Hangar Chat
This forum is for the discussion of things you might discuss when going into an airport hangar. Please make sure that your topic isn't covered in another forum before posting here. Please refrain from controversial topics...politics, religion, conspiracy theories, climate change, COVID etc. Topics that elicit or are deemed by staff likely to elicit heated argument, contention, or otherwise objectionable banter will be removed from view. We allow some latitude, but please remember that, first and foremost, this is a flight-simulator oriented site frequented by people from all walks of life.

Over the past year almost of sequestration television has become a large part of our recreation. Most especially old movies on TCM. Last night there were a couple Judy Garland movies back to back, Easter Parade and A Star is Born. The dancing just mesmerizes me. I'm amazed at the talents of Judy Garand and Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly and Ginger Rogers and Donald O'Conner and the rest. But I'm mostly astounded at the dancing chorus. 10, 20, 30 people all making the same moves and the same steps without missing a single one. How much learning and rehearsing and hard work and time must have gone into those numbers. Sadly those kinds of musi…

A fan animation, CGI/Recreation. No reason, it just made me happy, and I thought some trekkers and sci-fi fans here might enjoy seeing it, too.

All I'm currently building a Boeing 727 model and was wondering if anyone could tell me what the small, triangular outlet 'flap' is on the underside just forward of the air stairs ? It appears to be ram operated and is in the down position on all of the ground photos that I've seen. Thanks

This week I am displaying some of my zoo animal pictures. It's not hard to make zoo pictures look like they may have been taken in the wild. Always make sure of your background and use your zoom lens to blur it. The polar bears were taken in a Saturday morning after it had snowed the previous day at the Denver zoo. I had the elephant photo in a stock agency and it sold several times. Head shots are always interesting. Focus on the eyes. Noel

Hey all, Just curious actually. I'm not slating the product at all, and for military sims it's essential if you're not in VR I've heard. That said, I have a decent setup (34" ultrawide, VKB stick and rudder pedals, TWCS throttle) so I've got no fear of peripherals! But TrackIR 5 is just something that after six months and trying many profiles, I can never come to enjoy. I'm not sure what it is, maybe the extra cables, the added feeling of needing to stay relatively still when it's not paused, or just something in my head. I tend to write things down a lot and refer to a lot of charts. That doesn't help. Either way, whether flying a small GA aircraft, to a jetliner…

Disclaimer: The Man from The Outside, Looking In here: I do not own FS2020 (a.k.a. MFS a.k.a MSFS2020), and do not plan to obtain it. I did spend a lot of time reading the fora, though* (this one and the official one). Depending on your personal preference and party affiliation (Whiners a.k.a. Negativity Spreaders, or White Knights a.k.a. word not allowed EDIT: Interesting: starts with F and ends with bois), you can thus freely choose to argue, with equal justification, ¤ either that therefore I do not know what I am talking about; ¤ or that as a non-partisan outsider with no horse in the race, I may have a more detached and objective view of things. Anyhow, I li…

So here I sit sequestered. I've been retired for the past 28 years and until this virus hit I had things to do outside the home. But now I'm stuck here with my books and my flight simulator. So I thought an around the world flight would be interesting. My around the world trip involves circumnavigating the continents as well as the globe. I'll start my trip gong south from my home port of Roswell NM. Down through Mexico and Central America and then down the west coast of South America and back up the east coast of South America. Then up through the West Indies and back up the east coast of North America. Then across Greenland to Iceland and down to Scotlan…

This will be fun. Rolls Royce are attempting the world speed record for electric flight. Currently the record is held by an Extra 330LE at 213 mph. Rolls are attempting to reach 300 mph. Not only that, despite being built purely for speed, it will have a 200 mile range. https://www.popularmechanics.com/science/a32202373/solar-panel-record-efficiency/ https://www.aerospacetestinginternational.com/news/electric-hybrid/rolls-royce-set-to-break-world-record-for-fastest-electric-aircraft.html

I am posting this in the hanger chat forum because I really don't want to get into the weeds or have the moderators jump on me about where a post is appropriate and where its not lol.. With that being said, what do ya'll think of the new sim? I havent bought it yet, im still dabbling in FSX. I have a few questions about it for you members on here who have the new sim and have thoroughly evaluated it. 1. How are the flight dynamics? Are they at least as good as FSX or better? I had heard there was a lot of bugs, at least in the beginning before updates. I love good scenery and all the other aesthetics, but I'm a stickler for how the aircraft handles and fu…

Great-tail Grackles are very common in the Roswell area. The inhabit our neighborhoods and parks. I took all of these photos in Cahoun Park that is across the street from my house. Grackles are often mistaken for crows or blackbirds but they really belong to the family of Meadow Larks. They make good pets and can mimic simple words if kept in captivity long enough. 1 - Male Great-tail Grackle. 2 - Female Great-tail Grackle 3 - Great-tail Grackle in flight 4 - Great-tail Grackles like water 5 - And they perch in trees 6- Every species has it's moderators.
