  2. I posted this over on another forum and am curious about the response I might get here.... Assume for the sake of argument you win the $1.5 billon Powerball. How would that affect your Flight Simming experience? Would you quit simming in favor of real life flying? If you didn't quit simming, what flight sim system/program would you move to or stick with? Would you build, buy construct the ultimate flight sim system/cockpit? If so, what aircraft would it be? What hardware would you buy to run the new system? There are obviously other, related questions. Take this and run with it if you care to. --- My own answers: I'd both continue simming with FSX and go for my P…

Yeah, about six months ago I shut my sim down and haven't restarted it. This isn't a rant or anything like that. I still check in here at the forums to see what's happening...look at the screenshots, videos and all. There were a few reasons, some of them personal. I thought folks might be interested so... Graphics card crashes. My GTX 970 was crashing unpredictably and after spending a lot of time planning a flight only to have it crash just after takeoff or any time during the flight requiring a restart was just...painful. Time. Personal issues but also how draining the preparation and maintenance of my system was. Tossing out several excellent sceneries because…

  5. Just wanted to bring to everyone's attention that DarkstarF16's wife is trying to sell his equipment and has listed it at the following link - http://www.avsim.com/topic/481773-help-needed-with-late-husbands-equipment/. DarkstarF16 was a long time member at AVSIM and recently passed away. Any assistance to help out his wife would be greatly appreciated! This might be a good time for those in the UK looking for upgrading their computer system. Best regards,

Hello; For those of you who use Navigraph and PFPX, DO NOT update to the 1601 cycle yet. It is broken. Navigraph is aware and is looking for a solution.

  11. Hi All, Long time no see. Have brought Toposim out of mothballs and have recently made available the initial release my first major product in 3-4 years. As well, trying to get the word out to former FSGenesis Galaxy Lifetime members to come and redeem their old memberships at Toposim. Simply create an account at Toposim, and we will verify and configure your account for free downloads, just like the old days. Come on over and see what we have to offer . . . Thanks Justin

Googling only gave me the vaguest idea.. What does a PX switch do on a turboprop (I encountered it in an (FS9!) Embraer 110)? How/when is it used/switched on/off? (And a 'PY' switch?). Thanks.

I'm watching Smithsonian Air Disaster episode about the Quantas A380 flight 32 that blew its #2 engine at FL080 outbound from Singapore. The problem was communicated to the flight deck crew via ECAM indicators along, of course, with the obvious sound of the explosion. The captain sent his 2nd officer to the passenger cabin to look out the window for a visual check of the left wing, which had a 2 foot hole puncture and leaking fuel. By this time, the flight deck crew had already extinguished the fire from engine 2, although no one really visualized the fire spewing from the engine. My question is, why aren't these large airliners equipped with multiple modern, small vid…

I'm having trouble getting our CSS to work on the front page for IE 11. Is anyone familiar with CSS that can help me? Basically the parent element is getting stretched by the child elements and distorting our front page on IE 11. 20. It is that time of year when when we can give back to the people who enrich our lives through their contribution to the Community. In my flight simulation community, that definitely includes: Tim Arnot, creator of the freeway Plan-G3 software. I use it all the time to create VFR flight plans and monitor what is going on during flights. Maarten Boelens, creator of SimlauncherX, my indispensable tool for hanger maintenance and launching all of my P3D flights. Been using SimLauncher since version 9.3 for FSX. Great tool, although Maarten has gone on a bender lately creating a tool that is everything to everyone. Still love ya, Maarten! And of course, AVSIM. The big p…

  21. The last time I got bitten by the driving bug was when Gran Turismo 5 was released for the PS3. I've been following the previews for Project Cars in recents months and was eager to see it running on my own gaming rig. For anyone interested, here is a short video I made using ShadowPlay: http://goo.gl/39klnH Oh and I fly a lot better on a PC than I drive Cheers, Jerome

Hi, I have been using the Picasa application & Google photos online for my flight sim screenshots solution for years. I used to love it when it was Picasa web albums, it worked so well, but now that it has become "Google+ Photos" I find the interface sucks and is a pain to use. I'm really considering switching to Flickr instead. I used to be very easily able to get a "hotlink", or direct link to the ".jpg" files on Picasa web albums, but I seem to be completely unable to do that using Google+ Photos. It would appear to be possible to hotlink photos using Flickr. Does anyone still use Google and know how to hotlink photos? Thanks,

Hello All; Just wanted to know if any of you here own the EireSim Shannon Airport Addon? How is it? Does it work with StevesDX10 preview? I have been thinking about getting this add-on airport for sometime now, but couldn't really find any recent information on it. Would be very happy if some of you could share your experience with it. Many Thanks,
