It has come to my mind several times how some of us really take simming seriously, in any of it's platforms, vs the use of flight simulation for rw training. It's many times discussed that, appart from some specific cases, PC based flight simulators do not provide us with the necessary skills to fly a real aircraft. Many opinions are usually expressed when such threads that start like - "could I fly a real aircraft..." are developed. I myself have my opinion of course, I myself have been using flight simulators for years for the purpose of, just like most of you, playing / pretending what I am making is what I would like to be doing in real life ( in my case bein…

Been using this for few years now, previous O&O disk image. After lots of pain from p3d fsx issues, decided to go mega on storage for backup so that I can backup more often without worrying about space. Acronis 2015 offerd unlimited cloud storage so purchased that. Turns out Acronis cloud storage is so slow, could take weeeeks just to backup p3d!!!!. So purchased WD 5T network drive. and unsubscribed Acronis cloud. Turns out Acronis cannot do incremental backups to external drive, fails 80% of the way always. Lots of angry custoerms on AAcronis forum, cause this issue known since 2009. Acronis backup is a ripoff

Like no kidding, you go girl! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ....or, if you have a little intimate group...and happen to be wanting to take them to Barbados...well, why not threat them to a little personal T. L. C.!!!

  7. I've tried twice now (April and today) to register on the Taxi2Gate forum which is under the iFlySimX umbrella. On both occasions I haven't received the confirmation email so have been unable to sign in. Having purchased 4 Taxi2Gate airports I have a question to ask but cannot as their registration system appears broken. Has anyone else had problems registering?

So, a pretty simple topic. I just want some input on something I keep thinking about. If I'm a teenager right now, and I want to be an airline pilot, what kinds of aircraft would still be flying 10-20 years from now? What aircraft would be phased out by then? Anything from regional jets to the heavies. What are your thoughts?

Anyone know what's going on at the Flightsim Store? I haven't been able download any of my old purchases in order to gain the P3D updates. All the so called 'support' links on the front page just time out!!! I don't see a direct email address listed there. If anyone has it, I'd be grateful to get it. Thanks

Tell me I'm the only one who finds IPS forums a mess. A couple of my 'go to' forums have migrated to it and up to the latest update, they have been 'managable'. The latest issue is, to me anyway, a bloody nightmare trying to navigate/customise. My second port of call is about to go the same way. Everything is starting to look like Twitter of Facebook. Aaaaagh! If I AM the only one and everyone else thinks the new 'trendy' look is 'well cool', I'll hush up. AVSIM, whatever you do please don't change the forum software, I beg you!

  18. I know there's been some controversy surrounding Gulfstream and sim designers, but what other manufacturers are on the no-no list? I'm guessing due to the lack of Bombardier biz jets, they make the list of off-limits AC for designers? I'd kill to see a decent Global 6000 hit the market.

Wow, I just had my Smoothest landing in my simming history! I was flying a flight for my VA (SWAVirtual) from KMCI to KBNA with the 737-700NGX and when I landed, it was very smooth, and the VSI was dead center. I was astonished though when I saw my ProjectFly monitor reporting a landing rate of -1FPM (I'm not kidding) I thought I took a screenshot, but when I checked, it never saved. When I looked on my VA's ACARS monitoring utility (LUVCARS) it didn't even register a landing rate, which meant, I couldn't submit the flight. I do have the xml log file it created, and according to it, at the point of touchdown my vertical speed was -0.8fpm. The ACARS software must have a t…

One very nice feature that I often used on Vataware's is the Top Routes. These are the most flown routes for a city pair and therefore "tend to be" a nice route suggestion. I use it mainly on weird routes that don't appear in regular route DBs on the net.. however since the new Vataware site I can't seem to find a way to search for the Top 10 or any city pair search. do you guys know by any chance how to run a "city pair / top 10 routes" search in vataware these days?

Having a little difficuilty understanding how each axes - Longitudinal, lateral and vertical correspondes to a type of stability!? For example, take the lateral axis how can that be longitudinal stability? Is there an easy way to picture all the axis and there stability type? Thanks.

  24. I've been following this guy's channel for a few weeks now and I'm really surprised with how little attention his videos seem to be getting. He has a whole bunch of videos mostly recorded between the 90s and now documenting rare (mostly russian) aircraft in a long, trip-report style format. They're really detailed and lots of fun to watch if you like old airliners: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIu9ReHPX-NyA0Gamb-wvLA/videos

  25. Man oh man! Don't recall seeing this before at FL200 to FL240. Planned a Turbine Duke v2 flight for tomorrow at FltPlan.com from KTEB Teterboro, NJ, to KSUS, Spirit of St Louis, MO, and will have to stop and refuel at KIND Indianapolis, IN, 588 nm..... That is if I can make it that far! Average wind component is -97. Have seen that at higher FL's in jets, but have not seen an average component that high at FL250 and below. Will be a costly trip. Significant winds at lower altitudes as well, so looks like FL240 is still the choice.
