gaining access to their Evaluation Kit to determine the overall ability of the engine to be used for the purpose of creating a next generation flight simulator. We now have access to that Kit, through September 30th of this year. Most of you are familiar with the UNIGINE Valley tech demo but may not be aware that UNIGINE also has a division within their company dedicated to Simulation and Training, this is known as UNIGINE Sim. Today the NGFS SIM-Posium received an email that included a UNIGINE 2 2015 roadmap, within the roadmap are clear evidence that UNIGINE is ded…

I have found this great app for METAR all over the world. The great thing is the map with many data layers (wind, temp, visibilty...) made for a good overview. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aeroperf.metam Regards,

G'day all, Over the past week, I have noticed that Singapore Airlines has taken two 777-200ERs so far, and sent them straight across the Pacific to Victorville. The two aircraft are 9V-SRK and SRN (13 and 12 years old respectively). Seems a bit young to send a 777 to storage... Would anyone know if these T7s are destined for a new owner? Cheers,

  8. Since I started using Aerowinx PSX my experience with X-Plane 10 and FSX, mostly FSX:SE since that was the platform I ended up adopting for visuals of PSX, has changed drastically. Presently I have FSX:SE Scenery settings set to minimums ( full left sliders ) on Scenery Complexity and Autogen Density, because that is what gives me the smoother ride, and high FPS ( which keeps more or less at a fixed 72 fps at these settings, and 72 fps is the max display rate in PSX ), without stutters. I'm glad I invested in ORBX FTX Global because its textures, even in the absence of autogen objects, still give me some very plausible terrain, including city areas, as if it was p…

  9. Navigraph Charts iPad App release announcement : https://www.navigraph.com/ViewNews.aspx?newsId=73 The demo allows the user to preview 3 airports (KSAN,ENAT & ZJSY). Having never used LIDO or Navigraph Charts Cloud before, I would like community feedback on some items. 1. Can you switch between meters/feet on the charts or is it provider restricted (in this case LIDO)? 2. The demo does not allow for type and search. Can you search for airports using their ICAO/IATA designators? 3. Is there a possibility to add charts to a clip and then selectively remove/replace them? 4. Selecting a chart as favorite isn't allowed in the Demo. Does selecting a chart into fav…

  10. Here are a few videos I made that may be of interest to you guys from the FlightSimCon 2015. I didn't record these initially and it was only going to be for myself, but people starting asking for them. Apologies for the quality it was a last minute decision to film them and my GF came in the nick of time with my GoPro... (This one was already posted in the PMDG section) 1) PMDG presentation - There is some new info on the DC-6 for Xplane http://youtu.be/CCJiul6c7fU 2) X-Plane presentation - Covers a whole lot of topics http://youtu.be/iPFO8wEI7fM If you didn't attend you missed out on a great time. I will definitely be going again…

  13. So I'm relatively new to the forums, It was just an hour ago when i decided to make my account set up and communicate with people . But I've had this lingering question in my mind for a while now. So I'm an aspiring Pilot, I've flown a couple times and love aviation, but its so expensive to fly i rarely get to do it. I've seen these movie type videos go up on YouTube and just imagined how cool it would be to make my sim do that. But of course, There's always money involved :/. Now, I've already got some decent add-ons like the Captain Sim planes and Aerosoft Airbus X. As well as Rex Overdrive. But i know that there's a lot more like FTX Global and also PMDG aircraft that…

Would like to know if it works with pmdg and aerosoft planes? Or is it only for fsx aircraft? Maybe some other addon for a cabin window? Some good simmer for help here? Thanks indeed in advance. 20. No sure I am posting this in the right place, so feel free to re locate it. I am on the road for a few months and set up my laptop to use P3D v2.5. Everything went well except that after I installed the MJ C-47 v2, I can not get any fuel to flow from the aux tanks. I have been using this plane at home on my PC with Windows 7 for a long time and I know it works there, but not on this install on my laptop which uses Windows 8.1 I know how the system works, but no matter what I do, I can not transfer fuel from the aux tanks to the mains or run the engines on the aux tanks. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks, Howard

  21. Was looking at some headsets today and though about this. Why do all aviation headsets have built in volume control? Do most aircraft not have their own volume control for listening to communication/atc next to the audio jacks or somewhere else in the cockpit? Obviously with normal headsets you adjust the volume on the pc/phone/whatever so is this not the same in aircraft?

  24. Hello everyone, I am trying to "simulate" air taxi service between tropical islands. This is short and great way to flight However, i would like to make a proper and well-planned flight, since i am going to do it online on IVAO. My preferred A/C is DHC-6 Twin Otter. My departure is FSIA Mahe Island and arrival is FSPP Praslin. Well dep/arr is vicinity of Seychelles. There are many islands with small airports and airfields. My questions are below (i know there are too many!) 1- Should i go for IFR or VFR? Weather is almost always clear, wind is calm and visibility is good near Seychelles. How to decide? 2- How to select a cruising altitude for VFR? I rea…

  25. Steam Refunds You can request a refund for nearly any purchase on Steam—for any reason. Maybe your PC doesn't meet the hardware requirements; maybe you bought a game by mistake; maybe you played the title for an hour and just didn't like it. It doesn't matter. Valve will, upon request via help.steampowered.com, issue a refund for any reason, if the request is made within fourteen days of purchase, and the title has been played for less than two hours. There are more details below, but even if you fall outside of the refund rules we’ve described, you can ask for a refund anyway and we’ll take a look. You will be issued a full refund of your purchase within a week of app…
